Comprising Device, Mechanism, Or System For Either Repositioning A Movable Or Removable Closure Member Or Operating A Fastening Device Therefor Patents (Class 180/289)
  • Patent number: 6563421
Abstract: A security system (10) for providing a remote indication of a breach in security including an electronic device with an electronic device body (12) and a disabling member (14) couplable thereto. The electronic device is disabled by removing the disabling member (14). A security breach causes an alarm signal to be sent to the disabling member (14), which announces the receipt of an alarm signal. The electronic device can be a vehicle sound-reproduction device, and the disabling member (14) can be all or a portion of a face thereof. The alarm signal can be sent first by radio transmission that, if necessary, can be supplemented by a mobile communications transmission. The disabling member (14) could further act as a mobile communications pager and as a mobile telephone. The disabling member (14) could operate to affect operation of a vehicle in which the security system (10) is employed.

Abstract: An anti-theft cover assembly for use on the interior panel of an automobile door of the type including a door locking mechanism actuable by an actuator positioned in an opening in the interior door panel. The cover assembly includes a rigid cover plate sized and configured to fit over and cover the actuator. The cover plate includes a generally rectangular main body portion, a lip portion extending around the main body portion and a locator flange portion extending inwardly from the top edge of the main body portion and sized to fit within a recess in the door panel of the vehicle to provide a piloting action for the cover plate. A first magnetic tape is secured to the inner face of the main body portion of the cover plate and a second magnetic tape is secured to the door panel in surrounding relation to the actuator. The magnetic tape on the door panel fits snuggly within the lip portion of the cover with the cover in its anti-theft position.

  • Patent number: 4702094
Abstract: A solenoid activated locking system primarily for hood and trunk manual release systems for vehicles. The solenoid is connected to a cable tied to the latch of a conventional hood or trunk release system. Unless activated, the solenoid prevents manual release of the trunk or hood lids to prevent access to the truck or engine compartment to someone who has obtained unauthorized access to the vehicle interior. The solenoid is automatically actuated for a preselected period of time whenever the ignition is turned on or off or when a reset switch is closed for more than a minimum and less than a maximum period of time. In addition, the solenoid is activated automatically during closure of the hood or trunk lid to permit secure engagement of the corresponding latch mechanism. An emergency release cable, hidden in an obscure location external of the vehicle, is provided for enabling manual release of the solenoid in the event of vehicle battery failure or other otherwise disabling event.

  • Patent number: 4683975
Abstract: A power window control for a motor vehicle provides express or one-touch movement in response to short activations of a control element and traditional power window movement during activation of the control element for longer periods. The control provides for automatic window closing with activation of a power door lock element, as long as the ignition is off unless the ignition key is in the ignition switch and the driver's door is open. This allows single touch vehicle locking but helps prevents the operator from locking himself out of the vehicle with the key still inside. Window movement, once initiated in the open or close direction, is stopped in response to motor stall when the open or closed limit is reached.

  • Patent number: 4628300
Abstract: A motor vehicle theft deterring device designed to prevent access to the levers which control the operating of the door lock in a vehicle door. A cover strip of rigid material of predetermined length and width to substantially cover the space between the vehicle window glass and the outside panel of the vehicle door is formed with a downwardly extending support strip and a mounting plate at a right angle to one edge of the cover strip, the plate being attached to the sash of the automobile window to prevent the insertion of a rod or similar device to release the lock actuating levers in the vehicle door. In a modified form of the invention, an electrical switch is positioned in the mounting plate and is electrically connected to the horn relay to cause the horn to blow continuously in the lock cover is tampered with and the horn circuit is grounded by movement of the switch.

  • Patent number: 4598932
Abstract: A control means for a restraint belt retractor includes a latch bolt sensor directly actuating the disabling means of the retractor and movable between actuated and unactuated positions. The sensor is normally located in unactuated position in the path of movement of the latch bolt when the latch bolt is in latched position. As the latch bolt moves to unlatched position it engages the sensor and moves it to actuated position. The sensor is connected to an operating lever of the door latch through a lost motion connection. This connection provides an operative connection to the operating lever when the sensor is in the unactuated position and provides a free wheeling connection when the sensor is in an actuated position. This permits the inside and outside operators, which operate the operating lever, to be released and to free wheel relative to the sensor when the sensor is in actuated position.

  • Patent number: 4593544
Abstract: A central locking system with a two-door control for motor vehicles, in which certain locking operations are precluded in dependance on the position of the key of a starter switch of the driving engine. In order to prevent an unitentional locking of the vehicle doors under certain operating conditions, means are provided according to the present invention which enable a locking actuation of the central locking system exclusively by the interior actuating element of the driver door on the steering column side when the key is in the starter whereas only a mechanical locking of the individual front door on the passenger side is possible by way of the interior actuating element of this passenger door.

  • Patent number: 4543514
Abstract: The central locking system for motor vehicles comprises a plurality of catch drives reversibly driving between a locking position and an unlocking position. The catch drives are switched on for a pre-determined time duration in the locking direction by drive signals of a first time control circuit. The catch drives are energized in the unlocking direction by a second time control circuit for a pre-determined time duration. The time control circuits can be triggered alternately through a triggering control switch actuatable by means of a door key from outside the vehicle, or by means of a press-button switch actuatable from within the motor vehicle. The trigger inputs of the time control circuits are connected through separate trigger paths to the press-button switch.
