Publication number: 20040089274Abstract: A fuel delivery module for supplying fuel to an automobile is disclosed. The fuel delivery module has a receptacle for containing a supply of fuel. Further, the receptacle has a curved sidewall. A pump is positioned within the receptacle wherein the pump generates an acoustical wave having a known frequency. The pump having a pump inlet and wherein the pump inlet is located a 1/4 wavelength of the acoustical wave from the curved sidewall. A receptacle lid is configured to mate with the receptacle to define a closed volume.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 2002Publication date: May 13, 2004Applicant: Visteon Global Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Wayne Alan Nowicki

Publication number: 20040084246Abstract: Flow guides in the form of extensions that project internally from the housing of an electronic consumer device can contribute to undesirable noise emissions from the device. Proposed is an improved flow guide or extension that reduces propagation of flow induced vibrations to the housing, thereby improving the overall acoustic performance of the device.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2003Publication date: May 6, 2004Inventors: Mo Xu, YiRen Hong, WaiOnn Chee

Publication number: 20030196852Abstract: A technique for reducing acoustic noise emitted by a magnetic resonance imaging system includes providing energy dampening elements in the scanner, such as within the gradient coil assembly, between the gradient coil assembly and the primary magnet, and around the outer and inner peripheries of the primary magnet and RF coil. The elements may be formed to conform to the structures of the scanner, and may be tile-like elements which can be fitted to new scanners and retrofitted to existing equipment.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2003Publication date: October 23, 2003Inventors: David Dean, Robert Vavrek, Scott Mansell

Publication number: 20030183446Abstract: The present invention is a system and method to significantly reduce noise associated with air-moving devices such as an axial flow fan using a fan shroud and barrel combination with built in silencers such as Helmholtz resonators. The invention can be applied to a variety of applications such as a thermal management system for a fuel cell powered vehicle. The resonator can be a hollow cavity in networks attached to an outer or inner barrel or shroud and tuned to reduce noise at predetermined noise frequency ranges within the airflow. The invention can also attach stator members on the inner surface of the outer barrel to further reduce noise. Additional sound absorbing material, such as steel wool, can be disposed within the resonator cavity.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 26, 2002Publication date: October 2, 2003Applicant: Ford Motor CompanyInventors: Hemant S. Publication number: 20030116377Abstract: To dampen a sound created in an electrical tool or appliance having an air passage through which air is being forced, a sound damper is placed in the air passage. Preferably, a filter is provided upstream of the sound damper to prevent suspended particles, fibers, fumes and the like from entering the sound damper.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2002Publication date: June 26, 2003Inventors: Theo Huhn, Udo Gaertner
