  • Patent number: 6581751
Abstract: Apparatus for indexing glassware through a series of angularly spaced stations includes first and second arrays of glassware gripping fingers mounted on associated carriers that are rotatable about a common axis, both conjointly and with respect to each other. Each carrier is connected to as associated servo motor, which in turn are connected to a controller for rotating the carriers with respect to each other to grip and release glassware between the fingers, and to rotate the carriers conjointly to index the glassware between apparatus stations. One array of glassware gripping fingers includes coil springs for biasing the fingers toward the fingers of the opposing array for accommodating tolerance variations in the glassware. Drive rollers are located at at least some of the stations, and are pivotal into and out of positions for rotating the containers about their axes for inspection or other purposes.

  • Patent number: 6557695
Abstract: An apparatus for inspecting non-round containers includes a pair of carriages coupled to associated motors for rotation independently of each other on a common axis. Each carriage carries a corresponding plurality of semi-circular gripping fingers, which may be moved toward and away from each other by controlled rotation of the carriages. The fingers are widely separated from each other to accept non-round containers at an in-feed station, and to permit removal of the containers at out-feed and reject stations. For transporting the containers between stations, the finger are brought closely together to grip the containers for indexing, and springs on one of the carriages resiliently urge the associated fingers toward the fingers on the opposing carriage for accommodating size variations among the containers.

  • Patent number: 6550601
Abstract: In order to monitor the adjustment state of the entrainers (1), which are arranged in each case in pairs transverse to the feed direction (4), of a feed chain (2), it is proposed to arrange an adjusting station along the guide of the feed chain (2) and to arrange a measuring station at a spaced interval therefrom. The adjusting station serves to adjust manually the entrainers (1) in a common adjusting plane extending perpendicular to the feed direction (4), whereas the measuring station is arranged to detect the adjustment position of the two entrainers (1) in a measuring plane likewise perpendicular to the feed direction (4) and, in accordance with a tolerance field which can be defined by the user, to generate an error signal which at the same time renders it possible to identify maladjusted entrainers (1).

  • Patent number: 6533126
Abstract: A produce sizing transport mechanism includes an endless conveyor carrying a plurality of downwardly depending produce retaining members which define an elongated produce retaining zone below at least one portion of the endless conveyor. At least part of the produce retaining members may be movable between a first closed position in which produce is retained within the elongated produce retaining zone and a plurality of further open positions enabling produce of predetermined sizes or size ranges to be released from the produce retaining zone. The retaining members may include a produce support region located generally beneath the produce retaining zone when the produce retaining members are located in the first closed position.

  • Patent number: 6382401
Abstract: A conveyor apparatus includes first and second groups of fins which are spaced along the conveying direction to provide spaces sufficient to hold packs therein. The fins in each group are divided into first and second sets. The first and second fin groups are mounted to first and second conveyor chain pairs, respectively, and moved through pack loading and unloading stations. Stepping motors drive the first and second chain pairs independently. A controller causes a fin set after being loaded or unloaded to be forwarded to the unloading or loading station at a speed higher than the speed at which the fin sets move through the loading station.

  • Patent number: 6374997
Abstract: A conveyor system has a bucket with a pivoting side wall. The pivoting movement of the leading side wall is actuated by a cam follower which engage; a cam rail. As the bucket passes through a carton loading station, the cam rail moves the cam follower to adjust the rotational position of the side wall. This pivoting movement will push back the leading side flap of a carton, thus making the loading of the carton easier. For different sized cartons, the transverse position of the cam rail can be adjusted thus altering the relevant rotational movement of the pivoting side wall.

Abstract: An adjusting unit for an article carrier is disclosed. The adjusting unit includes adjustable support elements for receiving articles of different sizes, in particular for supporting printed circuit boards of different sizes with a frame. One frame member of the frame may be used as a support for an article to be carried. At least one additional supporting element is provided which is adapted to be adjusted relative to a frame member. In addition, arresting means are provided with the aid of which the supporting element can be arrested relative to the frame member. The arresting means is adaptable to be releasably arrested on a guide means, along which the supporting element is displaceable. Accordingly, the adjusting unit comprises adjustment means for adapting the adjustable supporting element of the article carrier to the size of the printed circuit boards to be accommodated.

Abstract: A brush deburring machine includes upper and lower synchronized dogged conveyors that translate workpieces between a pair of cylindrical wire brushes to remove burrs from the ends of the workpieces. A first support surface is defined on each of the dogs of the upper conveyor, and a second support surface is defined on each of the dogs of the lower conveyor. Workpieces are retained between the first and second support surfaces to prevent the workpieces from becoming unstable and shifting diagonally between the wire brushes, yet are permitted to rotate with respect to the first and second support surfaces to cause the entire circumference of the ends of the workpieces to be deburred.

  • Patent number: 6182819
Abstract: An article carrier is disclosed having adjustable support elements for receiving articles of different sizes, in particular for supporting printed circuit boards of different sizes during transport through a reflow soldering system. The article carrier further comprises a frame, wherein especially one frame member of the frame is used as a support for an article to be carried, and at least one additional supporting element which is adapted to be adjusted relative to the frame member, wherein arresting elements are provided for arresting the support element relative to the frame member. One major aspect of the invention is the fact that the arresting elements are adapted to be releasably arrested on guide rods along which the supporting element is displaceable. Thus the article carrier may automatically be adapted to different sizes of printed circuit boards.
