  • Publication number: 20090200141
Abstract: In sorting workpieces by using a panel sorting device, a lateral movement amount of a cross shuttle is approximately half of a width W of the workpiece, which is remarkably smaller than that in a conventional device. Therefore, the workpieces can be efficiently transferred to the panel chute in a short cycle time, thereby improving the productivity of a press line. Further, since the workpieces are transferred to two lateral places adjacent to each other on the panel chute and the laterally adjacent workpieces are not unnecessarily separated from each other, the size of the panel chute can be reduced. This, along with the small movement amount of the cross shuttle, enables the whole panel sorting device to be reduced in size and the installation space for the panel sorting device to be also reduced.

  • Patent number: 5271210
Abstract: In a film packaging machine wherein a pair of sealing bars are caused to move linearly with said film so as to increase the sealing cycle time, a pair of control belts are mounted so as to reciprocate in unison with said sealing bars. The control belts, which are oriented vertically at opposite edges of a central product conveyor and adapted to grip a product being wrapped, are rotated from a drive apparatus mounted to the machine body at a speed which equals the linear speed of reciprocation. Thus, the control belts do not rotate when the reciprocating motion is in the same direction as the direction in which the film and product move, and rotate at double the linear speed of reciprocation when the reciprocating motion is in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 5209339
Abstract: A conveyor system for multiplying one or more input streams of product into two or more output streams of product is constituted by an input conveyor (4) for conveying the one or more input streams of product, a transfer conveyor (5) which is movable bodily in a direction transverse to its conveying direction and which is arranged to receive products from the input conveyor (4), and a multi-lane output conveyor (6) which carries multiple side-by-side streams of product and is arranged to receive products from the transfer conveyor (5). The conveyor system also includes apparatus to control the forward movement of the products in the one or more input streams of product, and the forward movement of the products in each stream on the output conveyor (6) to enable the products to be aligned with one another across the output conveyor. Preferably the control apparatus collects successive products into groups so that the products are transferred from the input conveyor (4) to the transfer conveyor (5) in groups.

  • Patent number: 5197590
Abstract: A hopper loader interfaced with a variety of hoppers/feeders having a horizontal infeed conveyor with a hand-feed belt section near the input end movable between an operative position for hand-feed operation and a lowered position to facilitate automatic feeding. A positioning actuator is coupled between the hopper loader and the hopper to provide for automatic fine-tuning adjustment of the jogger position as well as for machine make-ready to accommodate changing product size. A single controller is provided for simultaneously positioning a plurality of loaders. The controller has adjustable stops for accommodating frequently used product formats. Automatic air delay shut-off saves energy by shutting off the air blast system a predetermiend delay after the loader is halted. further automatic means saves energy and prevents "over jogging" and damage to the product by turning off the jogger a predetermined delay interval after the loader stops.

  • Patent number: 4909697
Abstract: An automated work station which may be used when needed in conjunction with two vertical temporary holding conveyors makes use of a tiltable table and associated transition table for each conveyor. One tiltable table is shifted to a first upper horizontal position to receive empty boxes, one at a time, from its vertical conveyor. The other tiltable table is shifted to a first upper horizontal position to receive box units in which have been stored supply quantities of the different material items from which the operator selects specified quantities of items and places those items in the empty box units until an order is filled. The tiltable tables each have a tilted position for the operator's convenience while the boxes are being unloaded and loaded. When a box unit is to leave the tiltable table, the table is again tilted to a second and lower horizontal position from which the box unit is moved to a second lower horizontal level of the transition table.

  • Patent number: 4852721
Abstract: A ball-type conveyor has a stationary support frame and a plate on the support frame formed with a plurality of generally parallel rows of holes extending transversely of a longitudinal transport direction. Underneath each row of balls is a respective shaft that is journaled in the support frame for rotation about a respective transverse axis. Respective balls in the holes project upward through the holes beyond the plate and downward through the respective holes into engagement with the shaft of the respective row. The shafts can be rotated about the respective axes so as to rotate the balls to displace an object resting on the balls in the longitudinal transport direction. The conveyor has a guide for displacement of the plate and the balls transversely but not longitudinally of the direction through a predetermined transverse distance relative to the shafts and frame.
