Abstract: A protective garment 10, such as a glove, arm guard or the like of wire 24 and fiber strands 26, 28, 30 and an elastomeric coating 16. The preferred garment is knitted from yarn 12 having a core 22 of one or more wire strands 24 and a fiber strand 26, and two wrappings of fiber strands 28, 30, preferably polyester. The knitted garment is coated, preferably by dipping in nitrile rubber, and the coating is cured in place. The garment is highly cut-resistant, nonabsorbent, highly slip-resistant, liquid in weight and flexible.

Abstract: The present invention relates to protective sheets used for wearing on clothes and keeping the clothes clean which have no problem such as slipping off, stripping up, falling down and so on without fixing them on bodies with strings, namely, protective sheets effectively used for aprons and napkins and practically relates to protective sheets which are the above described aprons and napkins consisting of electret sheets whose surface electric charge density is 1.times.10.sup.-10 coulomb/cm.sup.2 or more and weight per square meter is 10 g/m.sup.2 or more and 100 g/m.sup.2 or less.

Abstract: A baby feeding bib comprises an apron-like member made of flexible material, with sleeves openable along their length so as to be easily positioned around the baby's arms. Fastening material extending along the seams defining the opening along the sleeve length are detachably secured together so that the sleeves encircle the baby's arms. The resulting closed seam extending the sleeve length is preferably disposed out of the line of the baby's sight to prevent the baby from tampering with the closed seam.

Abstract: A protective garment for emergency personnel includes a body in the form of a surgical gown, an over-the-shoulder tab for extending behind the wearer's neck and holding the protective garment in place, attached latex gloves, and an attached face mask. The attached face mask includes goggles and a neck- and mouth-protector in the form of an extended surgical mask.

Abstract: An improved support belt for radiation shield garments has a padded, slip-resistant rear support element, one or more elasticized elements, one or more connecting elements, and adjustable fastening means for securing the ends of the belt to one another. The padded, slip-resistant rear support element comprises a relatively thin, flexible foam core that is covered with a foam-backed vinyl, the foam facing outwardly for frictionally engaging and supporting the radiation shield garment at the waist of a user.

Abstract: A protective garment for use by a person holding an infant comprising a back portion which is of waist length to permit the person to sit comfortably. The garment has a front portion of thigh length to protect the clothing of the person against being soiled by any spitting up of the infant. The two portions are joined along one vertical edge each so that the front portion can be wrapped around the front of the person. The front portion has a flap which goes over the opposite shoulder of the person and uses a Velcro type connection to hold it in place. Short puffy sleeves are employed at the ends of the shoulders to provide support for the head of the infant.

Abstract: A pair of straps project from opposite ends of a pouch for use in securing the pouch around a person's waist with an elongate opening in the pouch positioned above the person'seat. The opening is releasably closed by two separate (inner and outer) zippers. An elongate panel or sheet of flexible, waterproof material is secured at one end of one edge of the pouch opening to extend downwardly out of one (the outer) zipper into an operative position beneath one's seat, where it can be secured in place by two other straps which fasten around one's legs. At such time the other or inner zipper may be closed to retain personal items, (comb, sunblock lotion, etc.) in the pouch. When not in use the waterproof panel is rolled up and stored in the pouch.

Abstract: A neo-natal safety net for selective connection between a delivery table and an attending obstetrician, or between a delivery table and a neo-natal table, thereby providing a safety net for the space therebetween for catching a newborn infant in the event that the baby accidentally slips from the hands of the obstetrician after delivery, or from the hands of an attending nurse during the post-natal care of the baby.

Abstract: A disposable protective gown with a pair of integral neck tie straps. The gown is composed of a body portion which extends over the shoulders of the wearer and which has a pair of sleeves which extend outwardly from opposite sides. Each sleeve is attached to the body portion over an angle of attachment greater than 180.degree. and less than 300.degree.. A thumb loop is formed at the end of each of the sleeves and is shaped to engage the saddle of the thumb of a wearer. In forming the gown, after the body portion has been cut and the sleeves formed, the sleeves are attached to the body portion by heat sealing half the sleeve, then rotating the sleeve so that a second portion of the sleeve is attached to the gown, with the total angle of attachment not exceeding 300.degree.. A score is provided adjacent the head aperture in the gown to define the pair of tie straps which can be used to create a tighter or looser fit about a wearer's neck, as described.

