The system also includes a carton opening system positioned at a first station along the conveyer system, a pack stamping system positioned at a second station along the conveyer system, and a carton closing system positioned at a third station along the conveyor system; wherein the spring arms bias the cartons against the ceiling plate to position the packs at a predetermined distance form the carton opening system, pack stamping system and carton closing system. A method for applying a stamp to packs within a carton includes biasing the carton along a conveyor system, and positioning the packs within the carton at a predetermined location from operation stations based on the biasing.

  • Patent number: 7464451
Abstract: A combination book binding machine with a plastic coil forming machine, whereby a plastic spiral coil is formed at a first raised temperature, then cut to a length sufficient for the plastic spiral coil to bind a book, cooled and then advanced toward a receiving coil conveyor of a coil binding machine, for binding the book with a plastic coil at the lowered cooled temperature. The binding machine and method for spirally binding a sheaf of papers into a book uses an adjustable speed drive to rotate the cooled flexible plastic spiral coil into respective holes in the book. The book has a plurality of holes in a row adjacent one edge of the book to receive the leading edge of the plastic spiral binding coils. A cylindrically shaped mandrel is spaced apart from a glidable block. The plastic pre-formed spiral binding coil is fed onto the mandrel from the distal end thereof, with the leading edge of the binding element facing and spaced apart from the book.

  • Patent number: 7407052
Abstract: A stabilized and guided conveyor belt (202) includes multiple transport chains (108) and interchangeable conveyor plates (100) that form the surface of the conveyor belt (202). The conveyor plates (100) can be easily attached independently of one another in a side by side fashion onto the transport chains (108) and are readily detachable from the transport chains (108) to facilitate replacement or rearrangement. Certain of the plates (100) function selectively as a platform on which to mount accessories such as lug members (136) and include means for receiving (134) accessories and for locking (138) accessories into place. The conveyor belt (202) is guided and supported by a smooth rail (420). Both the plate (100) and the rail (420) include interacting stabilizing features (130, 132, 424a, 424b) that cooperate to prevent buckling and rippling of the transport chain (108).

Abstract: The grain and fertiliser conveyor (10) of the present invention transports particulate material quickly and efficiently whilst minimising damage to the material (75) being transported. The conveyor includes an elongated housing (14) which houses a conveyor belt (16) adapted to receive material through a catchment hopper at a lower end of the housing and transport the material to the upper end of the housing for discharge therefrom. The conveyor belt (16) is both cleated (66) and bordered (68, 70) which allows for larger volumes of material to be conveyed without contacting the side walls of the housing (14) and hence minimising damage to the material. Further, the conveyor (10) includes a non-complex mechanism for tensioning and de-tensioning the belt (16).

Abstract: An elevating belt conveyor and a method for conveying articles up steep inclines. The conveyor has a series of support elements extending outward from the article-conveying surface of a conveyor belt advancing upward along a steep incline. The support elements prevent conveyed articles from sliding down the conveyor belt on the incline. A closely positioned hugger belt facing the article-conveying surface of the conveyor belt advances in the same direction to provide a low-friction retention surface to articles leaning away for the conveyor belt on the incline. In another variation, the support elements may be positioned on the hugger belt rather than on the main conveyor belt, with the main conveyor belt restraining articles against falling from the conveyor on an incline. Alternatively, a vertical array of rollers replaces the hugger belt as a low-friction retaining surface.

  • Patent number: 6811022
Abstract: A system for lineally transporting logs, lugs therefor, and an associated method are provided. The system includes first and second tracks that are machined and connected to a frame to provide continuous track surfaces. The first track, which is formed of portions that are keyed to the frame, defines a nonlinear cross section. Lugs having support surfaces that correspond to the track surfaces are configured to be driven longitudinally along the tracks, and the non-linear contour of the first track prevents the lugs from moving transversely. The track portions are machined to define track surfaces, and the first track portions are keyed to the frame so that the first track portions are substantially collinear and the first track surface is uniform and continuous in the longitudinal direction of the track, thereby reducing transverse motion of the log during transport.
