Patent number: 8448750Abstract: A machine lubrication system that includes an assembly for sensing the level of lubricant in the reservoir, the reservoir including a follower that travels axially within the reservoir and substantially conforms to an inner cross-sectional dimension thereof, a magnet being attached to the follower for actuation of a plurality of magnetically actuated switches. The system may include a first and second level sensor, which may be independently connected to one or more power sources, where the first level sensor may be associated with an operator station, and the second level sensor may be associated with a remote indicator.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2007Date of Patent: May 28, 2013Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Susan J. Gaugush, Ted J. Loeffelholz, James Frances Blubaugh, Douglas D. Long

Patent number: 6929098Abstract: An arrangement for lubricating the bearing surfaces between a tool of a hydraulic impact device and the impact device, the arrangement comprising a supply pump and a channel for supplying lubricant. The arrangement comprises at least two separate channels (19, 20), and both channels comprise a separate dosing pump (17, 18) which supply predetermined amounts of lubricant between the bearing surfaces when the impact device starts.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2002Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: Sandvik Tamrock OyInventors: Jouko Ilmarinen, Ossi Kahra, Mika Oksman, Timo Sippus

Patent number: 6296078Abstract: An axle bearing lubricating device includes a grease storage tank for providing lubricating grease to at least one grease propeller, the grease storage tank having a grease outlet, at least one grease propeller for propelling grease from the grease storage tank to a respective axle bearing, the at least one grease propeller each having a piston reciprocated to expel lubricating grease to a respective axle bearing, a manifold connected between the grease outlet of the grease storage tank and air holes on each grease propeller, and a high pressure system controlled to output high pressure air to the at least one grease propeller to reciprocate the piston in each grease propeller for enabling lubricating grease to be applied to each axle bearing.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2000Date of Patent: October 2, 2001Inventor: JoBee Liu

Patent number: 5667037Abstract: A lubrication system. There is an oil reservoir having a first inlet for oil and at least one outlet. A piston in the reservoir forces oil from the reservoir. There is a second inlet in the reservoir on a side of the piston remote from the outlet. Pressure can be exerted through the second inlet to urge the piston towards the reservoir to force oil from the outlet.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1995Date of Patent: September 16, 1997Inventor: Anton Orlitzky

Patent number: 5538407Abstract: Fluid proportions system for proportioning a fluid intermittently at various places. This fluid comes from a storage point and is added by an intermittently operating pump to a proportioner, which feeds a fixed volume of fluid to an outlet more or less independently of the pressure. For returning the reciprocating piston present in the proportioner, use is made of a further fluid which is connected to the proportioner by a further inlet line. A forced return movement of the piston is thereby achieved. Proportioning of fluid is realized by the proportioning fluid itself while return movement in the proportioner of the piston is realized by the control fluid.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1994Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: Groeneveld Transport Efficiency B.V.Inventor: Willem Van Der Hulst

Patent number: 5339924Abstract: A dosing device for a lubricating mechanism is constructed for discharging a measured volume of lubricant into a component to be lubricated, such as a rotary gear box in an aircraft. For this purpose the dosing device has a housing with a defined volume in which a piston is movable in an axial direction to define two chambers. The end walls of the housing are connected through quick coupling connectors to a lubricant supply and to the component to be lubricated. The device operates in such a way that the filling of one chamber with lubricant under pressure pushes the piston, and thus the lubricant in the other chamber, out into the component to be lubricated. Thus, always a precisely measured volume of lubricant is discharged from one chamber while the same volume is being filled into the other chamber and vice versa. A coupling adapter may be used for a quick reversal.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1993Date of Patent: August 23, 1994Assignee: Deutsche Aerospace Airbus GmbHInventor: Wilhelm Martens

Patent number: 5285871Abstract: A system for distributing measured quantities of viscous lubricant to a plurality of lubricating points. The system includes a plurality of injector cylinders and a container for viscous lubricant. A selectively operable hydraulic fluid pressure supply pump supplies hydraulic fluid to an hydraulic cylinder for pressurizing lubricant in the container at a low pressure to feed lubricant to the injector cylinders, and the fluid pressure supply pump supplies hydraulic fluid at a high pressure to the injector cylinders to feed lubricant to the lubricating points.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1992Date of Patent: February 15, 1994Assignee: Mechanical Tool & Engineering Co.Inventor: Donald A.
