  • Patent number: 5592733
Abstract: Presented is a hardware insertion press of the type for insertion of fasteners in sheet metal. The press incorporates both operator and tool protection systems that prevent the operator from being injured during use of the press, and which prevent the tool from being damaged by misalignment of a fastener in relation to the workpiece to which the fastener is intended to be fastened. For operator safety, the press is equipped so that the ram will retract if the tool encounters a part of the operator's body, such as a hand or finger. For tool protection the press incorporates mechanisms that define the press "window" so that a misaligned fastener encountered out of the range of the press window will cause the ram to be interrupted in its movement.

  • Patent number: 5137127
Abstract: Provided is a hill holder system operative to prevent a vehicle such as a truck having a fluid operated brake system from rolling backward down an incline or to assist an operator in braking when descending an incline. The system utilizes a control signal (C) provided by a central processing unit (10) operative to instruct a brake control valve (22) to close the brake balve exhaust port(s) (27) to maintain the brakes in an engaged condition whenever a selected speed condition such as vehicle ground speed is below a predetermined value. In other embodiments, selected vehicle drive train conditions such as either or both throttle and clutch position are processed in combination with the selected speed signal to effect braking in the manner desired.

  • Patent number: 5066077
Abstract: In a combined booster and hydraulic master cylinder assembly the reservoir connection is adapted to serve as an inlet for high pressure fluid and by way of which the assembly can be operated independently of the pedal. High pressure fluid is supplied to the connection under the control of auxiliary control valve responsive to signals for a sensor. The sensor may be arranged to enable the assembly to be used in a variety of modes, for example for traction control, as a `hill holder`, and for remote control of the speed of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4942949
Abstract: The present invention discloses an antislipping device for cars in a stationary state, which is able to automatically hold the brakes of cars in a stationary state so as to prevent them from moving when stationed on inclined ground. The antislipping device for cars in a stationary state includes a tachometer for detecting the rotation of the car wheels and outputing signal which indicates if the car wheels are in a state of rotation or not; a hold device for preventing the brake pedal of the car from moving backward and holding on the brake pedal when the brake pedal is trodden down to stop the moving of the car; and a CPU electrically connected with the tachometer and the device, for receiving the output signal from the tachometer and conducting the hold device to release the brake pedal when the wheels of the car are kept still and the accelerator pedal of the car is trodden down to exceed a predetermined extent.

  • Patent number: 4799395
Abstract: The invention relates to a motor vehicle gearbox, and is characterized in that a one-way clutch is connected between the releasable gear for the first gear speed and the gearbox housing. The one-way clutch blocks the gear against rotation in the direction for backing the vehicle, thus preventing the vehicle from rolling backwards when starting on an upward incline.

  • Patent number: 4280610
Abstract: An improvement is disclosed for a machine of the type having a main drive which may be activated to move a ram with a high force against a workpiece. The improvement is a safety device which includes an apparatus in addition to the main drive for moving the ram to a position near the workpiece with a low force capable of being stopped by contact with a part of the human body. Further apparatus is provided that allows the main drive to become activated only when the ram is within a preselected distance of the workpiece. As a result, the distance can be selected to be smaller than, say, a finger, so that the presence of a finger between the ram and a workpiece will prevent the ram from being driven at a high force.
