    Abstract: In a lifting drive mechanism, first and second masts extend in the vertical direction. A lift platform is configured to be lifted or lowered along the first and second masts. A hanging belt includes a first end fixed to an upper portion of the lift platform and a second end fixed to the lower portion of the lift platform. An upper pulley supports the hanging belt. A driving pulley moves the hanging belt in a positive direction and a negative direction. An idler pulley is arranged in front of, in back of, or on both side of the drive pulley. A lower pulley is lower than the upper pulley and supports the hanging belt. A supporting member is pivotable around a fulcrum spaced away from a rotation center of the lower pulley in the horizontal direction, and is fixed. The supporting member includes a first end extending from the fulcrum in the horizontal direction and supporting the lower pulley such that the lower pulley is pivotable.

    Abstract: In an elevator emergency braking apparatus, a braking device main body has a main body braking surface facing a main rope and positioned at a first side of a main rope array, and a tapered surface facing the main body braking surface on an opposite side of the main rope array. An intermediate braking piece is disposed between mutually-adjacent main ropes inside the braking device main body. The intermediate braking piece is displaceable in a direction to be placed separably in contact with the main body braking surface. A wedge member is disposed between the tapered surface and the main rope array. The wedge member is separated from the main ropes during normal operation, and wedged between the tapered surface and the main ropes during braking.

    Abstract: In an elevating mechanism 14 where an elevating mechanism 17 carried so as to rise and fall along a fixed surface 16 is moved up and down through a suspension member 18, a braking mechanism 18 is born by the elevating mechanism 17 so as to pivot vertically. A tensile spring 32 is provided on the braking mechanism 31, for pivotally urging it to the direction close to the fixed surface 16, while the suspension member 18 is connected to the braking mechanism 31, for pulling the braking mechanism 31 in the direction apart from the fixed surface 16 due to the weight of the elevating mechanism 17, in opposition to the tensile spring 32. When the suspension member 18 is cut off, then the braking mechanism 31 comes into contact with and digs into the fixed surface 16 by action of the tensile spring 32, so that the elevating mechanism 17 can be stopped from falling.

The unlocking of the safety brake after a braking process is achieved by moving the load receiving portion with the assistance of the elevator drive unit oppositely to the direction of movement before the braking process, so that one of the abutments fastened to the load receiving portion strikes the fixing device to unlock it from the guide rail.

    Abstract: A progressive safety gear for elevators, having a console which encompasses one guide rail for an elevator car and is positioned in a transverse direction to the guide rail. Two brake shoes are mounted on the console so as to be positioned one on each side of the guide rail. One of the brake shoes functions as a passive brake shoe and other as an active brake shoe. The active brake shoe is supported on an eccentric which is fastened to a cam so that they rotate together. The cam and the eccentric are able to rotate about a common pivot. The cam and the eccentric together form a single-part actuating element. Moving the elevator car in the direction opposite to the direction of engagement causes the cam to rotate backwards, which in combination with the vertical play on the passive brake shoe enables the engaged safety gear to be easily and safely released again. An alternative version is provided which has a multi-part actuating element with an adjustable angle.

    Abstract: A mount for the safety device in a lift cage comprises an assembly for maintaining a catch system in a readiness position and for the movement thereof in at least one plane during the braking process. A catch housing is supported horizontally fixed in the readiness position and is held in the readiness position by a resilient plate lightly braced against the catch housing. When the safety device is triggered into a braking process the catch housing is urged upwardly against the resilient plate, out of the readiness position wherein the horizontal fixing is cancelled and self-centering of the catch housing in relation to the guide rails can occur. The transmission of braking/catching forces to the cage is damped and progressively sprung through the compression of the resilient plate.

    Abstract: A portable apparatus for raising and lowering a load vertically along a substantially vertical structure. The apparatus comprises a vertical guide, which is secured to the substantially vertical structure by a retainer. A carriage is movably attached to the vertical guide and a platform which supports the load is attached to the carriage. The carriage is raised and lowered along the vertical guide by some means whereby the load is raised and lowered along the vertical guide. The carriage also comprises a safety brake for immobilizing the carriage with respect to the vertical guide when the means for raising and lowering the carriage is inoperative or malfunctions. The apparatus further comprises wheels rotatingly attached to the bottom of the vertical guide and a hitch attached to the top of the vertical guide, such that the entire device may be towed behind a vehicle.
