With Means For Rotating Tool Patents (Class 173/104)
  • Patent number: 11865688
Abstract: An impact tool includes a housing; and a motor, a tubular tool holder, a driving mechanism, a rotation shaft, a driving mechanism housing region inside the housing. The tool holder has a distal end on which a bit is mountable. The driving mechanism is configured to hammer the bit. The rotation shaft is disposed in the driving mechanism and rotates by a rotation of an output shaft of the motor. The driving mechanism housing region houses the driving mechanism in a sealed state inside the housing. The air escape path that releases air inside the driving mechanism housing region to outside of the driving mechanism housing region is formed inside the rotation shaft while an inlet of the air escape path is formed on an outer peripheral surface of the rotation shaft.

Abstract: The present invention provides a multi-mode drive mechanism. The multi-mode drive mechanism may be employed, for example, in a power tool, for driving a chuck supporting an end effector, such as a drill bit or spiral cut bit, for acting on a work surface. For example, when employed in a power tool, the mechanism can generate rotating, reciprocating, or simultaneous rotating and reciprocating motion. Cutting with simultaneous rotational and reciprocating motion lessens the potential for undesired walking or wandering of the cutting bit by actively removing debris from the cut. Additionally, multi-mode drive mechanisms provide increased functionality in a single tool to accommodate a variety of situations and materials. One aspect of the invention provides a multi-mode drive mechanism including: an input shaft, a reciprocating assembly, an output shaft, a reciprocating block, and a shift collar. The input shaft terminates in an input external spur gear.

  • Patent number: 8887828
Abstract: Various embodiments herein provide a remotely adjustable feed system for remotely controlling the movement of a tool head on a machining tool along an axis of motion by means of converting reciprocal linear motion, i.e., back and forth linear motion, into rotary motion. The rate of movement of the tool head along the axis of motion may be controlled by varying the distance of linear motion in each cycle of linear reciprocal motion and/or by varying the rate of linear reciprocal motion cycles per unit time. Alternatively, or in addition, the rate of movement of the tool head along the axis of motion may be controlled by varying the amount of rotary motion that results from a given amount of reciprocal linear motion. Additionally, in some embodiments, the movement of the tool head may be controlled by directly controlling the rotary motion that drives the tool head along the axis of motion.
