Abstract: Previously in a bus system, voltage signals were transmitted from the central unit to the modules, which could reply thereto by variation of the current input. A disadvantage thereby is the relatively high susceptibility to interference of the current input, which itself already must be kept relatively small due to the energy consumption, as well as the correspondingly high effort and expense for an error-free recognition of the signals transmitted from the modules in the central unit. It is now suggested, that the modules also answer to the central unit by means of voltage signals superposed on the direct supply voltage, whereby for the time duration of the signal transmission by the modules, the central unit provides the direct supply voltage to the bus line over a resistor, so that the voltage signal of the module can be detected in the central unit on the bus line on the side of the resistor facing away from the direct supply voltage.

  • Patent number: 6717046
Abstract: To provide a computer device wherein liquid penetration into a ventilation hole from its periphery can be prevented or reduced without sacrificing design and without limitation of the size and operation. Coating films 7a and 7b in frame form are applied on a periphery of a ventilation hole 6. A wet-characteristic of the coating film 7a and 7b is different from a wet-characteristic of material composing a housing 3. For example, when an angle of contact of coating films 7a and 7b for water is larger than an angle of contact of material composing the housing 3, if water is spilled on the outside of the coating film 7b the coating film 7b prevents the water flow into the ventilation hole 6.

  • Patent number: 6505401
Abstract: An implantable medical electrical lead is made by forming a generally radially directed bore extending between each lumen of an elongated lead body having a plurality of internal longitudinally extending, circumferentially spaced lumina, the bores being located at longitudinally and circumferentially spaced locations, then drawing an elongated conductor cable into and through each lumen of the lead body such that a terminal end thereof projects through and beyond an associated one of the bores. A metallic tube is slidably attached onto each conductor cable adjacent the cable's terminal end, then is firmly joined to its associated conductor cable. Thereupon, each metallic tube is affixed, as by welding, preferably, by laser welding, to an associated one of a plurality of tubular electrodes coaxial with, and overlying, the lead body at longitudinally spaced locations. In one instance, the tubular electrode may be a ring electrode with the lead body connected to a pacemaker.
