  • Patent number: 11761496
Abstract: To provide a simple-structured cam clutch that does not require precise control, uses a smaller drive force for forcibly changing cam postures, and provides improved clutch operation stability and high responsiveness. The cam clutch includes a plurality of cams circumferentially arranged between an inner race and an outer race and supported by a cage member, and a selector allowing a rotation angle thereof to be controlled relatively to the inner race or the outer race to which the cage member is fixed. The selector has a cam posture control surface in contact with cam surfaces of the cams and capable of causing the cams to change posture thereof. The cam posture control surface includes a cam release portion radially protruded toward the cams more than a cam actuator portion and causing the cams to change posture thereof to a non-operating posture.

  • Patent number: 11453103
Abstract: A locking clutch ratchet wrench (1) is configured such that a clutch ring (500) forms the mid part of aminate like structure. Under torque applying conditions, the compression forces applied to the clutch ring (500) are substantially dissipated around the circumference (507) of the clutch ring. This inwardly directed force clamp against the inherently strong outer surface 405 of the drive element (400). The resultant pseudo laminate structure of the drive element (400), clutch (500) and housing (201, 202) enables the construction of a proportionately stronger ratchet wrench of reduced height or width.

Abstract: The mechanical technology of converting oscillatory motion, into one direction of rotation, as described and claimed in U.S. Pat. No. 5,881,609, while being efficient, useful and having numerous applications, has its disadvantage of not being able to function unless user employs both hands; one hand to apply oscillatory motion to an input, while opposite hand immobilizes the axial rotation of the converting gear-train, in order for the conversion to be activated. Hence, the goal of this documentation, is to teach several different means, that maintain the immobility of axial rotation of the dual-drive gear train in order to activate the dual-drive feature, without the use of either of user's hands, thereby conveniently leaving one of user's hands available for holding a work piece.

  • Patent number: 10335928
Abstract: The present invention provides a wrench comprising a handle, having a cylindrical inner surface as a first surface; a torque output member, arranged within the first surface of the handle, the torque output member having a cylindrical outer surface as a second surface; one or more wedging member(s), arranged between the first surface and the second surface; varied distance being between the first surface and the second surface, so that the wedge members can prevent the rotation of the first surface relative to the second surface in a predetermined direction. The wrench according to the present invention adopts wedge member to prevent the rotation of the handle relative to the torque output member. When the handle idles relative to the torque output member, only the wedge member will leave the stop position and no sound will be made. Such a wrench is a quiet wrench. Adopting such a configuration not only can reduce wearing of the wrench, extend the service life of the wrench, and improve the user's experience.

Abstract: An actuator shifts a selectable one-way clutch (SOWC) between a plurality of operating modes. A first spring has a preload compression that is equivalent to a first start pressure. A second spring, disposed adjacent to the first spring, has a preload compression that is equivalent to a second start pressure. A plunger movably contacts the first spring and a slide plate movably extends from the plunger. The slide plate engages the SOWC such that the SOWC shifts between the operating modes in response to movement of the slide plate. The first spring is compressible from beyond the preload compression to a first stop position as the pressure is increased from the first start pressure to a first stop pressure. The second spring is compressible from beyond the respective preload compression to a second stop position as the pressure is increased from the second start pressure to a second stop pressure.

Abstract: A ratchet mechanism contains a chamber defined by at least one gear surface, a rotating member positioned at least partially within the chamber, a gear member rotatably attached to the rotating member and positioned at least partially within the chamber, and a stop member engaging the rotating member, such that the rotating member and the stop member rotate in unison. The center of rotation of the gear member is offset from the center of rotation of the rotating member. The gear member includes a gear body having a plurality of gear teeth around an outer periphery thereof. At least a portion of the gear teeth engage the gear surface. The gear member can rotate freely in a first rotational direction, and a portion of the stop member abuts a portion of the gear member to prevent rotation of the gear member in a second, opposed rotational direction.

Abstract: A bidirectional clutch with opposing output drives mounted over an internal support shaft, and a bidirectional clutch jaw positioned between them. The clutch jaw has opposing cam surfaces which cooperate with cam surfaces on the inside edge of the output drives. The clutch jaw further has forward and reverse driving surfaces which are associated with forward and reverse driving surfaces on the output drives. The clutch jaw moves between the output drives and engages only one output drive at a time. When the clutch is reversed, the cam surface on the output drive which was being driven imparts lateral force to the clutch jaw which moves it away from the active output drive to the inactive output drive. The clutch jaw disengages from the active output drive and then begins rotating the inactive output drive in the reverse direction.

Abstract: Example aspects of the present invention broadly comprise at least two concentric rings with complementary ramped surfaces, at least one of the rings being rotatable relative to another one of the rings so that contact is made at the ramped surfaces. The complementary ramped surfaces form respective circumferences of the rings. At least one of the ramped surfaces may have a sinusoidal profile, or a profile forming at least one of a straight line, concave, or convex. In some example embodiments of the invention, a first one of the rings is a coupling member and a second one of the rings is a tubular slipper with a friction surface radially opposite of the ramped surface. The tubular slipper is arranged to radially expand or contract upon contacting the coupling member.

Abstract: An automatic washing machine comprises a spin tube coupled to the basket and an agitator shaft coupled to an agitator mounted in the basket. A motor coupled to the agitator shaft applies a torque the agitator shaft and thereby the agitator in first and second torque directions. A clutch couples the spin tube to the agitator shaft for cooperative rotation of the basket and the agitator regardless of the rotational direction of the agitator shaft. Because of the dual directionality of the clutch, reversing the motor simultaneously dynamically brakes the basket and the agitator, thereby eliminating the need for a separate friction brake for the basket.

Abstract: A continuously adjustable rotation device includes a base, a first connection element combined with the base, a ring buckle, a transmission disc, a second connection element, and a rotation controller. The transmission disc is formed on the contacting portion of the base, forming an inclination angle and contacting the second connection element for transmission of force. By using the rotation controller, one can select a rotation direction by properly contacting with the transmission disc. When the rotation direction is selected, the second connection element and the transmission disc then drive the first connection element to rotate in the designated direction. One can thus perform a continuously adjustable rotation. Therefore, no alignment is needed when assembling the rotation device, which will enhance the production yield and lower the manufacturing cost.
