Patent number: 9682601Abstract: A hold down system for a vehicle is described. The vehicle comprises a chassis biased by a suspension in a first direction away from a supporting surface. The hold down system comprises a base for attachment to a linkage arm of the suspension. The hold down system can further include a pin slidably coupled with the base, where the pin is extensible in a second direction away from the base. The pin can be biased in a third direction opposite the second direction and toward the base. The hold down system can also include a latching mechanism for attachment to the vehicle. The latching mechanism can be configured to latch the pin when the pin is extended in the second direction away from the base, and to release the pin in the third direction toward the base when the chassis is deflected in a fourth direction opposite the first direction.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2016Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Inventor: Kevin Maret

Publication number: 20080173456Abstract: A curb shoe assembly for street grading and curb formation is provided. The curb shoe assembly includes a channel member having a front side, a back side, a bottom side and a central trough sized for receiving the bottom edge of a construction vehicle mow blade. The curb shoe further includes a grading blade which extends downward from the bottom side of the channel member. The grading blade includes a laterally extending portion and an angled portion. The angled portion includes a vertically extending edge for confronting a curb shoulder. Preferably, the angled portion is removable for replacement due to damage. The curb shoe includes a pair of straps for affixing the curb shoe's channel member to a mow blade. In addition, the curb shoe assembly includes a shoe having a horizontally extending plate. The horizontally extending plate is positioned adjacent to the grading blade so as to rest upon a street curb during operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2007Publication date: July 24, 2008Inventor: John L. Patent number: 6276077Abstract: A wheel tractor scraper is provided with a tractor and a bucket having a bottom, a left side, a right side, a back end and a front end defining a bowl for collecting dirt and having an open front portion and a scraper blade attached along the front portion and at the bottom of the bucket for scraping dirt into the bucket. The bucket is rollingly supported on an axle between left and right rear wheels. A draft frame pivotably connects between the tractor and the bucket. A pair of cylinders is operatively connected to the bucket and the cylinders are actuatable to provide vertical components of force to tilt the bucket, up on one side and down on the other side of the bucket to thereby controllably tilt the bucket and the scraper blade attached thereto for scraping dirt at a cross-grade angle relative to the axle and wheels.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1999Date of Patent: August 21, 2001Assignee: JHC Holding CompanyInventor: Martin Kirbie

Patent number: 4837940Abstract: A height control device for attachment to the end of a grader blade of a motor grader. A gage portion of the device is adjustable for the desired depth of a cut the blade will make with reference to a curb upon which the gage rides.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1988Date of Patent: June 13, 1989Inventor: Michael K. Patent number: 4552238Abstract: A tractor scraper hitch steering and suspension system wherein a tractor drive wheel axle frame is pivotally connected to a tractor main frame to permit vertical movement of the tractor drive wheels relative to the tractor. Two hydraulic cylinders are pivotally connected between the tractor drive wheel axle frame and a cross arm forming a part of a hitch assembly that secures the tractor to the scraper. The hydraulic cylinders dampen vertical bounce movement that occurs during operation and control tilting or rolling motion between the tractor portion and the scraper portion that occur about their common longitudinally extending axis. A locking brake is provided to resist vertical motion of the tractor drive wheel axle frame to stabilize the depth of a cutting edge of the scraper during operation and obtain a steady depth of cut.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1983Date of Patent: November 12, 1985Assignee: Fiatallis North America, Inc.Inventor: Hardin Joyce, Jr.

Patent number: 4215495Abstract: My invention consists of an attachment adapted to be connected to a road grader blade. It has a mounting means in the form of a frame for attachment to the blade, a support carried by said mounting means which in turn carries a curb shoe, the support being capable of being raised or lowered in order to position the blade in the proper horizontal plane. The vertically adjustable support carries a universal joint and the universal joint in turn carries a curb shoe which consists of an element having a relatively flat surface which engages a surface of the curb.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1978Date of Patent: August 5, 1980Inventor: Donald G. Patent number: 4125950Abstract: A device adapted to be attached to a vehicle for plowing snow on gravel covered roads while minimizing loss of gravel caused by plowing which employs a horizontally elongated blade having a concave plowing front surface and a convex rear surface.A horizontal foot is disposed below the blade and is adapted slidably to rest on the top of a gravel road covering. A mechanism secures said foot to said blade in such manner that the bottom edge of the blade is disposed above the foot. The mechanism is manually adjustable to adjust the vertical separation between the bottom edge of the blade and the bottom surface of the foot to a distance at which the gravel will not be removed and the snow can be suitably plowed when the device is used on a vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1977Date of Patent: November 21, 1978Inventor: Donald R. Patent number: 4010561Abstract: In an earthmoving scraper, a pivotally adjustable router bit is provided on the leading edges of the bowl to fracture the soil ahead of both sides of the cutting edge of the scraper to protect the bowl sides from excessive wear. The bits are pivotally mounted on the side walls of the bowl and are shaped in such a way that the leading edge of each bit wears uniformly as the bit is advanced from one secured position on the bowl to the next.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1975Date of Patent: March 8, 1977Assignee: Caterpillar Tractor Co.Inventor: Gene R.
