Abstract: An auger airlock assembly and end dump housing having a spring loaded bottom for use in a bulk loader which utilizes a source of negative pressure to create a suction air stream that draws particulate materials into the loader for transfer, via the auger assembly, to a location remote of the loader. Materials exiting the auger assembly accumulate within the housing to a point wherein, once the accumulated material has acquired a certain weight, the bottom of the housing is forced open to permit discharge of the material, and, once the material is removed, and is not present in enough quantity to maintain the bottom of the housing to remain open, the spring loaded connection biases the bottom back into a position sealably closing the housing. The bottom of the housing may also be opened by the auger feeding more material into an already full housing, whereby the material is compressed so as to force the door open.

  • Patent number: 6763932
Abstract: The particulate material handling system comprises a tube, an endless belt that passes through the tube and returns outside of the tube, and a flighting that is suspended a predetermined distance from the belt through the entire length of the tube. The distance may be varied for the various materials being handled. An intake hopper is mounted at one end of the tube for receiving the material to be moved and a discharge spout is mounted at the other end of the tube for discharging the material from the tube. The endless belt and flighting are driven such that their speed may be varied and such that their relative speeds are synchronized to drive the material at substantially the same speed whether it is being carried by the belt or the flighting. The combination of the belt and the flighting drives the material through the tube, minimizing damage to the material, which may be granular fertilizer, pulse crops, grains or other particulate material.

The arm is pivoted out of the way in direction when agglomerated scraps/chips are dumped threw input opening into the input chute. Once the chips are dumped in place, the arm is allowed to rotate downwardly to press on the top of the agglomerated scraps/chips. This prevents the chips from "bridging" between the sides of the input chute and prevents the scraps from "balling" or rolling on top of the screw in a manner that makes the screw ineffective. • Patent number: 5370236
Abstract: A separator apparatus to separate less dense particulate material from dense particulate material has a tank for containing fluid which has sidewalls and a sloping bottom with upper and lower ends. A vertically oriented housing is secured to the tank and has an upper and lower end with the lower end being in the tank and the upper end extending above the tank. An auger means is mounted within the housing and extends the substantial length thereof. A discharge location is located in the tank adjacent the lower end of the bottom for removing dense objects therefrom. The housing has a discharge location at its upper end for discharging the less dense objects lifted from the tank by the auger apparatus. A spout is located at the discharge location for the housing and has a spout that has a wall tangential to the cylindrical housing for quickly and easily receiving less dense objects from the outer periphery of the helical flighting.

  • Patent number: 5348138
Abstract: A bird gate for a grain auger outlet includes a panel that extends across the auger outlet in a normal, closed position. It is biased to that position by a spring. When grain is delivered from the auger, it falls on the panel, biasing the panel to an open position and allowing the grain to be delivered from the auger. The closed position of the gate prevents birds from entering the auger for nesting.

  • Patent number: 5343995
Abstract: A controllable discharge spout assembly is used on the discharge end of an auger or other conveyor. The discharge spout assembly has an auxiliary, downwardly tapered spout that is mounted for universal movement below the conventional discharge of the conveyor. This control mechanism extends from the spout to an operator's station near the inlet end of the auger so that an operator standing on the ground may control the direction of flow of material from the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5337658
Abstract: A method and apparatus for conveying and compacting material which includes fractions of different sizes, densities, elasticity, moisture-content etc. wherein a shaftless spiral is disposed in a casing and the spiral is driven in rotation at an end of the casing where the material is fed into the casing. At the opposite end of the casing, i.e. the end located adjacent a discharge section of the casing, the casing surrounds the spiral with slight play, and, moreover, the casing extends in an end region below the spiral to form a correction zone. Counterpressure brakes the movement of the material to compact the material in the compaction zone. The casing is provided with drainage holes in the compaction zone for discharge of liquid expressed from the compacted material during passage through the compaction zone.

  • Patent number: 5333762
Abstract: A screw feeder for particulate solids comprises a trough section including a first chamber with a trough shaped side wall downwardly converging to a longitudinally tapered aperture. A screw chamber encloses a space below and connecting with the aperture. The screw chamber houses a feed screw which enters a feeder section in a transition region at the front wall of the agitator chamber. An agitator draws material away from the transition region of the agitator chamber.

Abstract: An apparatus for the storage and dispensing of particulate coffee in a domestic refrigerator comprising a sealed bin for preserving the freshness of the particulate coffee and a manually operated transfer mechanism for dispensing the coffee into a container for the preparation of coffee beverages. The transfer mechanism includes a rotary auger and a pick-up wheel disposed within the bin and operatively connected to a manual crank on the front of the bin. The auger feeds the coffee to the pick-up wheel, which deposits the coffee into a graduated chute from which the user may dispense the coffee to a suitable container.

  • Patent number: 5154326
Abstract: A conveying device used in weighing apparatus for conveying powder comprising a conveying cylinder which is subjected to a vibrational movement by a vibrator to finely control the powder exited from the cylinder. Inside the conveying cylinder, there is a shaft with first and second blade segments which is actuable to rotate, thereby receiving powder from a loading hopper and exiting the powder to an outside. The vibrational movement of the conveying cylinder is irrespective of the rotational movement of the shaft, and either one or both of the conveying cylinder and the shaft is selected to operate to obtain a desired quantity of powder, ranging from a very small quantity where only the vibrator operates to a very large quantity where both the vibrator and the shaft operate.

  • Patent number: 5143202
Abstract: A screw conveyor with a slowly rotating feed screw for precision metering by conveying very small amounts of loose material between screw threads, the same amount of loose material being discharged from the end of the conveyor with each turn of the screw. During the relatively short time interval of a single revolution, which can last one minute or even a multiple thereof as needed, the conveyor capacity itself fluctuates, since discrete amounts of the material being conveyed are always delimited by the individual threads of the feed screw. In order for a screw conveyor to be usable for precision metering of very small amounts to be conveyed; i.e. for conveying very small amounts with a high degree of constancy without the periodicity caused by the nature of the feed screw, the screw conveyor is provided with a rotatably mounted tube surrounding the discharge end of the fixed feed tube and which is driven at a rotational speed proportional to the rotational speed of screw.
