    Abstract: A device for connecting, in a rotationally fixed manner, a shaft to at least one component which is rotationally supported on the shaft, such as a gear wheel of a gear in a transmission. The device includes an actuating element that is rotationally fixed, but axially slides on the shaft, such that when the element is actuated by an actor, the element actively, frictionally communicates with the component to at least approximately equalize a rotational speed difference, between the component and the shaft. The actuating element can be actuated by the actor with a force to frictionally connect the component to the shaft in a rotationally fixed manner. The device further includes a holding device, which retains the actuating element in a shift condition essentially equivalent to the rotationally fixed condition of the component without further actuation of the actor.

A clutch engageable with the sprocket and the gear is provided, having projections or keys being positionable between the interfacing surfaces for releasably coupling the sprocket and the gear for joint rotation. A lever is provided for disengaging the clutch and the clutch may be biased to facilitate engagement of the clutch. A clip may also be provided to prevent lateral movement of the sprocket on the shaft when the clutch is disengaged.

    Abstract: A molding machine which performs molding by means of one mold part held by a fixed platen and the other mold part held by a movable platen movable toward and away from the one mold part. A shaft having an axis extending in the direction of reciprocal movement of the movable platen is disposed on a stationary frame for rotation with respect thereto and for reciprocal movement along the axis of the shaft, and is rotated by an electrical motor. First and second nut members are respectively screwed onto first and second threaded portions formed along the axis of the shaft. The first nut member is secured to one of the stationary frame and the movable platen while the second nut member is capable of being rigidly coupled with the other thereof via a clutch. While the shaft is being rotated, the second nut member is rigidly coupled with the other of the stationary frame and the movable platen via the clutch, a relative movement is produced between the shaft and the first and second nut members.

    Abstract: Apparatus for the control of the tilting movement and the sliding movement of the cover of slidable-tiltable roofs on vehicles with a rotatable hub on an input side, a driving pinion on an output side, an arrangement for establishing a driving connection between the hub and the driving pinion for producing a sliding movement of the cover and with a reduction stage which is engaged by axial shifting of a control gear for driving the driving pinion by way of the hub for the tilting movement with a reduced transmission ratio relative to that for the sliding movement. Engagement of the reduction stage occurs automatically when starting out from a cover reference position, the hub is moved in a rotational direction corresponding to that for producing the cover tilting movement. The rotational axes of the hub and of the driving pinion coincide and the control gear is disposed coaxially in relation to the common rotational axis of the hub and of the driving pinion.

    Abstract: In a fishing spinning reel of the type wherein a rotor is rotated by a handle through a main drag mechanism and a drag shaft, a boss of the handle is connected through screw threads to a sleeve which supports the main drag mechanism, the drag shaft extends through the sleeve, and a drag knob is connected to one end of the drag shaft, there is provided an auxiliary drag mechanism interposed between the handle bars and the drag knob. The auxiliary drag mechanism comprises an annular ring interposed between the drag knob and the handle boss and a torque spring interposed between the annular ring and the handle boss so that when the handle is rotated in one direction the torque spring is compressed against the drag knob. The sleeve is provided with multiple threads and a polygonal portion adjacent the multiple threads, and the annular ring is provided with a polygonal opening to receive the polygonal portion.

A single power unit attached to one leg of a scaffolding tower can move, about the worksite, a large scaffolding tower assembly comprised of one or more individual scaffolding towers. Two power units working in tandem on separate legs of the scaffolding tower assemblage, provides increased maneuverability. Each power unit has separate motors to drive and to change the direction of a scaffolding tower assembly. One electric motor pivots the power unit about the scaffolding tower leg to which it is attached, thereby changing the direction of motion of the scaffolding tower assembly. Another electric motor of the power unit provides power to a drive wheel of the power unit, and consequently moves the scaffolding tower assembly.

    Abstract: A drive assembly includes a casing containing a planetary gear assembly. A speed control arrangement is provided in association with the planetary gear assembly to vary the speed of rotation of an output member relative to the speed of rotation of an input member. The speed control arrangement includes a first disc pack which is engaged under the influence of a spring to prevent relative rotation between a ring gear and a planet carrier. A second disc pack is also engageable under the influence of a spring to prevent rotation of the ring gear relative to the casing. Hydraulic motors are selectively operable to release the disc packs against the influence of the associated springs. In the event of a failure in the source of hydraulic fluid, both disc packs are engaged with a resulting braking of rotation of the driven wheel. A secondary or towing clutch is selectively disengageable to release the output member and wheel for rotation, even though both of the disc packs are engaged.

    Abstract: A drive for a wheeled vehicle including a hub adapted to receive the driving wheel of such vehicle. The hub receives and rotatably supports an axle having a worm screw thereon and positioned within such hub. The worm in turn supports an eccentrically weighted driver of drum-like configuration so that rotational force transmitted to the axle in either direction traverses the weighted driver back and forth within the hub in a generally upright position. The driver resists rotation with the axle by reason of its eccentrically weighted configuration. Driving contact is made between the outer face of the driver and the inner face of the hub ends at opposite sides thereof so that rotation of the axle will cause driving force to be imparted to the hub in either direction dependent on which end of the hub the driver is contacting.
