Abstract: A pleated spray tan mask and method of donning is donned and attached around the face, so as to protect a user from inhaling undesired airborne particles or vapor while being spray tanned with tanning composition, and also to prevent tanning composition from coating the face. The mask comprises three panels that cover a portion of the face and perform independent functions for protecting against sprayed tanning compositions. The mask provides a forehead panel and a lower face panel that are pleated to increase in size for larger heads. Pleats allow the mask to be one-size-fits-all. Another unique feature of the forehead and lower face panels is that flaps form at the edges of the individual panels. Flaps fold inwardly and enhance airflow behind the panels. Further, a mid-face panel disposed between the forehead and lower face panels is at least partially transparent to enable visibility while being spray tanned.

Abstract: A head wrap is an apparatus that is used to protect and decorate a user's head. The apparatus includes a head-bracing body, an elastic strip, a first lateral tail, a second lateral tail, a first intermediate tail, a second intermediate tail, a plurality of ornaments, and a ventilation mechanism. The head-bracing body is the primary coverage means for the back of the user's head. The elastic strip connects to the head-bracing body to allow the head-bracing body to expand in order to fit different head sizes. The first lateral tail, second lateral tail, first intermediate tail, and second intermediate tail each connect to the head-bracing body, allowing for coverage of the user's head. The at least one ornament relates to a decorative unit or several units capable of being tied to the first lateral tail, second lateral tail, first intermediate tail, and second intermediate tail as a means of displaying the decorative pattern.

Abstract: A cap includes a crown portion being generally hemispherical in shape and having a hollow interior such that the crown portion defines an interior surface and an exterior surface and the crown portion further includes an apex and a generally circular base. A securement mechanism includes a first and a second elongate flexible strand where each of the flexible strands have a first, a second end, and a mid portion. A bead defines a pair of openings there through where a first end of the first flexible strand extends through a first one of the pair of openings and a first end of the second flexible strand extends through a second one of the pair of openings. The cap retains the second end of each of the flexible strands on opposing sides of the cap.

Abstract: A garment is provided, having a hood for covering a head while exposing a face of a hooded user through a front periphery. The hood includes a collar portion which is circumferentially extending and is capable of wrapping about a neck of a user. The collar portion includes a neck periphery, which is circumferentially extending about a portion of the collar portion and is where the hood terminates, the neck periphery being capable of laying proximate to a nape of a user's neck. The collar portion includes a first circumferential end and an opposing second circumferential end. Extending downwardly from the first end of the neck periphery is a first panel and extending downwardly from the second end of the neck periphery is a second panel. The first and second panels are long and soft enough to lay on a torso and be selectively maneuvered about a user's face.

Abstract: An article of headwear is made of stretchable porous fabric and is configured to fit snugly over a woman's head to conceal hair loss or baldness of the user. A gathering band is stitched inside the headwear along the back portion in the area of the natural hairline to create an illusion of fullness by the folds of the fabric. A neck ruffle is created below the inner band to cover the natural hairline. An outer band is attached at two points to the outer surface to fit outside of the area where the inner band is located. The outer band has longitudinal dimensions at least slightly greater than the stretchable inner band.

Abstract: A secure-fitting and absorbent elongated hood for containing, managing, and drying wet hair and preventing water from dripping onto flooring or onto the wearer's clothing during the hair drying or hair setting process, requiring no leaning forward of the head for application. Such elongated hood generally comprises an absorbent concave form-fitting cap having a centering button located thereon, a triangular wing of fabric extending from each of the left and right sides of said form-fitting cap of said elongated hood, reciprocal hook-and-loop fabric strips sewn onto each left and right triangular wing, an elongated tail region being progressively tapered from said concave form-fitting cap to a rounded and concave distal end and having an elastic loop for fastening purposes, and concave petal-shaped protuberances of absorbent fabric at such concave distal end for catching, retaining, and absorbing water dripping from the wearer's hair.

Abstract: A head scarf with a crown portion and a tail portion is made by stitching together overlying front margin areas of body and lining pieces. This stitching is done along oppositely convex lines on both pieces, and these lines are brought into registry for sewing. One of the pieces is then folded to provide a convex edge of the stitched-together assembly, to place the pieces in face-to-face relation, and to give the assembly a three dimensional forehead-receiving shape in the vicinity of the front margin areas. A semicircular drawstring channel is formed, and the upper regions of the tail portion are drawn together while drawing the crown portion into a shape conforming to a wearer's head.

Abstract: A hair retaining headwear system for efficiently covering a user's head and retaining their ponytail outside of the headwear. The hair retaining headwear system generally includes a body adapted to be worn over a head of a user, wherein the body includes a forward end adapted to extend around a forehead and a rearward end opposite the forward end. A retaining element extends from the rearward end, wherein the retaining element includes a receiver opening to receive and retain hair extending from underneath the body away from the body.