Abstract: An apron-type garment for the u se of parents of infants in which many of the necessities for child care are kept close at hand. Specialized pockets conveniently located on a front panel of the garment provide for the storage of milk bottles, bibs, diapers, baby powder, and the like. Made of a thick, quilted fabric, the garment not only is gentle against the child's skin but also absorbs moisture and thereby protects the wearer's clothes against their being soiled while the wearer is attending to the needs of the child. The body of the garment includes, in addition to the front panel, two rear panels each of which is about one-half as long as the front panel. Contiguous portions of the front and rear panels form a pair of flared sections covering the wearer's shoulders and extending laterally therefrom.

Abstract: A shop apron is provided with two straps extending from the upper right and left corners, respectively, of the apron, and two grommets having holes of a predetermined diameter, with the grommets being secured in and to the right and left sides of the apron. Each one of the straps are then led over each shoulder, across the back, threaded through grommetes on the other side of the apron, then brought across the back and tied to a fastener tab having Velcro-type material on its surface. Then, the straps are tightened and the tabs simply pressed together to fasten straps across the back. The apron may be taken off by detaching the tabs from each other, and are easily put back on by bringing the left arm, right arm and head through the straps and then simply pressing the tabs together to fasten the straps across the back .

Abstract: A garment for use in a radioactive environment comprises a front portion, a rear portion, a shoulder portion used for suspending the garment over the body of a wearer, and an elasticized belt fixed to the garment at substantially waist or hip level. The belt is adapted to be stretched, tightened and secured around the waist or hips such that at least a part of the weight of the garment is substantially transferred to the waist or hips. The front portion of the garment has a lower flap adapted to lie against the front of the wearer and an upper flap for folding over the lower flap. The elasticized belt is secured releasably to the upper flap of the rear portion.

Abstract: There is disclosed a supplementary clothing article suitable for outdoor use to provide an insulated area between a user and a substrate surface, such as a cold surface. The article is adapted to be worn about a user's torso in a folded condition when not in use, and to be unfolded for use. The article is made up of a plurality of pad members each comprised of a layer of insulating material, namely a mat of heat insulating material provided with an outer covering of a textile material a flexible connection forming a fold area between the adjacent pad members and a pair of spaced-apart flexible strap means, one of the strap means being near the upper end of the upper pad member for encircling a wearer's torso at the waist and the other strap means being near the upper end of the lower pad member for encircling a wearer's torso at the waist when the article is in a folded form, or when the article is in use, to encircle the lower torso in the region of a user's legs.

Abstract: A lap robe for wheel chair or sitting patients is disclosed as including a waist section having detachable fastener elements attached thereto, and a lower body and leg wrapping section which is attached to the waist section. The lower body and leg wrapping section includes upper and lower portions, with the upper portion extending laterally outwardly from the lower portion, an opposite sides of the lower body and leg wrapping section. This enables the lap robe to be easily and conveniently placed about a patient, while the upper portion thereof generally conforms to the patient's lower body and thighs, when both in a standing and sitting position. The lower portion of the lower body and leg wrapping section covers the lower leg areas of the patient.

Abstract: A garment for use in a radioactive environment comprises a front portion, a rear portion, a shoulder portion used for suspending the garment over the body of a wearer, and an elasticized belt fixed to the garment at substantially waist or hip level. The belt is adapted to be stretched, tightened and secured around the waist or hips such that at least a part of the weight of the garment is substantially transferred to the waist or hips. The front portion of the garment has a lower flap adapted to lie against the front of the wearer and an upper flap for folding over the lower flap. The elasticized belt is secured releasably to the upper flap of the rear portion.

