Abstract: A lock structure for a box includes a first box member having a retaining projection, and a second box member having an elastic retaining arm. The retaining arm has at its distal end a retaining portion for engagement with the retaining projection. The first box member has an arm restraint rib which restricts a releasing movement of the retaining arm in a condition in which the retaining arm and the retaining projection are engaged with each other. When the arm restraint rib is pressed by the elastic retaining arm, the arm restraint rib is deformed by a pressing force of the elastic retaining arm. A retaining distance of the retaining projection relative to the retaining portion of the elastic retaining arm is larger than a gap between the elastic retaining arm and the arm restraint rib in the engaged condition.

Abstract: An electrical junction box for securing an electrical device substantially behind the exterior of a building structure to protect it from rain and other elements includes a box-shaped housing having a top wall, a bottom wall, side walls, a back wall, a front opening, a front edge surrounding the front opening, and a cavity for receiving the electrical device therein. The housing includes a boss extending from the back wall into the cavity. The boss has a forward-facing surface configured to receive fasteners to attach the electrical device. The front of the electrical device is recessed within the cavity. The electrical junction box also includes a wall extending outwardly from the front edge of the front opening and configured to abut the exterior of a structure. The electrical junction box also includes a rotatably adjustable cover for closing access to the front opening of the box.

Abstract: A ceiling lamp junction box assembly is composed of a base and an outer shell combined of two half portions that interlockingly combine to enclose electronic components contained therein. In addition, a protective plate is placed in a recess defined in the bottom of the outer shell to protect the electronic components and the outer shell during installation of the junction box. A dovetail portion present on the outer surface of the outer shell combines with a slot defined in the base to help improve rotational stability.

Abstract: A electrical box assembly is provided that includes an electrical outlet box and an adapter plate configured to accommodate electrical components in a single or double gang formation. An engaging mechanism permits the adapter plate to snap into the electrical outlet box without the use of screws or other fasteners. Thus, the adapter plate can be removed and rotated to change the orientation of the adapter plate and any electrical components attached thereto from a vertical to a horizontal orientation, and vice versa.

At least one of the base and the outer cover has one or more channels formed therein and the other of the base and the outer cover has one or more lips that depend outwardly therefrom. Each lip is received within a corresponding channel formed on the other of the base and the outer cover. The lip and the channel have side portions that engage at multiple contact points to form an environmental seal that prevents contaminants, such as wind-driven dust, sand and moisture, from entering the interior cavity when the outer cover is in the closed position, thereby protecting communications equipment within the NID without the use of an elastomeric gel, seal or gasket.

Abstract: A sealed electrical junction box includes a sectional housing containing a chamber and having an end wall that contains at least one access passage in which is mounted a sealing bush containing a longitudinal through bore. An annular internal sealing rib on the access passage wall cooperates with a corresponding circumferential groove in the outer circumferential surface of the bush, thereby to seal the space between bush and the access passage wall. To seal the space around an inserted conductor, there is mounted on the inner circumferential surface of the bush through bore at least one integral deformable sealing lip that engages the outer circumferential surface of a conductor inserted into the bush longitudinal bore. When the bush is not in use, the longitudinal bore thereof is sealed by a cylindrical plug that is inserted into the longitudinal bore.

Abstract: A reversible electrical box assembly for mounting an electrical fixture on a ceiling. The electrical box assembly includes a hollow body having a sidewall. The sidewall includes two ends and a center. A flange extends outwards from the sidewall at a location offset from the center thereby dividing the sidewall into a long and short sidewall. A panel is provided for closing either of the ends of the hollow body. The panel can be secured to either the long sidewall or to the short sidewall to create an opposing sidewall of an appropriate length for extending through the ceiling covering at the job site.

A mounting bracket is integrally formed with the box and extends from the side wall. The mounting bracket includes, integrally formed therewith, an attachment structure for directly securing the bracket to the stud and positionally fixing the bracket without the use of additional securement hardware. The bracket may be a U-shaped member having a planar face abutting the face of the stud and a pair of spaced apart arms extending therefrom for engagement with opposite sides of the stud. The assembly may also support more than one box/frame. The box and frame may be supported on either side of the bracket.

Abstract: An electrical box assembly for providing electrical service on a brick wall. The assembly includes an electrical outlet box and an adapter. The adapter includes sidewalls defining an internal cavity, an open front, an open rear, and arcuate cable holders for temporarily holding electrical cables until they are routed into the outlet box. Outward extending tabs are provided on the sidewalls of the adapter for enabling secure anchoring of the adapter into a hole in a brick wall. The outlet box includes sidewalls, a hinged cover, and bosses for accepting an electrical device. A fastening arrangement is provided for securing the outlet box to the adapter. Electrical service is provided by mortaring the adapter into a hole in the wall, sliding the outlet box slid into the cavity of the adapter, and securing the outlet box to the adapter with the fastening arrangement.

A base having a base plate with a shape corresponding to the open back includes a tab protruding from the upper surface for matching up with the pocket when aligned with the fin to complete a rock and lock attachment. The configuration of the cover apertures dictates whether the power outlet accommodates a 30 amp or a 50 amp power receptacle.

Abstract: A fastening device for mounting an electrical fixture suspended from an electrical junction box in a ceiling. When a mounting bracket assembly suspends the electrical junction box between two joists, the fastening device is an overlay positioned adjacent to each end-plate of the support bar. When the electrical junction box attaches directly to a joist, the fastening device is an overlay positioned inside a cavity of the electrical junction box. The overlay includes fastener openings that position a preset fastener to attach the end-plates to the spaced joists, or openings in the top wall of the cavity to attach the electrical junction box to a joist in the ceiling. The overlay also includes radial incisions, cut in a star pattern, that surround each fastener opening. When an installer tightens all of the fasteners, the star patterns open and allow the installer to easily pull-out and remove the overlay.

