Abstract: The described sport goggles have frames which fit closely about the temples and across the nose, and include enlarged viewing openings with relatively narrow members extending from the top and lower parts of the frame inwardly toward each other in the frame viewing openings. These frame members prevent a ball, racquet, hand or other items from contacting the eye or immediately adjacent parts of the head and face. In a further version where the game ball is relatively small, that part of the frame defining the viewing openings immediately adjacent the nose extends horizontally into the viewing opening, which further restricts the area of the viewing opening and yet does not interfere with the visibility of the player during participation in the sport. An adjustable nose-piece permits precise fitting of the goggles to the wearer's face.
Abstract: Safety spectacles (10) comprising a one piece flanged and curved front face piece (12) adapted to wrap around the forehead to the wearers temples. The face piece (12) is provided with a nose piece (14), a substantially distortion free spherical viewing and eye shield front wall portion (16) of varying thickness, an upper protective flange (18) and opposite side portions (20) with upper and lower flange portions (22) (24) including pivot pin receiving apertures therein pivotally hinged to temple bars (30). Each temple bar is provided with upper and lower pivot pins (32) projecting outwardly from upper and lower extensions of flanges (36) (38) extending inwardly from a relatively wide forward portion of the side wall (40) with or without vents or louvers (L).
Abstract: Goggle-like apparatus includes horizontal eye openings with vertically elongated opening wall extensions in front of the eye. In one version, the frame parts are notched with the intervening portions facing toward each other. In another version, the inwardly directed portions of the frame are formed to extend outwardly and away from the face of the wearer. In a different aspect, the goggle frames are of an undulating construction and at least one rod-like (or wire-like) element extends vertically across the central area of view of the wearer, one for each eye, the ends of which are affixed in the opposite frames.
Abstract: A sport goggle is disclosed which includes a rectangular flexible frame normally disposed in planar relation and bendable to conform to a wearer's head on which the goggle may be secured by flexible straps secured to opposite ends of the frame. The frame supports a removable rectangular lens and has a face engaging cushion spaced from the lens by support pads which define air vents therebetween over which flexible air filters are mounted. The straps are adapted to be folded about and secured to the frame so as to protect the lens during non-use.
Abstract: A cartridge type safety goggle for welding is disclosed having an improved ventilation system. A cover plate, gasket, filter plate and retaining spring are held in a cartridge, which is adapted to be inserted into a goggle body. A plurality of ventilating holes on the top and bottom of both the goggle body and the cartridge combine with a plurality of tabs on the cartridge to provide an air flow path which provides improved ventilation for the inside surface of the filter plate and yet prevent objectionable light from entering the interior of the goggle.
