  • Patent number: 4809798
Abstract: Transport carrier apparatus and techniques are described for transporting repair items to and from an agricultural pivot sprinkler device of the type used to irrigate row crops. The apparatus is self-propelled and includes: (a) a frame having an open front to receive repair items, (b) support area at the front of the frame to support the repair items being transported, (c) at least four wheels attached to the frame to support it above the ground, (d) a power source (e.g., a gasoline engine) for driving the wheels, and (e) handles on the rear portion of the frame for steering the apparatus. The transport apparatus is sufficiently narrow to enable it to travel between adjacent rows of growing row crops so that replacement wheels, gear boxes, etc. can be transported to and from a tower of the sprinkler system without trampling the crops. In a preferred embodiment the apparatus includes a transmission having forward and reverse gears.

  • Patent number: 4807712
Abstract: A self-propelled table for carrying and/or lifting/lowering objects for invalid people having a hollow plastic upper enclosure which is padded at the edges and upon the surface of which contains anti-slip recesses and a joystring assembly. The lower portion of this assemblage is attached to a vertically mounted, telescoping tubular assembly which may be either fixed or supplemented with a motor-power assembly with which to adjust the height-away-from-the-floor of the uppermost serving surface. The bottom of the tubular assembly is attached to the upper portion of a hollow plastic lower enclosure which contains wheels, motors, batteries, and electronic circuits to translate the electronic signals from the joystring into meaningful wheel motions. Pulling the free end of the joystring causes the invention to propell itself and it's load in the same direction that the joystring was pulled; thereby providing handicapped people with the ability to perform simple tasks unassisted.

  • Patent number: 4669561
Abstract: A main transmission gear secured to the end of the main transmission shaft which transmits power to another shaft by engaging a bevel gear secured to that shaft. The power is subsequently transmitted to the driving wheel by means of a chain to two sprockets, one coaxial with the bevel gear, the other fixed to a central shaft to which the driving wheel has been secured. The driving wheel has a thick layer of rubber attached on its steel rim. This outer circumference of rubber will result in better friction between the driving wheel and the ground. Two steel front wheels, set on opposite sides of the driving wheel, each being set inside a wheel support which connects with the support leg of the cart. An adjustment screw which enables the relative elevation difference between the front wheel and the driving wheel to be adjusted so as to increase the driving force of the driving wheel. This transmission mechanism hence can efficiently transmit power from the motor to the driving wheel.

  • Patent number: 4657100
Abstract: This invention concerns a portable golf cart. It includes two wheels which support an axle upon which is mounted a main horizontal frame. An elongated bag support frame for holding the golf clubs is connected to the frame by a pivot connection so that the bag support frame can rotate from one position where it is essentially perpendicular to the horizontal frame to a second position where it is in alignment with such horizontal frame. The bag support frame can be locked in either position. The bag support frame itself is made of at least two sections that are pivoted with respect to each other so that they can be in an extended position or one section can be folded over the other so as to form a compact golf cart when the bag support frame is in its folded position and is rotated into alignment with the axle.

  • Patent number: 4589508
Abstract: A motorized wheelbarrow employing an engine to drive the wheel of the wheelbarrow. A unique friction drive transmission mechanism allows the wheelbarrow to be driven in either a forward or a reverse direction and can also stand in neutral while at the same time allowing the wheelbarrow to be accelerated gradually. In addition, a tire with a traction tread, can be used for the wheel so that the wheelbarrow has adequate traction in order to avoid becoming stuck in wet or rough terrain. The bed of the wheelbarrow is also capable of being pivoted upwardly in order to empty the bed without disrupting or upsetting the gasoline engine. The bed is easily removed so that various types of beds may be used interchangeably with the current invention. Those bed types include a flatbed, a bucket similar to that commonly used in the construction trades, and a stretcher-like bed which employs an additional set of handles on the front of the wheelbarrow.

  • Patent number: 4444284
Abstract: A control system for an industrial lift truck includes a housing, a cam plate rotatably mounted within said housing, and a plurality of switches urged against and riding on a surface of the cam plate. The cam plate is provided with grooves in its surface along a part of the paths defined by each switch traversing the plate. Accordingly, the movement of the plate actuates switches that are forced into or out of the corresponding groove. The closing and opening of switches produces signals which are used to select the speed and the drive direction of the lift truck. The cam plate can include detents which accommodate a ball as the cam is rotated to a position where the detent corresponds to the ball. The ball is urged into the detent by a spring. Consequently, the operator is able to select discrete speeds of the lift truck and the rotation of the cam plate is restricted. The control system can also include additional controllers for controlling other functions of the lift truck.
