  • Patent number: 8813937
Abstract: A clutch control assembly for a transmission, including a piston plate including a first side having a first circumferentially aligned and axially extending ramp, and a second side. The assembly includes an adjustment ring in contact with the first ramp, and at least one rotary piston with a first end fixed to the adjustment ring. In response to a first force applied to the second radially disposed side and the at least one rotary piston, the at least one rotary piston is displaceable to urge the adjustment ring in a first circumferential direction along the first ramp such that the adjustment rings displaces in a first axial direction away from the piston plate.

  • Patent number: 8543304
Abstract: A method operates a clutch release system of a vehicle having an electrically actuable clutch release unit including a sensor for detecting a position of a release piston, a control unit for controlling the release piston as a function of a detected position of a clutch actuating device, and a sensor for detecting the position of the clutch actuating device. A characteristic curve function describes a relationship between the position of the clutch actuating device and the position of the release piston. The function is taken into consideration during actuation of the clutch release system to obtain a consistent clutch release at a defined position of the clutch actuating device despite progressive wear of the clutch release system.

  • Publication number: 20130228407
Abstract: A master device for a closed hydraulic system of handlebar-steered vehicles includes a basic body and a pressure chamber in which, in the event of actuation of the master device in order to actuate a slave device, hydraulic fluid is placed under pressure. The master device includes a hydraulic line connecting element having a connecting piece for connecting a hydraulic line and a thread section for screwing into the basic body. An air bleed opening bleeds the hydraulic system. The hydraulic line connecting element and the basic body form a valve that closes the connection between the pressure chamber and the air bleed opening when the hydraulic line connecting element is fully screwed in to the basic body.

  • Patent number: 8452499
Abstract: A control system for a transmission engages three clutches to create braking within the transmission to slow a machine during a shuttle shifting operation. The control system may apply the clutches so as to allocate wear between the clutches equally or unequally, as desired.

  • Patent number: 8292055
Abstract: In transmissions having input clutches, a lever arm configured as a second class lever is pivoted at one end, applies force to a clutch bearing near its middle and is acted upon by a linear actuator at its opposite end. The present invention relates to mechanisms for adjusting the location of the pivot to compensate for clutch wear. The fixed pivot is replaced by a linear one way clutch mechanism. As the clutch facing wears and the clutch is activated, an extension of the actuating lever arm abuts a stationary stop beyond the one way clutch pivot which translates the pivot point provided by the one way clutch mechanism toward the clutch to reduce pre-travel and compensate for clutch facing wear. Hydraulic and spring biasing of the pivot point are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8272483
Abstract: In a vehicle wet-type multi-plate brake device, a piston sleeve 61 is slidably provided between an inner-peripheral surface of a hydraulic piston hole 57 accommodating a piston 55 and an outer-peripheral surface of the piston 55, and has a sliding resistance to move together with the piston 55. A return plate 67 is capable of coming into contact with only the sleeve 61 and of moving by a predetermined distance together with the sleeve 61. When a hydraulic pressure is supplied to an oil chamber 59, the piston 55 and the sleeve 61 move together by a predetermined distance C against a returning force of the return plate 67, and then only the piston 55 slides until coming into contact with a brake plate so that a positional relationship between the piston 55 and the sleeve 61 is constantly maintained and a stroke of the piston 55 is constantly maintained.

  • Publication number: 20120138413
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of operating an electro-hydraulic control system for a dual clutch transmission having seven forward speeds or gear ratios and reverse. The control system includes an oil delivery subsystem, a clutch control subsystem and a synchronizer control subsystem. All three subsystems are under the control of a transmission control module. The method of operation includes gathering data from various shaft speed, clutch position and shift actuator position sensors and utilizing pressure control (PCS) and flow control (FCS) solenoid valves and a logic valve to pre-stage and engage (and disengage) hydraulic shift actuators associated with a requested and current gear and to sequentially engage one of a pair of input clutches.

  • Patent number: 8157073
Abstract: A separable clutch for a motor vehicle has a clutch plate including a moveably mounted release unit. The clutch is pressure-medium actuated and includes an actuating piston acting on the release unit to engage and disengage the clutch, and a pressure chamber which is delimited at one side by at least one part of the actuating piston and at the other side by at least one part of a clamping piston. At least the actuating piston, the pressure chamber and the clamping piston are resiliently supported in a defined position against the release unit by spring force. The spring force is smaller than a limit force required for actuating the release unit. A pressure change in the pressure chamber, brought about by a clutch actuation causes the clamping piston to actuate a clamping device such that the clamping piston is fixed before the actuating piston actuates the release unit.

  • Patent number: 8083044
Abstract: A clutch actuator (6), as well as a method for operating a clutch (3), between the drive motor and the transmission (1) of a motor vehicle. The clutch actuator includes a cylinder with a piston (14) and an actuator (15), such that a clutch release bearing (4), arranged co-axially to the central axis of the clutch, may be operated to apply an axial pre-tensioning force on the clutch release bearing and conduct an operating medium into the clutch actuator for axially displacing the piston and/or the clutch release bearing. To simplify a clutch actuator of this type and enhance its utilization, the clutch actuator is configured and used for generating the pre-tensioning force.
