Rotary Conveyor Without Specific Locations For Supporting Randomly Placed Articles Or Bulk Material Patents (Class 198/803.16)
  • Patent number: 9365364
Abstract: A method and system for accelerating an item with a rotating platform having a center point, a perimeter, and a radius from the center point to the perimeter. The method and apparatus deliver the item to a center area of the rotating platform by delivering the item to a first radial distance on the rotating platform, wherein the item has a first speed at the center area and tangential to the first radial distance. Also while the rotating platform is rotating, the item is advanced, in an apparatus-controlled orderly path, from the center area to a point relative to the rotating platform that is adjacent a perimeter of the rotating platform and that is located at a second radial distance greater than the first radial distance, wherein the item has a second speed tangential to the second radial distance and the second speed is greater than the first speed. Also while the rotating platform is rotating, the item is advanced, from the point, to a location beyond the perimeter of the rotating platform.

  • Publication number: 20040003984
Abstract: An apparatus for longitudinally orienting pre-glued elongated wood strands for forming OSB panels includes a spreading head with disc rolls that each have discs arranged parallel to one another on a rotatable shaft arranged over a forming belt. The discs of a given disc roll intermesh overlappingly in the interspaces between the discs of the adjacent disc rolls, to form vertical orienting passages between the intermeshing discs. The shaft or the individual discs of at least one of the disc rolls is/are slidably adjustable in the axial direction of the shaft, to adjust the axial width of the orienting passages. In a method of operating the apparatus, the width of the orienting passages is adjusted depending on the dimensions, the dimensional variation or tolerance, and/or the throughput quantity of the supplied strand material. Thereby, the throughput quantity and the longitudinal orienting of the strands can be optimized, depending on the particular strand material.

  • Publication number: 20030010605
Abstract: A rotary orienting feeder is configured for singulating/orienting bulk volumes of articles. The feeder includes a rotatably driven feed disc, and a rotatably driven orienting bowl assembly which is positioned generally about the feed disc. The feed disc is driven about an axis which angularly intersects an axis about which the bowl is driven, whereby during operation articles are transferred from the feed disc to an upper flange portion of the bowl assembly. An outer guide fence, which may be provided with suitable tooling, cooperates with the bowl and the articles carried thereby to effect singulation/orientation. Economical and versatile manufacture and operation are achieved by forming an outer bowl of the orienting bowl assembly of non-metallic material, such as polymeric resin. Reduced weight, reduced power consumption, quieter operation, and gentler part handling are desirably achieved.
