The tubular clearer is rotatable around the support member by the top roller such that the tubular clearer is located at a position where the tubular clearer is in contact with the top roller and a position where the tubular clearer is separated from the top roller. The tubular clearer is configured to block a fiber. A suction unit is configured to draw in the fiber that has been blocked by the tubular clearer.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a cleaning lip for a rotating roll of a textile machine in a rolling mill (1) for processing fibrous materials wherein the cleaning lip (9) is comprised of a combined carrying device and a lip, the length (1) of the lip (11, 23) being limited by a wiping edge (AK, AK.sub.1), and the lip is composed of plastic. On the lip (11, 23) and in proximity to the carrying device, a groove (12, 24) is placed which runs parallel to said wiping edge (AK, AK.sub.1) of the lip. Alternatively, the cleaning lip can be installed for the clearing of wrapping, in that, upon the roll (14) reversing its direction from an original direction, then the wiping edge (AK, AK.sub.1) of the lip (11, 23) swings itself out of its original roll surface contact position. Upon a subsequent change of roll rotation back to the original direction, the wiping edge (AK, AK.sub.1) also swings itself back to its original wiping contact position.

    Abstract: The apparatus monitors lap formation at a pair of rolls guiding a slubbing or sliver in a drafting arrangement for spinning machines. In the event of a lap or coil forming, for example, on a pressure roll, a piston rod of a piston is shifted away until a switching element touches a contact edge or region of a switching sleeve. A cylinder housing encircling the switching sleeve and otherwise electrically separated from the piston is thus short-circuited with the piston. Since the switching sleeve and piston are separately connected to a control unit, a switching function is effected in the control unit by this short-circuit and the drafting arrangement is thereby stopped. The switching sleeve is slidably guided on a guide rod mounted at an upper part in such a manner that the frictional resistance is greater than the weight of the switching sleeve.

    Abstract: A cleaning arrangement for the pressing rollers of a combing machine which are pressed toward associated detaching rollers includes at least one cleaning roller which is mounted for free rotation in engagement with the respective pressing roller about an axis parallel to that of such pressing roller. The cleaning roller has a smooth outer surface to which fibers will not adhere. During the operation of the combing machine, the pressing rollers conduct controlled intermittent rotary movements, but the cleaning roller does not immediately follow such movements; rather, a certain degree if slippage occurs between the cleaning roller and the respective pressing roller, resulting in stripping off of any fibers which may adhere to the pressing roller.

    Abstract: An improved clearer for the drawing rolls, namely the top rolls, of spinning machines and like equipment. The clearer comprises a main frame or supporting structure for a clearing belt. The frame is pivoted adjacent the rear end of the apparatus. Carried by a portion of the frame are spring members which respectively press the belt into frictional driving engagement with a serrated roller forming part of the roll system and into clearing contact with one of the forward rollers which is to be cleared. The relationship of the parts is such that the belt also engages the upper surface of at least one other roller which is forwardly mounted relative to the roller just mentioned, to clear the same. Also, the clearer is provided with idler rolls for the belt which are located lower than the top of the cross member of the frame thus to reduce the overall vertical dimensions of the device and to get more "wrap" on the forward top roll, resulting in better clearing.
