Patent number: 9353821Abstract: A gas cup (36) is slidably disposed in the main chamber (34) of a housing (20) and a piston (50) is disposed spaced apart from the gas cup (36). The gas cup (36) includes a volume reducing device (110) for forcing a lubricant from a closed lubricant chamber (112) through a lubricant passage (108) to a lubricant reservoir (106) in response to a sliding movement of the piston (50). A flexible diaphragm (116) flexes into the closed lubricant chamber (112) in response to the sliding movement of the piston (50). A seal cap (118) sandwiches the flexible diaphragm (116) between the seal cap (118) and an annular projection (114) and the seal cap (118) includes a plurality of seal ports (120) for forcing the lubricant to flow from the closed lubricant chamber (112) through the lubricant passage (108) to the lubricant reservoir (106). The seal cap (118) includes a skirt (122) retained on the annular projection (114).Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2013Date of Patent: May 31, 2016Assignee: BeijingWest Industries Co., Ltd.Inventor: Saiman Lun

Patent number: 5107960Abstract: A compressor shielded from crankcase oil by a wall having a hole surrounded by a wiper through which a piston rod assembly passes and having the chamber between the crankcase and the underside of the piston provided with a pressure relief valve and an atmosphere vent having a check valve whereby the chamber is never at sub-atmospheric pressure and there is never gas flow through the wiper toward the piston.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1990Date of Patent: April 28, 1992Assignee: Rix Industries, Inc.Inventor: John F. Patent number: 5086691Abstract: A high-performance, robust gas-compression device of long-term reliability is adapted in particular for storing nitrogen gas under compression, and includes a substantially cylindrical body (1), a piston (4) partially projecting into the gas-storage chamber (2), upper (7) and lower (6) piston guiding sleeves surrounding the piston, a lubrication chamber (9) formed in one of the guiding sleeves, adapted for holding a lubrication fluid for lubricating the guiding sleeves, and respective annular sealing joints (14, 19) which are accomodated in the guiding sleeves. One annular sealing joint is formed with an annular groove in communication with the principal gas-storage chamber, thereby exposing that sealing joint to a pressure prevailing in the principal gas-storage chamber; the other sealing joint is exposed to a constant pressure from the lubricating fluid.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1990Date of Patent: February 11, 1992Assignee: Societe des Usines Quiri & CieInventor: Didier von Hatten

Patent number: 4441317Abstract: A piston and cylinder type thermal device and method of making the same are provided, the device having a cylinder member carrying a piston stem that has an outer end that projects out of the opening of an end of the cylinder member to be extended and retracted relative thereto upon changes of sensed temperature of a charge of material disposed in the cylinder member that operatively acts on a resilient stem seat disposed in the cylinder member and having an opening at one end thereof that receives an inner end of the stem therein. The stem has a lubricant thereon to tend to prevent abrasion between the stem and the seat during the extended and retracted movement therebetween. A lubricant storage unit is carried by the device and has therein a porous member with the lubricant absorbed therein and being operatively associated with the stem for applying the lubricant to the stem external of the end of the cylinder member during movement of the stem relative to the stem seat.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1981Date of Patent: April 10, 1984Assignee: Robertshaw Controls CompanyInventors: Denis G. Patent number: 4290511Abstract: A load-carrying, shock absorbing strut is provided comprising an outer tube for carrying a wheel axle journal. There is slidably accommodated in the tube a shock absorber cylinder which is connected with the chassis frame. A downwardly emerging piston rod of the cylinder is fastened to the bottom of the outer tube. Between the shock absorber cylinder and the outer tube there is provided a lubricant annular chamber of constant volume which is closed off above and below by upper and lower guide and sealing rings arranged on the outer tube. A sealing ring is arranged above each guide ring with axially limited play and comprise lubricant-sealing felt rings. To effect good dirt-deflecting action there is present above the upper sealing ring a dirt-deflecting ring which has the dual function of limiting the sealing ring axial play as well as removing dirt from the shock absorber cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1979Date of Patent: September 22, 1981Assignee: Firma August BilsteinInventors: Johannes J. de Baan, Adolf Adrian

Patent number: 4106592Abstract: A rod oiler assembly for oiling the piston rod of a cylinder assembly which presents a surface against which a lubricant impregnated material is retained by a removable housing. The lubricant-presenting member surrounds the piston rod and lubricates the rod when the rod moves relative to the cylinder itself, and thus rust and dirt and the like are combated by normal extension and contraction of the rod. The oiler assembly housing or retainer member presents a pocket in which the lubricant member is retained, and it has openings therein which are of various radial locations and which receive fasteners or pins for assembling the oiler to the end surface of a cylinder assembly. The lubricant member and the retainer member are arranged to be capable of opening so that they can move over the piston rod and then be positioned endlessly therearound, and the fasteners or pins extend through the retainer member and into openings or other arrangements with the cylinder assembly.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1977Date of Patent: August 15, 1978Assignee: J. Patent number: 4076103Abstract: In a gas-operated cylinder, the surfaces of the cylinder and piston that are in sliding contact are lubricated by an oil-impregnated wick disposed in an annular chamber at the rod end of the cylinder. The wick extends through radially inwardly extending openings in the chamber to contact the piston rod and also through axial openings in the chamber to contact the back side of the piston when the latter moves to the rod end of the cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1976Date of Patent: February 28, 1978Inventor: Bernard J.