Abstract: Special garments for the disabled and infirm are provided with a front and back portion to enclose a portion of a person wherein the front is comprised of an inner front portion and a removable outer front portion. The inner front portion of the garment includes an outer face of a selected design and material having a fastening means disposed about a selected area thereon. The outer front portion comprises an outer face of design and material matched with the selected design and material of the outer face of the inner front portion and an inner face which is fluid resistant and includes a fastening means about an area matched with the selected area of the inner front portion, designed to align and cooperate with the first fastening means to releasably attach together the outer face of the inner front portion and the inner face of the outer front portion forming a removable bib-like portion which matches the garment portion.

Abstract: The open mesh warp knit fabric of the present invention includes a base fabric knit with electrically nonconductive base yarn and forming an open mesh pattern of lightweight construction having spaced openings to provide ventilation therethrough. Electrically conductive filaments are incorporated in the base fabric and provide an open grid extending throughout the entire area of the base fabrics with the conductive filaments being incorporated predominantly in only one side of the base fabric. The conductive yarns provide only about one-half of one percent of the total weight of the fabric and are of a relatively fine denier so that the conductive yarn is substantially invisible to the naked eye. Various types of garments and accessories are illustrated as being formed of the electrostatic dissipating fabric.

Abstract: A sleeveless, preferably lined, apron of jacket length sewn together at the shoulders having a back panel of about the same length as the front panel with detachable multicolored two-dimensional cut out toys provided on the front so that the mother or babysitter can observe or actively participate in the baby's play involving detaching or reattaching these toys to the front of the apron. Exemplary multicolored toys in the form of two-dimensional detachable appliques are a butterfly, a kitten, a lion, a Noah's Ark, and the letters A, B & C. A toy may include a sounding device, such as a bell which is attached to the butterfly and cannot be detached by the infant. The Noah's Ark is attached by buttons fitting into buttonholes and these are manipulated by the child. The Letters A, B & C each differently colored, match outlines on the apron in the corresponding color, (blue for A, green for B, red for C) to attach by means of VELCRO fasteners (VELCRO is a hook and pile type fastener).

Abstract: A sports accessory which can be used as a towel comprises a sheet of absorbent material which can be folded along lines (6) in a concertina fashion to form an elongate portion. The accessory may be in the form of a belt provided with an end region (1a) having a buckle (2) and, at the other end, a flap (3) which, with the sheet folded into the form of a belt, can be passed through buckle (2) for securing around the waist of a wearer.In another embodiment, the pleated sheet is permanently secured in the form of an elongate portion, but can be opened out for use as a towel for wiping hands and/or face of a person taking exercise. This embodiment may be used as a belt or may be provided with attachment means for attachment to sports equipment.

Abstract: An infant towel and particularly a method for its use beginning with it being worn by the adult user and ending with it being completely wrapped around the infant. This apron-towel has substantially identical front and rear rectangular absorbant panels. These panels are interconnected with spaced shoulder straps that are each readily detachable at the shoulders.In use, the infant is placed in the front panel, dried, and then the back panel is brought directly over the user's head to encapsulate and assist in drying the infant. By detaching one of the shoulder straps, the back panel can alternatively be brought to the front by bringing it around the side instead of over the head.

Abstract: A disposable easy to put on unisex driver's bib-apron for use while dining on fast food. The bib-apron features tuck in panels to help ensure protection of the legs of the wearer. Preferably the bib-apron is made of plastic coated paper or similar materials.

Abstract: An air conditioned apron is provided. The apron has an internal apron pocket. An air conditioner including an air blower is mounted within the apron pocket. The air conditioner includes an air duct for conveying air discharged by the blower to the apron pocket and/or to the atmosphere outside the apron. This air duct has a first exit extending outside of the apron through an apron opening, and a second exit within the apron pocket. The flow of air through the first duct exit is selectively controlled to thereby direct flow of air as desired through the second duct exit and into the apron pocket. In this way, the apron pocket may be heated, cooled or ventilated to the extent desired. Various alternatives are disclosed, including rotatable insert and pivotal damper types of control. In some alternatives, the first duct exit is inclined at an approximate 30 degree angle to the vertical. In one modification, this exit is an elongated tube which discharges conditioned air near the face of the apron wearer.

