Abstract: A roller device mountable rotatably on a spindle includes a roller body having a tubular wall with two opposite open-end portions. Each open-end portion is provided with a retaining member formed on an inner peripheral surface of the tubular wall. Two covers are inserted respectively into the open-end portions of the tubular wall, and are adapted to be sleeved rotatably around the spindle. Each cover has an annular end wall transverse to the corresponding open-end portion, a surrounding wall extending inwardly and axially from an outer periphery of the end wall and abutting against the inner peripheral surface of the tubular wall, and an engaging member formed on an outer peripheral surface of the surrounding wall and interlocking the retaining member. The retaining and engaging members have recess-and-protrusion interlocking surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6044965
Abstract: A troughing idler of an enclosed belt conveyor has a horizontal shaft that is supported by antifriction bearings mounted outside of the side walls of the trunking and carries a medial roller. Each of the side walls of the trunking supports a downwardly and inwardly sloping side roller in cantilevered relation by means of a side roller carrier that is mounted on the side wall and includes a spindle, a hub, and inboard and outboard antifriction bearings interposed between the spindle and the hub. The medial roller and the side rollers are arranged relative to each other so as to support the belt with side portions sloping upwardly and outwardly with respect to a medial portion.

  • Patent number: 5027940
Abstract: Stub idler units for a flexible sidewall belt conveyors support the return belt run. Each unit includes a stub roll fixed to and forming an integral part of a solid shaft. A pair of re-lubricable, sealed bearings are mounted within opposite ends of a tubular bearing housing secured within a tubular mounting bracket. The shaft is journaled in the bearings clamped to the housing by a locking nut on the shaft end. A lubrication passageway is formed in the mounting bracket and housing and provided with a lubrication fitting. The passageway connects to the chamber between the bearings lubricating the bearings. A flexible hydraulic grease line is attached to the far side mounting bracket in place of the grease fitting. The grease line extends across the conveyor belt to the near side of the conveyor and terminates in a grease fitting for re-lubrication of the far side stub idler. The line is supported at the two mounting brackets by suitable shaped support elements mounted to the mounting brackets.

  • Patent number: 4903820
Abstract: A conveyor belt advances over an assembly of cylindrical idler rollers. Each idler roller includes a cylindrical body rotatable about an axially disposed tubular shaft. Air under pressure enters the proximal end of the tubular shaft and advances through the tubular shaft to be discharged through openings in the distal end of the tubular shaft. The air under pressure leaving the distal end of the tubular shaft advances through the space between the inner wall of the cylindrical body of the idler roller and the outer wall of the tubular shaft to be vented to atmosphere for reducing heat build-up in the idler roller.

  • Patent number: 4266662
Abstract: An idler trough roller assembly adapted to be mounted along a supporting frame to support the upper flight of a belt conveyor during movement of bulk material. Fixed angular supports are mounted on the frame. Each support has an outside cylindrical surface. The cylindrical surfaces of the individual supports are discontinued along a plane that forms an acute angle relative to the support axis. Individual rollers are fitted about each support. The rollers are each cup-shaped, with coaxial cylindrical inside and outside surfaces and an integral cap enclosing and completely covering the roller outer end. A radially projecting shoulder at the outer end of each support and an interfitting groove within each roller prevent axial movement of the assembled roller with respect to the support.
