Abstract: A polymer latex composition has an acrylonitrile component, a polychloroprene component, and a natural latex component. When these components are blended together and formed into a film, the film exhibits a resistance to ozone that is greater than a resistance to ozone of materials in which acrylonitrile is not included. Furthermore, the combination of acrylonitrile and chloroprene imparts a synergistic effect to the composition with regard to ozone resistance. The film can be formed into a glove having a resistance to ozone that is improved over the resistance to ozone of gloves not including acrylonitrile. The glove may include an antimicrobial agent.

Abstract: The present invention aims to provide anti-slip gloves which exhibit excellent anti-slipping effects under slippery conditions such as wet conditions caused by moisture, detergents or oils, provide an excellent durability in repeated use, keep down production costs, and can be used in various applications. The glove of the invention has an anti-slip layer comprising pulverized fragments of a foamed melamine resin, or a mixture of pulverized fragments of a foamed melamine resin and NBR particles contained in a resin or rubber formed on the surface thereof. The pulverized fragments of the foamed melamine resin are particulate subfragments obtained by pulverizing the foamed melamine resin. The foamed melamine resin has a three-dimensional lattice structure, and the pulverized fragments of the foamed melamine resin obtained by pulverizing the foam have cut limbs extending three dimensionally, which are obtained by cutting the lattice parts.

  • Patent number: 7176260
Abstract: The invention is the manipulation of the zinc oxide content and sulfur content of nitrile butadiene rubbers and selected vulcanization conditions that can be achieved economically with common production facilities. The manipulation of these components affects the relaxation property of gloves formed by this material. Produced are gloves that have a relaxation property, higher than 50%, and a low modulus (approximately 3 Mpa). The glove maintains decent ultimate tensile strength (>20 Mpa) and elongation (>500%). The glove is produced by a vulcanization process, which lasts from 5 to 60 minutes at temperatures ranging from 300° F. to 400° F. The tensile strength and elongation are well above the ASTM requirements for medical gloves. The current ASTM requirements are ASTM D412-92. Thanks to sufficient vulcanization, the films produced provide satisfactory protection from viral penetration. The tearing strength is also better because of the lower modulus.

The internal surface treating agent is used to obtain an acrylic resin glove having the above-described characteristics by forming a film of this treating agent on the internal surface of the acrylic resin glove, thereby to improve the lubricity of the internal surface of the glove.

Abstract: A polymer useful in forming coatings for articles is provided. The polymer is an acrylic copolymer formed as the reaction product of a plurality of monomers which include an alkyl (meth)acrylate, a quaternary amine (meth)acrylate, a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, an N-vinyl lactam, an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, and a fluorinated (meth)acrylate. The polymer is formed in the presence of surfactants, preferably by sequential polymerization of two separate monomer mixtures. To form a coating, the polymer is blended with an elastomeric material such as nitrile rubber latex. The resulting coating is useful both as a print coating for substrates used with ink jet printers and as a coating for rubber articles.

  • Patent number: 6451908
Abstract: A process for preparing a polyurethane film comprising two steps is disclosed. The first step comprises preparing a nonionic prepolymer formulation, the prepolymer formulation comprising a diisocyanate, an active hydrogen containing material, and a monol. The second step comprises preparing an aqueous dispersion of the prepolymer, in the presence of a surfactant. Both steps occur in the substantial absence of an organic solvent. Also disclosed is a polyurethane film and an aqueous dispersion useful for preparing such films. The present invention has the advantage of having increased shear stability. The dispersions of the present invention do not settle or coagulate prematurely. Moreover, the films of the present invention do not include the dermal irritants which occur in natural rubber latex. The films and dispersions of the present invention are thus suitable for use in applications such as, for example, medical applications.

  • Patent number: 6378137
Abstract: A powder free medical glove having an outer side a silicon treated surface and the inside of cross linked coagulated glove bonded with a layer formed of an anti-blocking composition. The anti-blocking composition comprises of a polymer or copolymer mixed together with a micronized high density polyethylene material and wax in suitable blends that result in the composition having anti-blocking and improved lubricity properties. The medical glove with the skin contacting anti-blocking coating enables donning of the glove to be effected without the aid of donning powder such as starch powder. When the finished glove is washed and rinsed with water to remove the coagulant powder, and the said glove treated with a silicon solution, a glove substantially free of loose powder glove is produced and has good lubricity for donning.