Abstract: A sport garment for women has an outer side and an inner side and comprises a fabric piece having a maximum dimension perpendicular to a centerline, an upper edge extending both ways therefrom from a first garment end to a second garment end, a lower edge including a curved central portion defining a central garment portion symmetrical with respect to the centerline and having a center of curvature above the lower edge and first and second end portions extending from the central portion to the first and second garment ends and defining first and second garment end portions, respectively, first and second pockets, each sized to receive a plurality of tennis balls, on the central portion on the outer side of the garment and symmetrical with respect to the centerline. Each pocket has an opening facing the upper edge. The garment end portions are releasably joinable about a wearer's waist with the inner side confronting the wearer's body.

Abstract: A radiology apron having a radiation protective material such as lead incorporated therein has means for supporting part of the weight of the apron at the user's waist on a belt or the waist of trousers worn by such user. Such means may include a bracket which mounts on the belt or trousers with a hook onto which an eyelet attached to the apron is placed, may include a notched portion formed on the bracket onto which a bolt attached to the apron is placed or may include such a hook member integrally attached to the apron.

Abstract: A waitress apron which includes front and back panels fastened to each other to provide a pair of recesses or pockets, and a rectangular third panel fastened around three edges to the back panel within one of such pockets, the fourth edge being removably secured to the back panel by hook-and-loop pressure/contact fastening means and hidden from view externally of the apron.

Abstract: Disposable torso-cover sheet stock consisting essentially of a roll of flexible sheet material having defined therein, by transverse lines at which said sheet material is readily severable, a plurality of disposable torso covers of rectangular shape, each having an interior severance line in the shape of a T, with no part thereof of the T extending to any edge of said rectangular shape, the T being openable for a head to pass therethrough, the crossbar portion of the T being parallel with one of the narrower sides of said rectangular shape and its depending stem portion being approximately equally spaced from and parallel to each of the longer sides of said rectangular shape. Preferably, belt loop lines of severance are provided in the sheet stock and a roll of belting is included.

Abstract: A protective material for use in articles of apparel such as golves, leggings, sleeves, aprons and the like. The protective material comprises a base layer composed of textile material, an intermediate layer composed of a cut-resistant material having intermeshing strands defining pores therebetween and an outer layer composed of solid, elastomeric material which retards penetration by liquid. The elastomeric material covers and is bonded to the base layer which prevents passage entirely therethrough by liquid, elastomeric material but permits partial penetration. The solid, elastomeric material extends through the pores of the intermediate layer and encapsulates the strands thereof. A method for producing the protective material comprises dipping an article composed of base layer and intermediate layer into a bath of liquid, elastomeric material preferably after absorbing into the base layer a coagulant for the liquid elastomeric material.

Abstract: The invention is directed to an improved gun case which includes a bullet resistant material, integrally formed as part of the gun case or as an insert within the gun case, so that the gun case may be converted into a lightweight shield or a personal body protector garment.

Abstract: A seat protection device for skiers includes a belt with a compact container at the back of the belt which contains a seat protection flap fastened at one end to the inside of the container. The flap is folded or rolled into the stored position within the container. An opening provides access to the free end of the seat protecting flap whereby the flap can be unfolded or unrolled to cover the skier's seat. When the skier finishes using the seat protection flap, it is rolled or folded into the stored position back within the container.

Abstract: Temporary disposable apparel, such as a bib is formed in a multilayer arrangement with at least one absorbent panel and a non-absorbent panel. The absorbent panel forms the front and the non-absorbent panel forms the back with the non-absorbent panel offset downward or longitudinally terminating in a free flap. A series or strip of such bibs are tear line connected and may be packaged in a roll. The offset feature of the two panels provides for protection of an adhesive strip on the upper inside of the absorbent panel by the free flap of the adjacent bib in the strip. Tear lines between connecting or adjacent bibs in the strip provide for convenient packaging.

