  • Patent number: 7842884
Abstract: A device and method for mounting electrical boxes (1) in preexisting drywall (4) using a mounting bracket (3). To use, a holding wire (14) having a stop (15) on one end is placed through a screw hole (9) of a cover (2) which is attached the electrical box. Then the electrical box and cover are placed sideways through a wall hole (7) in the drywall. Next the electrical box is lowered behind the wall so that conduit (8) may be connected to the electrical box. Then a mounting bracket (3) is secured to the cover and electrical box with holding clips (11) and screws (12) using the holding wire to keep the mounting bracket and cover centered with the wall hole. A standard switch or outlet cover may then be installed to cover the mounting bracket. An additional novel feature of the present invention is a stop strap (17) which may be attached to conduit above a top plate (10) of a wall to bold the conduit in place.

  • Patent number: 7812255
Abstract: A Chicago-style plenum-type electrical junction box provides an air impermeable barrier between a box support structure and a junction enclosure. The junction box includes a base plate and a peripheral wall, the peripheral wall extending from the base plate such that the base plate and peripheral wall define the junction enclosure. The base plate preferably includes a series of fastener knockouts so as to provide an air impermeable barrier. The fastener knockouts are selectively removable for exposing a series of fastener-receiving apertures. The fastener-receiving apertures receive a series of fasteners for sealing the fastener-receiving apertures when fastening the junction box to the box support structure thereby providing an air tight barrier between the box support structure and the junction enclosure.

  • Patent number: 7795533
Abstract: An in-ceiling cabling enclosure for supporting communications network equipment and cables interconnecting the network equipment including a front wall, a rear wall, and two side walls extending between the front wall and the rear wall creating a volume inside the enclosure. An access door assembly is pivotally connected to either the rear wall or the two side walls. An equipment mount plate is attached to an interior portion of the access door assembly, and opposed equipment mount rails are removably attached to the equipment mount plate. A cable slack management tray extends between the opposed equipment mount rails, and the slack management tray has a surface adapted to support and maintain the position and the contour of cable bundles located in the enclosure. A thermal management system is also disposed in the housing to provide efficient exhaust of hot air generated by active equipment in the enclosure to the space outside of the enclosure.

Abstract: A mounting assembly for connecting a housing of an electrical fixture to an electrical junction box, in which a plate attached to the housing includes a locking member having an engager at a first end moveable relative to the plate between a first position and a second position. A locking post adapted for connecting to an electrical junction box includes a receiver for engaging the engager. The locking post secures the housing to the electrical junction box upon moving the locking member to the second position to engage the engager with the receiver of the locking post. A method of attaching a housing for an electrical fixture to an electrical junction box is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7650055
Abstract: An environmentally sealed closure, such as a terminal for terminated ends of fiber optic cables, includes a housing having a wall defining an interior volume. A floating sealing assembly is provided including a first plate, a seal member and a second plate arranged in a stack within the interior volume. The seal member has an outer sealing edge for contacting the wall of the housing, which may be straight and/or chamfered. Fiber optic cables extend through the sealing assembly so that the terminated ends are within the splice area. The floating sealing assembly is compressed so as to place the outer sealing edge of the seal member in sealing contact with the wall of the housing. When a pressure differential exists between the splice area and the outside of the housing only one of the first or second plates moves along the longitudinal axis to further compress the seal member and increase sealing between the outer sealing edge and the housing wall.

  • Patent number: 7572976
Abstract: There is provided a quick connect electrical box assembly that can be attached to a construction member such as a wall stud. The electrical box includes a box frame and a box back. The box frame and box back each include reciprocal snap connectors so that the frame can be joined to the back. Channels are configured in the box back, and conductor rails are positioned in these rails. Common electrical wires, such as are founded in three-strand bundled power lines, can be stripped of their insulation and placed in the rails. The rails, formed of conductive material such as copper, then form an electrical connection within the box. Using this box an electrician can quickly and efficiently bring power to a location during rough assembly. Later, during finish electrical work, the electrician can also plug devices such as switches and plugs into the box. The switches and plugs, configured with prongs, make electrical connection with the rails and thereby receive power.
