Abstract: A bib and corresponding mounting clip are disclosed. A bib body may include one or more of an upper reinforcement member, a plurality of body reinforcement members, and a plurality of pocket reinforcement members. The upper reinforcement facilitates having the bib body be suspended from the mounting clip at a single location or region. The plurality of body reinforcement members allows the bib body to be shaped to “funnel” food particles and the like, for instance into a pocket incorporated by the bib body. The plurality of pocket reinforcement members may be used to retain such a pocket in an open configuration.
Abstract: Apparatus for magnetically holding a shirt collar in a position and orientation on a shirt front, includes a collar stay attachable to a collar via adhesive or the like, or receivable in a pocket of the collar. The collar stay includes at least one magnet, or element of a magnetized material or a material attractable by a magnet. A magnet is positionable against an inside surface of the shirt front opposite the collar and is magnetically attachable to the collar stay through the shirt front, for holding the collar in a desired position and orientation. The stay can be a laminate or composite, and can be bendable or foldable into a desired shape.
Abstract: An athletic garment including a panel designed to reduce frictional and pressure drag around an appendage of an athlete competing in a high-speed event, such as running and cycling. The panel is positioned to encircle the appendage, and is provided with regions having different surface texture roughnesses. The leading edge of the panel includes texture designed to enhance the laminar boundary layer, while the adjacent portion of the panel includes texture intended to trip the boundary layer to turbulent flow. The drag-reducing panel may be the cuff of a sock, a sleeve, wristband, a headband, or the like.

Abstract: Self-healing electrical garments and self-healing electrical conductors and components for use in electrical garments are provided. A communication medium of various forms is integrated into a garment seam that is used to join two or more portions of a garment. The communication media can be used to provide electrical or other electromagnetic connection for coupling among a plurality of electrical devices associated with the garment. The self-healing electrical conductor may be used as part of a garment portion or may be used as a joining fiber in a variety of techniques to join garment portions together. The self-healing electrical conductor comprises an electrical conductor, a conductive polymer immediately surrounding or adjacent to the electrical conductor, an insulator enclosing the electrical conductor and the conductive polymer.

Abstract: A fabric for use with a system for monitoring prescribed body functions comprising an elastic fabric, adapted to be carried by a torso, which is stretchable in its longitudinal direction so as to expand and contract in response to body movement and size. The carrier includes at least one conductive and inelastic yarn arranged longitudinally of and located between upper and lower surfaces. The conductive yarn is arranged in sinusoidal configurations longitudinally of the fabric. The conductive yarn breaks through one of the outer surfaces at a selected breakout along the length of the fabric. The conductive yarn is cut to present at least one exposed end above the one outer surface. A monitoring unit, which includes a connector and a sensor, is secured with the one outer surface of the fabric at the breakout with the connector being united with the at least one exposed end of the conductive yarn.

Abstract: A flexible mesh of interwoven metal rings for production of protective clothing is provided with one or more recesses in which an oblong stiffening element is arranged, which latter consists of a metal strap made from a spring material and is provided with holes at least along its edge, which holes are engaged by rings of the mesh that are located along the edge of the at least one recess.
Abstract: An underwire including an arcuate member for use with supporting garments, such as brassieres, has one or more zones of increased lateral flexibility along the longitudinal axis of the arcuate member in order to provide greater comfort to the individual wearer, without substantially affecting the arcuate rigidity that provides support. The increased flexibility is provided to the zones of increased flexibility by reducing the cross-sectional area of one or more end portions by tapering one or more sides, by sequentially and progressively stamping increasing numbers of incremental portions of the end portion in a stamping apparatus, to taper one or two opposed surfaces of the arcuate member. Alternatively a single step stamping method can be utilized to provide the flexible end portion.
Abstract: There is provided an article of headwear to be worn over the head and ears of the individual encircling around the circumference of the individual's neck, and extending down a portion of the individual's chest. The article is formed by connecting two, generally double layered strips of fabric. The upper portion gradually increases in diameter to below the ears, with the diameter being thickest at the spaced points of attachment to the lower portion creating a central opening at the back of the individual's head. The lower portion gradually decreases on both ends and is used to secure the device through a passage way or a wrap method. The article provides protection and warmth to the covered areas and fulfills the function of a headband, ear warmer and scarf with one device.
Abstract: A narrow profile soft tip is provided for an underwire arcuate member intended to be fitted into a sleeve. The arcuate member has a first width at a shoulder position thereof and the tip has a tip width at a lower surface thereof substantially equal to the first width of the arcuate member, such that the arcuate member and the tip as mounted on the arcuate member with the lower surface adjacent the shoulder position present a smooth profile at the shoulder position.
Abstract: An underwire for an underwire brassier has a metal wire bow provided at one end with a stitching flange and preferably formed at the other end with an elastomeric tip. A double-cup frame for the underwire brassiere has an inverted U-shaped bridge piece whose shanks receive the ends of plastic coated underwires. The shanks are connected unitarily by a bight which is flattened and can be grooved to increase flexibility. Upon twisting of the bight, the two underwires can be superposed, thereby increasing the flexibility of the frame and a brassiere in which the frame is incorporated.

Abstract: A cushion tip for a brassiere frame is molded in-situ about an end of the brassiere frame that has been reduced in transverse cross-section at its end, whereby the cushion tip provides a continuation of the outer surfaces of the brassiere frame in at least the dimension of the thickness of the frame, and also, optionally, in the direction of the width of the frame.
Abstract: The foldable lap tray ?12! of the invention includes a flat web ?11! to cover the wearer's lap, a foldable bib ?13! attached to the lap tray, and a loop of spring material ?10! that holds the web taut when the spring is fully extended. The bib is reversibly connected to the user's neck by a circular strap ?16! or other well known means of attachment, preferably with a slidable closure element ?17!. The lap tray is foldable by collapsing the spring into an odd-numbered series of smaller connected loops. In one embodiment, the lap tray has one side that is relatively concave ?18! so that the tray accommodates the contour of the user's body when placed on the lap.