Abstract: An electrical box having spring legs for supporting the box within a space between a pair of spaced-apart parallel concrete forms. The legs engage the inside surface of one form and bias the open end of the box against the inside surface of the other form. The legs and the bottom of the box are cooperatively configured to facilitate attachment of the legs to the box. A bendable strap is attached to the box for wrapping around reinforcing bars within the forms. The legs and strap hold the box in position when concrete is poured into the space between the forms. The entire box and support elements remain embedded within the finished concrete wall, and with the open end of the box exposed at an outer surface of the concrete wall.

Each mounting bracket is integrally molded with the box and is also configured with at least one joist engaging device so as to engage the joist and hence temporarily hold the box thereto. This permits the installer to use both hands when subsequently permanently affixing the box to the joist, such as via the fasteners supplied with the box.

The socket cup provides a pathway for wiring from within the socket cup to an interior of the enclosure. The enclosure with socket cup may be utilized with reflector trims of differing heights.

All hardware required for mounting the electrical device is included with the assembly. The adjustable mounting bar includes sliding tubular members with end flanges for spanning between adjacent overhead joists. An electrical box is connected to the tubular members by a clamp and outer clamping fasteners, which can be loosened to adjust the length of the adjustable mounting bar. The end flanges include penetrable tabs that can be driven into the overhead joists to temporarily secure the adjustable mounting bar to the joists and thereby free the installer's hands. The outer face of the end flanges include a series of rows of slots arranged horizontally thereon and forming a plurality of bend lines.

Abstract: A tamper-resistant electrical receptacle disclosed herein includes a cover assembly having at least one pair of apertures, a cover, and at least one slider that rests in the cover behind one pair of the apertures. The slider is held in a first position where it covers both apertures such that an object is blocked from entrance in either aperture and, thereby, blocked from accessing either receptacle terminal formed in the base assembly connected to the cover assembly. This first position is maintained until prongs are substantially inserted simultaneously into the apertures causing the slider to move into a second position where the prongs are enabled to pass through the apertures, engaging the receptacle terminals. After the prongs are removed from the receptacle terminals, the slider automatically retracts to the first position. When only one aperture is probed by an object, however, the slider remains confined in the first position.

Abstract: An electrical junction box is disclosed in one aspect of the present invention as including a housing; two or more wiring ports formed in the housing to accommodate electrical wiring routed into the housing; and tabs resiliently connected to the housing and substantially covering the wiring ports. The orientation of the tabs is varied to accommodate wiring entering the wiring ports from different directions. Due to their resilient characteristics, the tabs deflect upon routing wire through the wiring ports and allow the tabs to clamp down on the wires.

Abstract: The Adjustable Mud Ring consists of a collarless frame, having a central opening for an Extending Member, perimeter fastener openings for connecting to a junction box, and bendable tabs for securing the frame to an Extending Member, which is boxed shaped with a central opening for electrical apparatus, fixed tabs with openings for threading adjustable fasteners into openings in the frame, and bendable tabs for securing the system to a wall. A Grounding Spring Clip, constructed from sheet-metal, folded to create a compressive spring, with an opening for a fastener, allows proper grounding. Add-on Rings are boxed shaped with a central opening, openings on flat, fixed perimeter tabs for threading bolts into to an Extending Member, and bendable tabs for securing the system to a wall. A bracket, with openings for fasteners for attaching the assembly to wall members, can be made a part of the frame.

In another embodiment, the mounting bracket includes a front plate with a central opening for receiving an electrical box and a pair of extension members that extend in a rearward direction with respect to the electrical box. The support members can include an extension member that can be folded outwardly to contact an opposing wall surface to support the electrical box.

The system includes a wiring interface disposed on a first side and electrically coupled to a plurality of receptacle openings disposed on a second side. An adjustable support assembly includes a retaining frame configured to secure the wall box receptacle device therein. A first hinged mounting member is rotatably coupled to a first end of the retaining frame, and a second hinged mounting member is rotatably coupled to a second end of the retaining frame. A modular electrical wiring device includes at least one electrical circuit disposed between a cover member and a rear body member. The at least one electrical circuit is coupled to a plurality of male terminal elements accessibly disposed in the rear body member. The plurality of terminal blades are insertable in the plurality of receptacle openings to establish electrical continuity between the plurality of male terminal elements and the wiring interface.

Abstract: A shell body assembly structure includes a first shell body, a second shell body and a frame. A plurality of fixing portions is projectively disposed at the peripheral edge of the first shell body. A locking point is formed on each of the fixing portions. The second shell body has a plurality of holes corresponding to the locking points to lock the locking points so that the first shell body and the second shell body can be locked together. A plurality of openings corresponding to the fixing portions is disposed at the peripheral edge of the frame. A locking hook is formed on each of the opening. When the locking point is pressed down, the fixing portion can be pushed away and then locked with the locking hook, thereby separating the first shell body and the second shell body.

Abstract: An housing is configured for connection to the raceway panels by removing the concrete above the raceway panel, cutting a hole in the raceway panel, and securing the housing in the hole in the raceway panel. Alignment clips allow the afterset housings to be ganged together to form an integral afterset assembly. Each alignment clip is configured to slidably engage with a pair of the afterset housings. In one embodiment, the afterset housing includes a preset housing that is normally configured for connection to the raceway panel prior to pouring of the concrete floor, and an adapter connectable to the preset housing and being constructed to reconfigure the preset for use as an afterset housing which is adapted for connection to the raceway panel following pouring of the concrete floor.

The structural members of the wall and the receptacle are both covered with a barrier film. The barrier film is sealingly attached to the flange.
