  • Patent number: 4738344
Abstract: A friction clutch wherein a clutch disc is disposed between a flywheel, and a pressure plate fixed to the flywheel via a clutch cover secured to the flywheel, such that the clutch disc is normally held in pressed contact with the flywheel and pressure plate, with the pressure plate biased by a diaphragm spring against the clutch disc. The diaphragm spring engages the clutch cover at its outer end and engages a releasing member at its inner end, such that the spring normally biases the pressure plate at its intermediate portion. The clutch disc is released from the flywheel and pressure plate when the releasing member is operated to free the pressure plate from the biasing action of the spring. The friction clutch has a stopper device for limiting a maximum permissible length of axial displacement of the pressure plate toward the clutch disc due to wear of the clutch disc. This length is determined to the smaller than X.multidot.

  • Patent number: 4662498
Abstract: A friction clutch wherein the mechanical advantage or lever ratio can be varied without changing the construction of the release levers. This is achieved by changing the location of the pivot pins that connect the levers to the pressure plate, and by elongating the release lever holes through which the pivot pins pass. Changing the location of a pivot pin with respect to its supporting lugs on the pressure plate will cause a change in the location of the pin along the length of the elongated pivot pin holes in its corresponding release lever, and this in turn operates to change the mechanical advantage exerted by the lever on the pressure plate.

  • Patent number: 4601377
Abstract: A method is disclosed for adjusting a plurality of release levers in a friction disc clutch. The method ensures that the inner or nose ends of the release levers lie in a common plane upon final clutch assembly. In a preferred form, rivets of varying head thicknesses are affixed to the nose ends of the release levers, one rivet per each lever, each selected according to an actually measured amount of axial deviation in the nose end to which it is to be affixed. Each rivet is preferably visually identifiable by color or other marking to indicate its specific head thickness, which corresponds to an expected deviation range. The invention therefore provides a mass production technique which ensures adjustment of inner nose ends of release levers during the assembly of a friction disc clutch, whereby the inner nose ends of the release levers thereof will lie in a common radially extending plane.

  • Patent number: 4150738
Abstract: An electromagnetic clutch comprises a pulley rotatable about a shaft, an armature which is axially movably connected to the shaft and faces a portion of the pulley so as to contact with electromagnetic force thereby coupling the pulley and the shaft, an electromagnet with a winding and a core which has cylindrical face coaxial of the shaft, a part of which core faces to a part of the pulley with small air gap so as to make magnetic circuit, a supporting member which has a cylindrical portion surrounding the shaft with a gap and rotatably supporting the pulley through a bearing, and a flange portion spreading out from the one end of the cylindrical portion. The supporting member is secured to the core of the electromagnet with the flange portion tightly inserted in the cylindrical face of the core, thereby defining an electromagnetic assembly in which a recess for engagement with a machine is formed.
