Abstract: The field of application of present invention relates to weighing systems of vehicles in motion also called WIM systems (Weigh In Motion). The indicated WIM system foresees the placement of a metal plate to the street level, above which vehicles to be weighed may transit, and this metal plate, which is also called loading plate, is mounted above a cavity obtained on the road surface so that it can flex at the passage of the vehicles above it. The system provides that the measurement of the deflection of said loading plate is carried out with the aid of suitable sensors, and that the estimated weight is obtained through the modeling of the flexing of said loading plate depending on the weight of the vehicle passing over. The invention discloses a particularly advantage configuration to achieve a weighing system that can be modelled with the required accuracy.

Abstract: A weight scale for a patient lift system includes a frame assembly. A plurality of force sensors are coupled to the frame assembly. Each of the plurality of force sensors is configured to generate a signal indicative of a measured weight force. A foot rest panel is coupled to the frame assembly. The foot rest panel is configured to support a patient. An angle sensor is operatively coupled to the frame assembly. The angle sensor is configured to generate a signal indicative of an angle of the frame assembly with respect to a horizontal reference plane. A controller is coupled in signal communication with each force sensor and the angle sensor. The controller includes one or more processors configured to receive signals from each force sensor and the angle sensor to determine an actual weight force of the patient.

Abstract: A bin monitoring system functions both as a device for lifting the bin and as a weighing system for monitoring or measuring the level of feed in a feed bin. Various embodiments having a suspended load cell and methods of retrofitting the bin monitoring system to existing bins are provided. Further, the accuracy provided by various embodiments enables one to accurately predict when the feed bin will be empty. Thus, the feed mill can be aware of anticipated needs days in advance, allowing the feed mill to better optimize its scheduling and deliveries.

  • Patent number: 8389878
Abstract: A pad is disclosed for use in a weighing system for weighing a load. The pad includes a weighing platform, load cells, and foot members. Improvements to the pad reduce or substantially eliminate rotation of one or more of the corner foot members. A flexible foot strap disposed between the corner foot members reduces rotation of the respective foot members about vertical axes through the corner foot members and couples the corner foot members such that rotation of one corner foot member results in substantially the same amount of rotation of the other corner foot member. In a strapless variant one or more fasteners prevents substantially all rotation of a foot member. In a diagonal variant, a foot strap extends between a corner foot member and the weighing platform to reduce rotation of the foot member about a vertical axis through the corner foot member.

Abstract: A piece of luggage has a body with a surface. A weight scale has a top surface and is disposed in the body of the luggage. The top surface of the weight scale is coplanar with the surface of the body of the luggage. The weight scale determines a weight of the piece of luggage when in an operating state. When the weight scale is in a non-operating state it is stored safely within the body of the luggage. Most importantly the weight scale does not stick out from the body of the luggage so as to be susceptible to damage during transport of the luggage.

Scale functionality may be enclosed within the carry-handle. The luggage-scale may have a digital readout display, such as a touch screen, that changes color once weight is calculated. The handle-scale may be movable between a first and a second vertical position with respect to the piece of luggage during use. The handle-scale may include an outer shell that protects the digital readout by withdrawing the digital readout from an exterior of the handle-scale such that when a user grips the handle, the hand of the user does not touch the digital readout. The handle-scale may separately display a measurement scale, and whole and partial units of the calculated weight. The handle-scale may have an undulating outer exterior to facilitate gripping and manually lifting.
