A calculated carriage height is derived by adding the amount of time that a carriage is commanded to be raised and offsetting that by the amount of time that the carriage lower button is depressed. Abstract: Methods and apparatus contemplate a variable mast tilting feature that restricts mast tilt speeds and tilt ranges at a time when the forks are relatively high. Conversely, when the forks are low, no restrictions exist other than operating set-points. A High/Low switch on the mast determines when the forks are high or low. A tilt angle sensor (preferably a linear actuator on the tilt cylinder) determines the amount of mast tilt. A vertical masting feature automatically makes a mast substantially perpendicular to the ground. Activation of a vertical function change button, in combination with an activated tilt lever, causes the mast to upright itself (in either the forward or reverse directions of movement). Also, if the mast is relatively high, the speed of mast “uprighting” will be relatively slower than if the mast is relatively low. Hydraulic and electric circuit diagrams, to name a few, are also disclosed.

Abstract: A lifting framework for an industrial truck has an extendible mast guided on a guide mast by rollers. Means are provided for bracing the extendible mast with the guide mast so as to prevent the extendible mast from inclining in the lateral direction of the lifting framework relative to the guide mast. The bracing means are configured such that, when the extendible mast is located in the top end position, a vertical movement of the extendible mast relative to the guide mast is prevented in the region of each of the two columns. A hydraulic lifting cylinder and a stop for the top end position of the extendible mast are arranged here in the region of each column.

  • Patent number: 7240771
Abstract: A multistage mast assembly for use on a lift truck and method of operation for staging first and second mast sections of the multistage mast assembly. Each mast section has a retracted position and an extended position. The apparatus includes a mast staging hydraulic circuit which diverts hydraulic fluid from the second mast section actuator to the first mast section actuator using a multi-position valve having an open position and a restricted flow position. In the restricted flow position, hydraulic pressure in a hydraulic line supplying the second mast section increases to divert hydraulic fluid to the first mast section actuator before the second mast section reaches its extended position.

  • Patent number: 7219770
Abstract: A coordinated lift system with user selectable RF channels coordinates the raising and lowering of a vehicle relative to a surface by using wireless communications. The lift system includes at least two lift mechanisms each having support frame, including a post, a carriage, an actuating device, and a control device with a channel selector switch. The carriage is slidably mounted on the post and is configured to support a portion of the vehicle. The actuating device is engaged between the support frame and the carriage and is activated to move the carriage relative to the post. The control device is interfaced with the actuating device and includes an RF transceiver to enable communication by RF signals with the other control device. The channel on which the transceiver operates is user selectable in the field. A rechargeable battery may provide power to the control device to allow for increased mobility of the lift system.

  • Patent number: 7191872
Abstract: A material handling vehicle including a truck body and a fork assembly adjacent the truck body. A link arm extending between the truck body and the fork assembly has a proximal end and a distal end. A first pivot pin is fixed to the body and pivotally links the proximal end of the link arm to the body. A second pivot pin is fixed to the fork assembly and pivotally links the distal end of the link arm to the fork assembly. At least one of the first and second pivot pins includes an eccentric body interposed between ends. The eccentric body defines a first axis, and the ends define a second axis, wherein the link arm pivots about the first axis and rotation of the pivot pin about the second axis moves the first axis relative to the truck body to change the position of the fork assembly relative to the truck body.

Abstract: A lifting truck with a telescoping mast and a balancing cylinder is disclosed. The stages of the mast are each constructed with three vertical beams. A mechanism for extending the mast are contained in or near the side beams. The balancing cylinder exerts an upward force to counter the dead weight of the telescoping stages and other parts of the truck that are lifted. The balancing cylinder is connected to the lower portion of the first stage and the upper portion of the second stage. The beams making up the stages of the mast can be tubular or U-shaped to allow space for the balancing cylinder and/or hydraulic lines or control leads.

Abstract: A lifting truck such as a forklift truck which can be provided with a supply container which is especially easy to build. To this end, space is made on a carrier between a lifting device for the lifting platform of the forklift truck, a pump and two U-shaped guards. The supply container is arranged in this space. Since it lies there protected, there is no danger of impact-like stresses so that the supply container can be made of a relatively light-weight plastic, a feature that significantly simplifies both the production and also the assembly.