Abstract: A compact protective hood comprising a pre-molded, substantially non-elastic crown having at least one preformed fold line whereby the package size of the hood is reduced by folding the hood along the at least one preformed fold line.

Abstract: A head gear device comprising a hood, a yoke, and an elongated retention member. The hood having an interior surface and a lower radius can be worn on a user's head. The yoke has an upper radius, which extends from the lower radius of the hood such that the yoke can rest at least in part on the user's shoulder. The elongated retention member has a substantially flat plane, at least a portion of which is substantially parallel to the lower radius of the hood. At least a portion of the flat plane is flush with the interior surface of the hood. The retention member is capable of bending in and out of the flat plane to permit the hood to be folded down from a user's head while permitting the head gear device to be worn about a user's neck.

Abstract: A head covering bonnet with an opening for the head and an elastic spandex band below the opening for holding the bonnet to the head. The spandex band is of a width so as not to apply high localized pressure on the hair, and spandex is not rough or abrasive when stretched, unlike typical elastic material which becomes rough and possibly abrasive to hair when the elastic is stretched.

Abstract: A head scarf has a main body and a lining that are made of flat planar flaccid fabric. It has a crown for covering a wearer's head and a tail that hangs down from the rear of the crown. The lining has front and rear margin areas attached along their lengths to the main body. The end points of the front margin area of the lining are flush with the end points of the crown portion of the main body. The lining has its greatest length, measured longitudinally, in a central longitudinal plane of the scarf. The length of the lining fabric measured between the front and rear margin areas is greater, by differential amounts that decrease progressively toward the end points, than the linear distance between the front and rear margin areas to enhance the ability of the scarf to conform to the shape of a wearer's head.

A lens or goggle portion, which is integrated into and attached to an opening in the outerband, is positioned over the wearer's eyes when the outerband is in its second, lower position.

Abstract: A head covering is described that is positioned on a head of a wearer to retain the wearer's hair in a desired position. The head covering comprises a hooded cap and an extension. The hooded cap includes a pair of ties and a set of straps. The hooded cap is secured to the head of the wearer using ties. The extension connects to the hooded cap on one end and includes an opposing distal end portion with a free terminal end. The extension includes a pouch and a flap. The pouch defines a first aperture in proximity to the hooded cap and a second aperture in proximity to the flap. A passageway is defined between the first aperture, the extension and the second aperture. The flap and pouch include connectors for the optional connection of the flap and pouch to secure the second aperture in a closed position. At least one strap is connected to the extension. The straps are constructed to secure the extension and hair together.

The straps extend laterally off the front such that upon pulling on or tying the tie straps, the head covering is tightened down on the head, and the V-shape of the flap draws the head covering down.

Abstract: The adjustable bandana is adapted for covering a body part and includes a fabric sheet having an upper surface and a lower surface, with an absorbent layer being secured to the lower surface. The absorbent layer absorbs perspiration when the adjustable bandana covers a body part of the user. The adjustable bandana includes a pair of first fasteners secured to the upper surface for adjustably and releasably engaging a second fastener secured to the upper surface, allowing the user to adjustably and releasably secure the adjustable bandana to the selected body part. Further, the user may selectively display emblems secured to the fabric sheet when the adjustable bandana is worn by the user.

Abstract: A cap device for providing warmth to the head of a person including an outer cap having a water impervious outer surface and sized to fit over the hair of a person, a liner located inside the outer cap, the liner being sized to contact the hair of a person, and a heat source including a crystalline compound capable of exothermic reaction with water. The preferred heat source is calcined calcium oxide and a powdered zeolite in a ratio of from about 14 to 20 for calcium oxide and from about 7 to 10 for powdered zeolite.

Abstract: My invention the Locks Down is a head covering consisting of: a hooded portion that sits on top of the wearers head, a back portion containing a pocket/passageway for the hair/braids to pass through, middle and bottom straps positioned on the back portion of the invention to hold the hair/braids in place. The method of application of this invention is as such: the wearer puts their hand through the passageway grabbing their hair and pulling it through the passageway. Then the hooded portion is pulled towards the top of the wearers head and positioned on top of head. Next the straps on the hooded portion are tied behind the wearers head securing the invention in place. Then the middle and bottom straps are snapped beneath the pocketed portion of the invention, between the back of the wearers neck and the invention keeping the hair/braids secure. The invention can be made from many different materials, such as cotton, leather, terry cloth and water resistant fabrics.

