  • Patent number: 5800270
Abstract: A clutch disc assembly includes a flange having a plurality of window holes formed in a circumferential direction about the flange. A clutch plate and a retaining plate are disposed on either side the flange. The clutch plate and the retaining plate are fixed to each other and include a plurality of window holes corresponding to the window holes of the flange. A plurality of first coil springs are disposed in the window holes of the flange such that each end of the first coil springs are supported in the circumferential direction by the window holes in the retaining plate and the clutch plate. Protrusions are formed on circumferentially opposite ends of the window holes in the flange. The protrusions are configured to engage the first coil spring in response to rotary displacement between the flange and the retaining and clutch plates. Upon engagement between the ends of the first coil spring and the protrusions, the protrusions limit the radial outward movement of the first coil spring.

  • Patent number: 5788041
Abstract: A clutch friction element having elongate elastic elements (24) interposed circumferentially between two guide washers (18) and a shell (20). Recesses (27), which the shell (20) has for the elongate elements (24), are open radially. The guide washers (18) are connected to each other by an arch (45) and, on the internal surface of this arch, a lining (46) of synthetic material is applied radially.

  • Patent number: 5772515
Abstract: In a torque damper including damper springs accommodated in a channel defined around an outer periphery of a transmitting member with guide sheets sandwiched therebetween, notches are provided in an outer peripheral wall of the channel. Radially outward directed positioning claws on the guide sheets are engaged in the notches and urged axially by radially outward directed retaining claws on guide plates which are secured to a transmitting member to cover outer surfaces of the damper springs in the channel. Thus, the circumferential and axial movements of the guide sheets can be inhibited to prevent vibration of the guide sheets and wearing of the channel.

  • Patent number: 5769195
Abstract: In a lock-up clutch for a torque convertor, the number of mechanical parts is reduced to thereby simplify the structure. The lock-up clutch used in the torque convertor is provided with a clutch portion composed of a piston member and an elastic coupling portion composed of an outer circumferential support member and arc springs. The arc springs extend in the circumferential direction. The outer circumferential support member integrally includes outer circumferential support portions for covering outer circumferences of the arc springs and circumferential direction support portions engages with both ends, in the circumferential direction, of the arc springs.

  • Patent number: 5752885
Abstract: A torque fluctuation absorbing apparatus includes a torque input member coaxially assembled with an output member through a plurality of circumferentially equally spaced resilient elements in such a manner that the resilient elements are enclosed by the torque input member and maintained in engagement with the torque input and output members to transmit input torque from the input member to the output member. The output member has a hub portion formed with a plurality of circumferentially equally spaced through holes through which a plurality of mounting bolts are inserted and threaded into a hub portion of the torque input member for connection to a drive shaft. The through holes of the output member are each formed to contain the head portion of one of the mounting bolts in such a manner as to permit relative rotaion of the torque input and output members.

  • Patent number: 5657845
Abstract: A disclosed clutch driven disc assembly includes a hub having an axis of rotation. A driven disc of the assembly is rotatably disposed over the hub and has a friction element disposed thereon. The disc also has a plurality of spring openings radially disposed between the hub and the friction element. A reinforcing plate having a plurality of spring openings aligned with the spring openings in the disc is fixed to each side of the disc. A cover plate having a plurality of spring openings is disposed over each of the reinforcing plates with the spring openings of all parts aligned. The cover plates are fixed to the hub for rotation therewith. A plurality of compression coil springs are disposed in the spring openings with the springs oriented such that relative rotation between the hub and the disc tends to compress the springs.
