Abstract: In a grain cart equipped with a lower horizontally-disposed input drag auger, a vertically disposed lift auger, and an upper horizontally disposed discharge auger, a unique drive train is used. The lift auger and the discharge auger can be activated independently of the input auger in order to empty their contents on start-up of the grain cart discharge system. By so doing the strain on the drive train is considerably lessened thus permitting very large grain carts to be emptied without damage to the drive train system. A hydraulic cylinder activates a belt-tightener between a drive sheave and a driven sheave. The driven sheave is attached to the axis of the drag auger. When the hydraulic cylinder is extended, pressure exerted on the belt causes the input auger to rotate and to feed the lift and discharge augers.

  • Patent number: 5183147
Abstract: A system for handling agricultural chemicals, such as herbicides, pesticides, and the like which are supplied in dry form. A refillable tank includes an integral, internal auger that horizontally extends through the bottom portion of the tank and is adapted to feed dry chemicals from an outlet in one side of the integer auger, and an internal flow regulating system for apportioning the chemical into the auger. The internal tank auger is driven by a detachable drive motor which is connected to the drive end of the internal tank auger. A feeder hose having a flexible, internal auger detachably connects to the outlet end of the internal tank auger by a cam lock coupling provided on one end of the feeder hose and on the outlet end of the internal tank auger. An auger coupling extending from the cam lock coupling end of the feeder hose mateingly engages the internal tank auger when connected. A drybreak assembly connects the feeder hose with a planter hopper box for later dissemination.

  • Patent number: 5183148
Abstract: A screw feeder is provided having a lower screw shaft and an upper drive shaft which are detachably connected to each other. The drive shaft includes an outer tubular member, with an inner, generally solid, connecting member positioned within the drive shaft. The lower end of the tubular member of the drive shaft includes a generally tapered recess which is adapted to mate with a lower end of the connecting rod positioned therein. The lower end of the connecting rod has a plurality of generally axially arranged slits which make the lower rod end flexible, with the lower end having a generally frustoconical outer surface. The upper end of the screw shaft is adapted to be attached to the lower end of the drive shaft by at least one annular member which engages one of the shafts. The annular member has two inwardly protruding pins, with the lower end of the drive shaft having a portion with two generally L-shaped opposed recesses which are adapted to engage the pins.

  • Patent number: 5113227
Abstract: A waste toner conveyer of an image forming apparatus has a screw for conveying powdery toner along a toner conveying passage defined in the conveyer. The screw includes a plurality of strip-like spring members which are reciprocally moved along a longitudinal direction of the waste toner conveyer. The screw is secured to a rotary shaft. A pin fixed to the shaft rotates and slides along an irregular surface of a cam so as to reciprocate the screw horizontally during the rotation of the shaft. Accordingly, waste toner is shaken from the screw by an extension and retraction of the screw along the longitudinal axis so that such waste toner can fall through a waste toner outlet.

  • Patent number: 4964545
Abstract: The multipath filling machine or unit for metering, filling and packing pastry products, especially soup pastes, in two or more product rows has a feed mechanism, which has a conveying device, and a following metering mechanism. The conveying device has a plurality of conveyor screws extending in pairs to a pressing chamber of the metering mechanism. These conveyor screws are associated with a common entrance funnel for all rows of products so that a uniform product distribution, is attained in the narrowest space and thus an exact metering over.

  • Patent number: 4963066
Abstract: A grain hopper assembly to receive grain unloaded from a bottom unloading grain transport vehicle. The assembly comprises a shell having opposite ends. An auger is mounted to the shell and conveys grain toward one end of the shell. A hopper tube has an auger contained therein. An attachment housing is at one end of the shell and connects the hopper tube to the shell so that the hopper tube auger operatively communicates with the auger whereby grain at the one end of the shell is received and conveyed by the hopper tube auger.

  • Patent number: 4958720
Abstract: Readily attachable and detachable apparatus for coupling the drive shaft of a modular plastic screw conveyor with a power source is substantially concealed and protected by the modular plastic screw conveyor. Plastic screw conveyor modules define a non-circular axial aperture suitable for sliding over a matching or cooperating non-circular full length drive shaft. The drive shaft itself also includes an axial non-circular cross-section recess at one end for receiving a cooperating journal plug. The journal plug is retained in the drive shaft by a resilient axial force such as provided by a spring under tension, and such that rotation of the journal plug causes rotation of the drive shaft which in turn causes rotation of the plastic screw conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4826361
Abstract: A device for the transportation of flowable material in pulverulent, granular, lump, granulated or pasty form in a feed pipe comprises a coaxial endless feeder screw which is rotatable in the forward or reverse direction and a drive mechanism for driving said screw. The drive mechanism enables one to obtain a feed motion without rotation and a rearward motion with a forced, regular rotation of the endless screw so that the material to be transported remains axially stationary during the rearward motion. Owing to the dense column of material to be transported the bearings may be suppressed; if they are provided, they will have to be arranged outside the conveying stock. The endless screw is designed as a single piece screw and the distance between the screw and the feed pipe is slightly bigger than the average size of the grains or lumps of material to be conveyed. The device is preferably used for the supply of pneumatic or hydraulic conveyors.

  • Patent number: 4078653
Abstract: A rotary piston conveyor comprising a plurality of interengaged rotors in which at least one rotor is driven and, in turn, drives the other rotors. Each pair of adjacent rotors have spiral vanes which mesh to form the conveyor path as the rotors rotate. The degree of interengagement of the flanks or edges of the meshed vanes determine the efficiency of the conveyor path formed by the meshed vanes for any particular material or groups of material. Hence the rotors are adjustable to vary the interengagement of the vanes. The clearance between vanes in a direction parallel to the shaft determines the size or cross-section of the conveyor path. Hence, the rotors are longitudinally adjustable with respect to each other to vary the clearance. The adjustment device includes a split gear on the driven rotor and means for making each of the two adjustments as well as markings or indicia which may be read against a marker to show the degree of adjustment.