A removable attachment mechanism removably attaches the peripheries of the panels in a manner such that the panels and the attachment mechanism together define an interior storage space when the attachment mechanism attaches the peripheries of the panels, and the panels can be worn as a body vest with the shoulder straps supported on an adult human being's shoulders when the attachment mechanism does not attach the peripheries of the panels. A weapon can be stored inside the interior storage space.

Abstract: The modified head covering has a cap portion that resembles typical head caps, as well as a pouch portion attached to the rear of the cap. This head covering allows a user having long hair to safely conceal his or her hair within the pouch portion at the rear of the head covering. The pouch portion can be cinched tightly into a “sack” or “pouch” shape through the use of a ribbon, an elastic band, or other devices. Once the pouch portion is constricted, the hair is safely concealed and kept off of the nape of the neck. The head covering can be made of a variety of fabrics with a number of patterns or colors. The modified head covering is particularly suited to medical personnel working in sterile environments, but it is useful for anyone with long hair who must conceal his or her hair inside a cap.

Abstract: The invention generally relates to articles which may be used as headwear for infants that address issues related to flat head syndrome. In a first aspect, an article of headwear for an infant is provided. The headwear is configured to reduce pressure at the rear portion of the head when the infant is lying or reclining in the supine position. The headwear generally includes a head receiving portion having at least a top region and rear region for covering at least the top and rear portions of the head of the infant. In accordance with the invention, the headwear also includes support cushion positioned in the rear region of the head receiving portion. The support cushion is configured to support at least the rear portion of the head of the infant and to at least partially surround a pressure relief region.

Abstract: An enhanced mask system including a mask portion, for covering the nose, mouth and lower face of a wearer. The mask portion has an inner surface for being closer to the wearer and an outer surface for being further from the wearer. A head covering or balaclava is secured to the mask portion and a pocket secured to the inner surface of the mask portion removably contains the head covering or balaclava when in its secured position. The mask can be worn by the wearer either with the head covering or balaclava on the wearer's head in a deployed position or without the head covering or balaclava on the wearer's head and stowed in the pocket in the secured position.

Abstract: Disclosed is a preemie warmth stocking cap comprised preferably of several components including in a multilayered construction two layers of a woven or knitted stretchable but resilient fabric, such as cotton, which forms an outer and inner layer between which is disposed a thin and flexible insulating plastic layer to minimize heat loss that is readily deformable, but not readily breakable and which includes an adhesive to achieve positional stability between the plastic layer and an adjoining fabric layer. A third optional component is comprised of a clamping structure comprised of an inert material used to close the top of tubular fabric about the top of the infant's head if the fabric layers are made with a tubular stockinette.

Abstract: A liner for a shower cap has a chamber or ampoule containing a predetermined quantity of a supercooled liquid exotherm compound and a small amount of the compound in the crystal form, such that the crystal and the liquid are separated until time for use. Upon action by the user, such as by bending or otherwise breaking the separation between the crystal and the liquid, an exothermic reaction takes place as the liquid crystallizes, releasing a known amount of heat to cause the towel to warm. Calcium carbonate is the preferred compound. A temperature indicator may also be included as part of the packaging. A hair cleaning compound is provided, such as a shampoo, hair conditioner, hair moisturizer, scalp conditioning agents or mixtures.

The inner side (3) of the middle section (7) contains a pocket (10) near the bottom (9) for holding thermal matter (15), such as frozen liquid or heat pads. An optional semi-circular headband (5) on the inner side (3) of the middle section (7) above the pocket (10) may assist in placing and holding the headwear to a forehead on a person. An optional visor (11) extending from the top portion (8) of the headwear is also provided. The end sections may serve as handles to be held by the hands. Various other fastening means (13a, 13b, 14a, 14b, 18a, 18b, 19a, 19b) have been provided for securing the headwear to the head of a wearer. The outside (2) of the headwear may also serve as a medium for advertising (6).

Abstract: A head wrap for keeping a hairstyle of a user in place while sleeping. The wrap includes a forehead-covering portion and a back of the head-covering portion. The forehead-covering portion has a forehead comfort strip that extends therealong. The back of the head-covering portion includes a pair of head-covering portions that are generally triangular-shaped and flare rearwardly from the forehead-covering portion to bases that are free and overlap each other vertically along the middle of the back of the head of the user. Abstract: The present invention is a hood with faceguard and visor for protecting a user from cold or inclement weather. It comprises a hood with a drawstring and to which a protective facecover is attached. The faceguard is attached to a lower portion of the hood in a tubular fashion. In use, the faceguard is pulled up through the lower portion of the hood which then obverts or turns the faceguard and lower portion "outside in". This places the faceguard in proper alignment for use on a users face within the hood, affording maximum protection for a user from the weather.An alternate embodiment of the invention comprises a faceguard integrally connected to the hood or cover in a position to align with a user's face upon being donned by a user. In the alternate embodiment, a drawstring is contained within a channel. The channel forms an arc described by a path beginning at a first side of the faceguard, arcing up to a zenith of the hood, and descending to the second side of the faceguard.

