Abstract: Provided is a protective insert to be received into a pocket of a protective athletic headwear. The protective insert includes a hard outer layer, at least one pliable middle layer, and a pliable inner layer. The hard outer layer includes an arrangement of first openings to enable flexing of the hard outer layer to decelerate an impact to the at least one protective insert. The at least one pliable middle layer includes at least one arrangement of second openings. The pliable inner layer provides cushioning. The hard outer layer, the at least one pliable middle layer, and the pliable inner layer are sealed such that the second openings form sealed air pockets to absorb and distribute the impact to the outer layer about the at least one protective insert.

The body has an opening and a crown, and is configured to fit a head of a person. The band extends from and about the opening of the body to the interior of the body and partially toward the crown. The band is free floating with respect to the body and configured to fit the head of the person. The band includes a plurality of pockets disposed about a base stitching that secures the band to the body. The protective inserts are configured to be received into the pockets to provide a protective function to the head of the person. The protective inserts are disposed adjacently to one another about the band and extend from the base stitching of the band to the crown of the body.

Abstract: Disclosed is a preemie warmth stocking cap comprised preferably of several components including in a multilayered construction two layers of a woven or knitted stretchable but resilient fabric, such as cotton, which forms an outer and inner layer between which is disposed a thin and flexible insulating plastic layer to minimize heat loss that is readily deformable, but not readily breakable and which includes an adhesive to achieve positional stability between the plastic layer and an adjoining fabric layer. A third optional component is comprised of a clamping structure comprised of an inert material used to close the top of tubular fabric about the top of the infant's head if the fabric layers are made with a tubular stockinette.
