Numerous trash removing assemblies adjacent the rotating rolls provide for removal of trash and other dry particles thus preventing escape of such particles into the atmosphere and minimizing health hazards at this and subsequent fiber process stages.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1976Date of Patent: November 28, 1978Assignee: Cotton, IncorporatedInventors: Allen R. Patent number: 4011631Abstract: At least one assembly grouping of cooperating cylindrical rollers comprising a rotatable worker and a rotatable stripper roller is mounted in specific relation to a rotatable carding drum. The worker roller performs a pick-up and retaining function in that it picks up the fibrous web from the carding drum, retains the fibrous web thereon and delivers it onto the stripper roller whereon the web is combed, cleaned and discharged onto the carding drum. This operation may be repeated a plural number of times until the web is discharged from the carding drum. The worker and stripper rollers are rotatably journalled in the carding drum housing, both rollers being rotatable in a first direction, while the carding drum is rotatable in a second direction. The carding drum and rollers have a planetary arrangement. In the arrangement of the rollers relative to the carding drum, the worker roller is mounted upstream relative to the stripper roller. The gauge distances among the drum and rollers is constant.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1975Date of Patent: March 15, 1977Inventor: Juan Barcons Estebanell

Patent number: 3968662Abstract: A card head for supplying pile fibers to a knitting machine is disclosed herein along with a method for using same. Precarded, pre cut fibers in sliver form are presented to a fluted roll in proximity to a highly polished nose guide. Sliver is fed therethrough to a clothed main cylinder rotating at a higher speed than the fluted roll to separate cut fibers from the sliver. Flats or the like are secured around a portion of the main cylinder and cooperate with the main cylinder in proper alignment of fibers floating thereon. A doffer roll is positioned adjacent the end of the flats, barely out of contact with the card clothing and rotating at a higher speed than the main cylinder. Teeth on the doffer thus remove the fibers from the main cylinder and properly present same to knitting needles passing thereacross. The card head is provided with cover plates to control air flow therethrough which assists in floating of the fibers and proper operation thereof.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1973Date of Patent: July 13, 1976Assignee: M.
