  • Patent number: 10660558
Abstract: Systems and methods facilitating objective evaluations of subjects to facilitate detecting clinically relevant changes in balance are provided. The system includes a portable balance board with a sensor in each of four feet for detecting downward force. Each sensor is communicatively coupled to a circuit board with a wired or wireless communication capability. A subject stands on the balance board and each sensor sends a signal to the circuit board, which communicates the four signals to a companion device that uses the signals to calculate the center of pressure (“COP”) of the subject over time. The subject can perform the BESS test and the resulting COP data is used to calculate a field path length for the subject. The field path length is compared to a previously determined baseline path length for the subject to detect any clinically relevant change in balance of the subject.

  • Patent number: 10665051
Abstract: A bulk food weighing and processing system wherein a digital scale is uniquely configured and positioned to weigh and process individual portions of bulk food, uniquely designed and positioned to fit into a bulk food dispensing system. The system then prints a uniquely shaped and treated sticky, digitally-coded thermal-paper receipt which is used to seal a customer's portable container. The sticky receipt then aids customer checkout by providing digitally coded data about the food portion. In most embodiments, the digital scale is a strain gauge scale positioned between a gravity bin's hopper and its mounting bracket, such that it can detect and process a customer's individual food portion once dispensed. The food portion's weight measurement is then transmitted through a controller to a thermal printer which prints a digitally-coded “sticky bag tag” receipt, which both seals the customer's portable food container and which can be read at checkout to facilitate payment and inventory processes.

This release may decouple the payload and at a least a portion of the cable from the UAV, thereby delivering the payload at the delivery location.

Abstract: Method for chemical vapor infiltration of refractory substances, wherein a porous structure is subjected in a reaction zone to the flow of a gas containing at least one gaseous precursor, wherein the partial pressure of the precursor and the dwell time of the gas are set at a given temperature in such a manner that a deposition reaction of the precursor occurs in the porous structure in the partial pressure range of the saturation adsorption and the reaction of the precursor is limited in each stage of the infiltration in such a manner that during the flow through the reaction zone no more than 50% of the precursor are deposited as a solid phase in the porous structure, and the exposure of the porous structure to the flow occurs in a stack of superimposed layers through ring-shaped vertical circumferential gaps (A, B) as well as through transverse gaps (C) which are open towards the circumferential gaps (A, B).

  • Patent number: 9347821
Abstract: A refuse container provides an indication of the weight of the refuse stored therein and provides a danger alert when the weight of the refuse nears or exceeds a predetermined maximum. A display can display a value based on the weight of the refuse held in the refuse container. Further, one or more light sources can provide an indication of the weight of the refuse held in the refuse container. For example, the number of light source lit can provide an indication of the weight of the refuse held in the refuse container. A scale in the refuse container measures the weight of the refuse held therein. A controller uses the weight of the refuse held in the refuse container to determine the value to display on the display and whether to activate the light sources.

  • Patent number: 9298706
Abstract: A system and method for making custom boxes for objects of random size or shape includes physical measurement apparatus having two or more mutually orthogonal surfaces, each surface including a plurality of computer-readable codes representing distances to one of the other surfaces. At least one object is placed or transferred into apparatus so as to contact as many of the surfaces as possible. The codes are read on each surface to determine the greatest physical extent of the object in multiple dimensions, and the dimensions are delivered to a carton making machine to construct a custom carton to accommodate the object in the multiple dimensions. The physical measurement apparatus preferably includes a primary horizontal surface and two upstanding vertical surfaces, and the computer-readable codes are scannable bar codes arranged as matrices on each surface.