Abstract: A hook-like end for a drawstring is formed by folding one end of the drawstring back on itself and then stitching that folded end so a hook-like portion of appreciable length is formed. If, through inadvertence or through deliberate intent, a force were to be applied to that drawstring which would tend to pull that end of that drawstring through a tubular passage on a garment, the hook-like portion would engage an outer surface of the tubular passage and halt movement of that drawstring inwardly relative to that passage.

Abstract: Methods are provided for producing protective and useful wearing apparel, such as work gloves, work boots and aprons, and wearing apparel so produced by such methods. The methods include joining a non-woven fibrous web, such as needled felt to a knitted web, such as a knitted jersey, and utilizing a needled staple fiber preferably from the non-woven web to join the two webs together into a formed laminate. The joining procedure is such that the finished laminate includes the needled staple fiber extending from one surface of the web to form a base surface for a subsequent application of an elastomeric coating. The resulting coated surface is textured to provide a gripping surface, for example, for use in gloves to handle smooth surfaced items with sharp edges, such as glass. The remaining exposed non-woven fibrous web surface forms a soft protective internal surface for the weaving apparel such as gloves or boots.

Abstract: A disposable bib, napkin or apron of flexible sheet material having a neck cutout in its upper edge portion and two shoulder pieces adjacent the cutout. The upper edge portion carries a pressure-sensitive adhesive capable of releasably adhering to the clothing or body of a user. The garment is folded upon itself prior to use about a fold line approximately midway between and generally parallel to the side edges of the garment, the adhesive releasably securing the garment in folded condition and all of the adhesive being covered by the folded garment itself. The pressure-sensitive adhesive is arranged in discontinuous areas on opposite sides of the fold line with the adhesive areas offset to be out of contact with one another when the garment is folded upon itself. To prepare the garment for use, adhesive-free edge portions are pulled apart to open the garment and expose the adhesive for placement against the clothing or body of a user.

Abstract: A disposable bib, napkin or apron of flexible sheet material having a neck cutout in its upper edge portion and two shoulder pieces adjacent the cutout. The upper edge portion carries a pressure-sensitive adhesive capable of releasably adhering to itself and to the clothing or body of a user, the adhesive extending substantially continuously across substantially the entire upper edge portion of the garment, leaving upper side edge portions free of adhesive, and extending downwardly for an appreciable distance to below the cutout. The garment is folded upon itself prior to use with one portion of the adhesive contacting and overlying another portion thereof whereby the entire area of adhesive is covered by the garment itself. To prepare the garment for use, the adhesive-free upper side edge portions are pulled apart to open the garment and expose the adhesive for placement against the clothing or body of a user.

Abstract: A disposable bib, napkin or mini-apron of generally quadrilateral shape having a neck cutout in its upper edge portion and two shoulder pieces adjacent the cutout. The entire upper edge portion is coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive adapted to adhere to fabric pressed there against, the adhesive extending from slightly below the upper edge for an appreciable width downwardly to below the cutout and being protected by a removable overlay extending above the adhesive. For general use, the overlay is folded down to expose the adhesive for attaching the bib to the upper portion of a wearer's clothing. After use, the napkin is easily removed and discarded.

Abstract: A heat insulative protector or the like, comprising at least a layer of a synthetic fabric of an organic fiber of copolyamide, wherein the fibers are woven or formed into a fabric. Articles such as hot pads, protective coverings, aprons, garments, or the like, are fabricated of, in addition to a closely interwoven fabric layer, another superpositioned layer of like fibers punched into a low density, high bulk flannel with a synthetic rubber, fire resistant coating. Such combination provides, for example, an apron for commercial and/or industrial use with a high protective quality to the wearer thereof.

