Compression Patents (Class 174/652)
  • Patent number: 8586881
Abstract: A compression ring includes an outer surface opposing an inner surface, with teeth extending radially inwardly from the inner surface. First and second circumferential ends are complementarily interfittable, and are separated by a circumferential gap, allowing the compression ring to be compressable when being installed in a connector assembly. First and second axial ends of the compression ring are chamfered to facilitate compression. The teeth extend circumferentially from the first and second circumferential ends and are complementary to conduit threading. Each tooth includes first and second sides, with the first side perpendicular to the inner surface to resist pullout of a conduit from the connector assembly. The teeth terminate in sharp points for better gripping of unthreaded conduits. A compressed compression ring accommodates threaded conduits by complementarily mating with threading, and unthreaded conduits by biting into their outer surfaces.

Abstract: An exemplary connector assembly includes a connector body, a compression nut, a compression ring, and a sealing ring. A conduit may be inserted through the compression nut and the connector body. The compression ring may include a circumferential gap between two complementarily interfittable circumferential ends to allow it to compress, and the sealing ring may vary in diameter along its axial length. As the connector body screws into the compression nut, the compression nut presses against the compression ring, which in turn pushes the sealing ring against the connector body. The connector body may include a connector chamfer. The sealing ring pressing against the connector body, preferably against the connector chamfer, forms a seal between the conduit and the connector body. The seal resists contaminants such as dust and moisture. Compression of the compression ring around the conduit helps secure the conduit to the compression nut and the connector body.

  • Patent number: 7781684
Abstract: A compressible sealing gasket for supporting a cable in a wall opening contained in a housing wall includes a pair of gasket sections each having a planar surface that contains a recess, and at least one integral compressible sealing projection extending from the planar surface adjacent the recess. When the gasket sections are placed in an assembled condition with their planar surfaces in contiguous engagement, the recesses cooperate to define a cable opening for receiving a cable, and the projection is compressed between the gasket sections to seal the space between the gasket sections adjacent the cable opening. Preferably two laterally spaced integral sealing ribs are provided in each recess, which sealing ribs extend transversely completely across the recess and terminate at each end in a sealing projection that extends upwardly from the associated planar surface.

Abstract: An electronic communication wire connecting an input speed sensor and a computer controller in a transmission system is provided. The electronic communication wire connects at one end to the input speed sensor through a first aperture in the transmission case and at the other end to the computer controller through a second aperture in the transmission case. Thus, the electronic communication wire is attached at both ends to internal devices but it partially exists external to the transmission case along the length of the electronic communication wire. The connection between the electronic communication wire and the input speed sensor is sealed with at least a single O-ring while the connection between the electronic communication wire and the computer controller is sealed with at least a pair of O-rings. A method of electronically connecting the input speed sensor and the computer controller externally of the transmission case is also provided.

Abstract: The invention relates to a sealing device for a chamber partition, the partition having an orifice enabling a strand of conductor wires to pass between the outside and the inside of the chamber. The device includes a plug through which passes the strand, and an apparatus to keep the plug pressed against the partition. The conductor wires can be kept away from one another inside the plug to ensure the seal-tightness of the plug itself. Advantageously, the plug is pressed into a void of a counter-form, the internal shape of the void substantially complementing an external shape of the plug. The form/counter-form assembly provides for a perfect seal-tightness.

Abstract: A cable seal assembly includes a sealing member, a first housing member, and a second housing member. The sealing member defines a passageway that extends from a center opening of the sealing member through the periphery of the sealing member. The first housing member is disposed in the passageway and the center opening of the sealing member and defines a cutout portion. The second housing member is disposed in the center opening of the sealing member and engaged with the cutout portion of the first housing member. The first housing member and the second housing member cooperatively define a central axial passage having an inner surface.