Abstract: A head covering device including a hood portion and a detachable cover for covering the head, neck and upper back from the sun. The hood portion is formed of an absorbent inner layer of material and a porous outer layer of material which together function to shade the wearer, conserve body water, and allow for cooling the wearer by evaporation of perspiration. Fasteners are provided for removably attaching the cover to the hood portion. A channel is provided which extends through a crown portion of the hood and receives a cord whose ends are adjustably connectable for securing the hood portion onto the wearer's head. Another channel provided along a lower edge of the hood portion receives a cord whose ends are adjustably connectable for gathering the hood portion about the neck of the wearer.

A first portion of the flexible material member is formed between the first corner and the second corner and is inclusive of the first and second corner. A first fastener is used to secure the first corner in close proximity to the second corner. A second fastener is used to secure the third corner to the first portion. In another embodiment disclosed, a first fastener is used to connect the first corner to the third corner and a second fastener is used to connect the second corner to the third corner. In still another embodiment disclosed, an elastic material is incorporated in the first portion of the flexible material member.

Abstract: A head of a wearer is covered by a hood to protect the head from rain or snow. The hood comprises a hood body formed of an outer sheet and an inner sheet bonded together to form a space therebetween. When air is inflated into the space, the hood body enlarges to form a solid shape over the entire hood body. An edge portion is formed around a front opening of the hood body. The edge portion, in use, expands outwardly to allow water on the hood body to flow along the edge portion without crossing the front opening. At least one air passage device is attached to the hood body to allow air blown into the hood to pass or escape therethrough. When the air passage devices are formed near ears of the wearer, the air passage devices help audibility.

Abstract: An article of headwear to protect eyes, ears, neck and shoulders of wearer from the sun's harmful rays during outdoor activities. This protective headwear consists of a semi-rigid visor portion, a kerchief portion and a ribbon portion. The visor is substantially crescent shaped, and the kerchief portion is substantially rectangular. The visor portion is attached to one of the short edges of the rectangular kerchief portion along its concave back edge. The ribbon portion is attached to the concave edge of the visor portion and to the said short edge of the rectangular kerchief portion. The ribbon is of sufficient length to allow the wearer to knot its ends behind ones head. The visor and kerchief portions are attached substantially in the middle region of said ribbon. The article, when dampened can provide evaporative cooling for the wearer in warm conditions, and when worn dry can retain warmth for the wearer in cold conditions.

Abstract: A face and neck shield to be worn under a hood type dryer, involving a wide, annularly shaped band snugly fitting the head of the wearer substantially at the hair line of the wearer and deflecting most of the air exhausted from the dryer forwardly and away from the face and neck of the wearer while nevertheless providing substantial closure of the exhaust face of the hair dryer, the wide band of the shield being held in place by adjustable interconnection means in the rear portion thereof and by over-the-head band support strap means one of which runs from front-to-rear of the band, with diverging over-the-head strap means connected to the front-to-rear strap and diverging to points of attachment at the outboard edge of the band, substantially radially outwardly of the temples of the wearer, to provide positive band support thereat, the front-to-rear strap being frontally connected to the inboard edge of the band so that the front of the band over the face of the wearer, droops slightly in visor-like fashion

Abstract: A cap for wear by women to conceal a partial or total hair loss. It comprises a main fabric piece with a curved top margin and a straight bottom margin with hems along both margins. A hairpiece retainer band consisting of a fabric strip is sewn at its opposite ends along the inside of the bottom hem and provides between itself and the bottom hem a space to retain a hairpiece simulating bangs. An elastic drawstring is provided in the top hem to gather the curved top margin into a tight loop creating many large folds in the top and back of the cap when worn to conceal the back of the head and give the appearance of a full head of hair while applying tension to the bottom margin and retainer band to hold the hairpiece in place in a readily adjustable manner. In one embodiment, both the main fabric piece and the retainer band are elastically stretchable only in a direction parallel to the bottom hem.

Abstract: Protective headgear for infants and young children comprises a head-enveloping member having the appearance of a conventional hat, but constructed of a core of impact absorbent foam, encapsulated within a shell of textile fabric material, the textile fabric material providing the inner and outer surfaces of the garment.

Abstract: A head scarf construction embodying the cooperation of a ply of fabric in a triangulated shape and a stiffened triangulated component connected in positions to bring the base margins of the triangles into alignment, the addition of surface decorations for the triangulated shapes to develop simulations of birds or animals, and tie elements for securing the scarf to the wearer's head.