Abstract: An adjustable apron is disclosed which is made of three separate pieces of vinyl fabric, namely a body member and two identical crescent-shaped arm cut-out strips. The vinyl fabric is a soft and flexible vinyl laminate formed by bonding poly(vinyl chloride) to a woven cotton cloth. The apron is so constructed as to provide a neck loop which is adjustable for wearers having a wide variety of body shapes and sizes. The apron is provided with a pair of arcuate arm cut-outs having seams each of which has a critical radius in the range from 25 cm to about 40 cm. With this radius, when the apron is worn, with its vinyl surface exteriorly disposed, the cotton cloth inner surface of the laminate frictionally engages the clothing of the wearer and provides a good fit with a relatively large contact surface which allows the wearer to secure the apron in a comfortable position on his body.

Abstract: Disposable plastic film aprons are prepared from plastic film strip material folded longitudinally in indefinite lengths and the folded film strip packaged in roll form and perforated to provide a plurality of readily separable aprons. The plastic film strip has a plurality of perforations extending transversely thereof to separate one apron from the next on said strip and defining a curved bottom to each apron. The strip has perforations defining straps positioned on opposite sides of each apron extending longitudinally thereof to provide tie straps operable to be tied around the neck of the user and also has perforations extending from the longitudinal fold to define a neck opening. The material is cut away in the portion providing the tie straps but the material remains in place at the neck opening and is removed only after severing of the apron from the roll.

Abstract: An apron comprising large and small, generally truncated triangular, burgee flags bearing an insignia of a yacht club or the like. The large flag is worn with the base of the triangle uppermost to form the bib of an apron. Grommets are provided in both aprons along the sides thereof, at the top and bottom of the small flag and at the top and midway of the length of the large flag, and lengths of nautical line connect opposing grommets, front to back. The small flag may be arranged with the triangular base at the shoulders or inverted to form the back waistband, as best suited to the waist measurement of the wearer.

Abstract: Roll of disposable aprons formed of flat, unfolded strip of plastic monofilm or film laminate having spaced, transverse perforations and predetermined cut-out areas and packaged in a roll from which discrete aprons can be removed by tearing at the longitudinal perforations, with the resultant aprons, without any further tearing or unfolding, having neck holes and tie straps and being directly ready for donning by users.

Abstract: An apron has a basic harness separate from a front cover. The harness comprises neck straps and waist straps with fastener panels extending between the neck and waist straps. Preferably the fastener panels are separable. Each fastener panel has fixed to its exterior fastening means such as a zipper component, hooks and eyes, snaps fasteners or buttons. Each of one or more front covers, has compatible fasteners on its underside adapted to secure the front cover to the halter fastener panels. Preferably the front cover is an apron style having a gathered stretch zone near its upper portion to accommodate various sized wearers.

Abstract: The invention relates to a machine for and method of handling sheet material for forming, for example, bib aprons in a simple and economical way. Sheets of material are automatically directed along a feed path to a folding station at which a string or strip is formed into a "V" shape in spaced juxtaposition above the sheet material. Opposed corners of the sheet material are folded over legs of the "V" and the apex of the "V" is thereafter severed to form neck tie elements.

Abstract: A protective covering which can prevent water from contacting certain portions of the body, such as the abdomen. The covering includes a sheet of flexible fluid impervious material with a fastening device, such as a velcro fastener adjacent its two end portions permitting the sheet to be placed around the body and held by overlapping the end portions. A flexible foam rod is placed along the top of the sheet; the rod being covered with a flexible sleeve. One end of the rod is uncovered and at the opposite end the sleeve is open ended, so that as the sheet wraps around the body portion, the uncovered edge of the rod can telescopically fit into the open end of the sleeve. The covered rod forms a seal against the body for preventing water from reaching the body portion.

Abstract: A radiation shield apron includes a front apron panel for covering the front of the body from the neck and shoulder tops to at least the knees with inner and outer cover sheets of fabric and multiple flexible sheets of radiation shielding material between the cover sheets and coextensive therewith. A pair of broad-backed wing panels are joined to the front panel along the top shoulder lines and side edges of the front panel. Each wing panel forms a broad combination one-piece shoulder and tie band which ties at the waist at the front of the apron to distribute the weight of the front panel broadly and evenly across the shoulders, chest, back and hips of the wearer for maximum comfort and minimum fatigue.
