And Wide-angle Lens Patents (Class 2/430)
  • Patent number: 5138723
Abstract: A goggle including a unitary lens mountable about the head of a user is shown. A lens of the goggle is mounted in a frame. The lens has no nose opening and projects from near the forehead to the tip of the nose of the user. The frame of the goggle has a lower half which projects forwardly and has a nose opening in a horizontal plane to fit about the nose. • Patent number: 4856120
Abstract: A dive mask of the purge valve-type that comprises a deflector affixed to the lower front surface thereof for channeling air bubbles expelled during purging to the sides of the mask to avoid interference with the diver's vision. A plurality of vertical and horizontal spacers are also provided to assure the availability of a free flow air channel between the deflector and the remaining structure of the mask. In the preferred embodiment disclosed herein, the deflector is ornamentally shaped to enhance the styling and physical appearance of the overall mask structure.

  • Patent number: 4468819
Abstract: Two identical eye pieces are interconnected by a flexible nose strap. Each eye piece is formed from a single piece of plastic material for improved strength and includes a frame and an outwardly domed transparent hood. The hood includes a central lens portion and a side portion which extends laterally from the lens portion to the outer end of the frame. The lens portion is formed by a flat outer surface and a curved inner surface to permit the focal length to remain unchanged whether the eye goggles are used under or above water. The frame is provided with a connecting member engaging the nose strap. The nose strap is formed with longitudinally spaced stops selectively engaging the connecting member. The longitudinal spacings between the stops on one side of the nose strap differ from those between the stops on the other side to obtain precision distance adjustment between the eye pieces.

  • Patent number: 4455688
Abstract: Welder's protective goggles particularly adapted for operators who must use corrective bifocal lenses in their work. The goggles comprise a generally tubular shaped member, having an open end contoured to fit snugly against the face about the eyes of the wearer. The axis of the open end of the tubular member is on approximately the same horizontal plane as the axes of the eyes of the wearer when looking straight ahead. The tubular member also has a closed viewing end which has at least one viewing aperture adapted to receive a safety lens. The axis of the closed viewing end intersects the axis of the open end at an angle from below it. The degree of the included angle formed by the intersecting axes is predetermined so that the tilt thus given to the closed viewing end in relation to the open end is such that the wearer of the goggles when using corrective bifocal lenses underneath them will have an unobstructed view when looking through either corrective section of the bifocal lenses.

  • Patent number: 4286340
Abstract: An eyepiece has an upper edge fittable into the upper portion of the eye socket to deter displacement by water force and a lower portion overlying and generally conforming to the cheekbone to absorb diving shock and to limit inward movement. A cushion seal wider than the upper edge and partially bonded to it cushions the eyepiece fit. A head strap lug projects upwardly and rearwardly from the eyepiece so that the head strap connected to it urges the eyepiece upper edge up under the upper portion of the eye socket. The transversely curved front lens is inclined forwardly and downwardly to promote forward visibility during swimming and the side lens is substantially flat to improve peripheral vision and is faired into the curved front lens.

  • Patent number: 4162542
Abstract: The improved eye protectors of the present invention comprise a pair of eye cups, and a transparent readily heat remoldable bridge releasably connected to the cups. The bridge can be shaped to fit nose bridges of various sizes and shapes, and can be regulated to adjust the spacing of the cups to accommodate various eye distances. The cups are generally hemispherical and either opaque or transparent and tinted to protect the eyes from both sun and wind. One form of eye cup is cut away on a lower portion to form a sun shade over the eye, or upon reversal, to form a mini eye protector. Another form of the protector is transparent, has a head strap for use by skiers, etc., as a form of goggles. The protectors are simple, inexpensive and durable, with a variety of novel characteristics and uses, providing various forms of eye shading and protection while allowing tanning through the nose bridge and the head strap. Metallic plating of the cups keeps the cups cool when used in the direct sun.
