  • Patent number: 5140206
Abstract: An actuator which comprises a reversible motor, a solenoid, movable clutch disc to be attracted by the solenoid, a driving clutch disc supported rotatably between the movable clutch disc and the solenoid and driven by the motor. The movable clutch disc and the driving clutch disc are provided with teeth to be engaged with each other and having inclined engaging flanks so as to be disengaged from each other due to slippage caused between the inclined engaging flanks of the teeth. According to this invention, it is possible to interrupt a force larger than a predetermined value and transmit reliably a smaller force to prevent damage to the throttle members.

  • Patent number: 4980591
Abstract: A one-way clutch for a reduction-geared motor having a reversible electric motor and reduction gears allows an output shaft thereof to rotate in a normal direction and firmly prevents the output shaft from rotating in a reverse direction when the reversible electric motor is not fed. The one-way clutch includes a transmission gear supported on the output shaft wherein a sawtooth is provided on one side of the transmission gear. A clutch, axially movable relative to the output shaft, has a sawtooth facing the sawtooth of the transmission gear. The clutch also provides a radially located rotation-prevention portion. A compression spring is included for urging the clutch for the transmission gear in a direction along the axis of the output shaft. A stopper pin in the gear casing is inserted into the rotation prevention portion of the clutch. An electromagnet in the gear casing urges the clutch in a direction opposite to the direction urged by the compression spring when the electromagnet is fed.

  • Patent number: 4694671
Abstract: A press comprising a frame with an anvil support and a punch carrier, the latter being mounted on the frame so as to be movable between two ends of travel towards and away from the anvil support. A piston and cylinder arrangement is arranged to act on the punch carrier to urge the latter in a direction towards the anvil support. That one of the two ends of travel of the punch carrier which iscloser to the anvil support is defined by a part or parts of the press itself. A limit switch is operable by means of the motion of the punch carrier, or a part connected thereto, in the said direction when the remaining available travel is a distance which is less than the thickness of an operator's finger, to enable the piston and cylinder arrangement to act on the punch carrier with a working force in the said direction up to the end of its travel.

  • Patent number: 4527684
Abstract: A reciprocating sensing shield for use in connection with a power press such as a press break or bending machine is operatively mounted on the press ram for relative vertical movement and is controlled to be positioned to guard the "pinch point" of the dies and furthermore to stop downward movement of the ram should an operator's fingers or hands be in the proximity to the "pinch point" just prior to the movable die arriving thereat. The ram and shield descend as a unit until the ram reaches the "pinch point" at which time the shield is positioned to cover the break thereby to prevent an operator from inserting his hands or fingers into the break. As the ram reaches the "pinch point", the sensing shield immediately raises clear of the break. As the work piece is formed by continued descent of the ram, the ram reverses (rises) and the sensing shield is carried upwardly with it.

  • Patent number: 4324324
Abstract: Agricultural vehicles, such as a forage harvester, have been equipped with metal detectors. The metal detecting device is connected to stop the feed roll mechanism in a fraction of a second. In connection with this, it is important to shift the associated feed roll drive from a forward mode to a neutral mode. Such shifting, if done manually, may involve a delay sufficient to permit the harvester head to jam with crop material. Jamming is avoided by apparatus for automatically declutching a gear selector thus almost instantaneously shifting to the desired neutral mode in response to actuation of the metal detecting device.

  • Patent number: 3933089
Abstract: Safety apparatus for a press or the like having dies which are movable relative to each other and which define an open area therebetween for receiving an article includes a gate that is pivotable about a primary pivot axis from an open position to expose the open area to a closed position to shield the open area, and a secondary pivot axis that is parallel to and spaced from the primary axis. In the closed position, the gate engages a normally closed switch means and thereby enable the dies to move towards each other. When the gate is in the closed position and an obstruction is aligned with the gate, movement of the dies causes the obstruction to contact the gate which is pivoted about the secondary pivot axis, whereby the switch means closes and movement of the dies is interrupted.
