Abstract: Disclosed is a pivot mechanism for a shield for a helmet, the pivot mechanism comprising a curved track having a first end and a second end; and a clamp slidingly engaged to the curved track, wherein the clamp is configured to attach to an end of the shield and slide along the track between a first position proximate to the first end of the curved track and a second position proximate to the second end of the curved track.

Abstract: A helmet cover includes a cover configured to extend over a helmet and at least one mount attached to the cover. In one embodiment, a backing plate is coupled to the at least one mount and the cover is sandwiched between the backing plate and the at least one mount.

Abstract: A helmet that includes a subliner shell comprised of a hard impact resistant material. The shell has inner and outer surfaces. A subliner element having a first foam pad having a top surface and a bottom surface. The top surface is attached to the inner surface of the shell. A second foam pad is constructed of an energy absorbing viscoelastic foam material that is radially partitioned into individual segments. The segments are nested with respect to each other such that the nested segments have side surfaces in slidable direct contacting engagement with side surfaces of adjacent nested segments. The second foam pad has a top surface attached to the bottom surface of the first foam pad. A third foam pad has a top surface and a bottom surface, with the top surface of the third foam pad being attached to the bottom surface of the second foam pad.

Abstract: A sensor includes a housing and a mass, suspended in the housing. The motion of the mass emulates dynamic behavior of a brain of the wearer along a plurality of axes. At least one sensing element is coupled to generate sensor data based on the motion of the mass, in response to an impact to a protective helmet.

Abstract: A buckle includes a coupling block engaged with a body of swimming/diving goggles. A pressing block is mounted to an outer side of the coupling block. A pin is mounted to an inner side of the pressing block and has a spacing to a pressing edge of an insertion hole of the coupling block. The inner side of the pressing block includes first and second surfaces. A fulcrum is located between the first and second surfaces and abuts a pressing face on the outer side of the pressing block. A section of a head strap is received in the insertion hole and wound around the pin. The pressing block can be pivoted about the fulcrum to move the pin away from the pressing edge of the coupling block to increase the spacing between the pin and the pressing edge, allowing loosening of the head strap.

Abstract: A respirator mask has a removably mounted support frame that adjustably and removably mounts a corrective lens frame. The corrective lens frame further has a molded bridge with a biasing member embedded therein. A pivotal tab on the support frame is received in one of a plurality of detents on the lens frame for releasably securing the lens frame in the desired position on the support frame. Laterally disposed mounting lugs on the support frame are received in integrally molded pockets in the respirator mask.

Abstract: Closed air space devices and methods of use for full body bio hazard type suits that eliminates condensation and fogging from forming on the face masks and the window visors of the suit. The devices and methods have a sealed closed air space that can be formed from flexible see-through plastic in a cone shape that can be sealed between the mask and the visor. The closed air space can be pre-sealed to the visor/outer wall of the suit and have a second end fitted with an elastic type band that allows the wearer to attach and detach the closed space by wrapping the band about their face mask. Other embodiments use flat see-through plastic sheets, and sheets that attach about the neck of the user to form the closed air spaces between the face mask and the window visor of the suit.

Abstract: A chinstrap with a chin cup for a protective headgear that has a first side panel covering at least a portion of one side of the head of a user and a second side panel covering at least a portion of the opposite side of the head. The chinstrap includes a first free end attachment to the chin cup and extends laterally therefrom from cup and a second free end attached to the chin cup extending laterally therefrom opposite the first free end. A hook/loop fastening system is attached to the free ends of the chinstrap and chin cup whereby the free ends operatively engage the headgear and are releasable secured to the chin cup.

Abstract: An elasticized, weatherproof assembly adapted to being attached to a military helmet. Foliage and the like available for the surrounding terrain may be inserted into the assembly at points over the entire helmet. The present invention also provides a face and bug net attachable to said helmet assembly. The face and bug net may be stored in a rolled up position onto the helmet assembly or deployed. In the deployed state the face and bug net is rolled down over the face and neck, thereby camouflaging the face and neck while also providing bug protection. The present invention also provides a bundle of camouflage strips stored attached to the apex of the helmet assembly. In a deployed state, the camouflage strips extend downward over the helmet.

The helmet attachment further includes an attachment mechanism for securing the structure to a surface of a helmet.

Abstract: A protective head gear includes a protective portion for covering at least part of the back of a user's head. A headband strap is included for extending from the protective portion at the back of the user's head to the user's forehead to hold the protective portion in place at the back of the user's head.

Abstract: A mouthpiece assembly for use in detecting impact forces on the neck and head of a user is disclosed. The mouthpiece assembly includes sensors which determine linear and rotational impact forces on the user. The mouthpiece assembly includes a mouth guard having a channel sized to receive the upper teeth therein. A raised dome portion extends from the mouth guard and is adapted to be positioned adjacent the roof of the mouth. The sensors are located in the raised dome portion and the mouth guard or in other locations of the mouthpiece if mouthpiece sensors are required. An indicator is provided to provide a visual and/or audible indication when the magnitude of an impact exceeds a threshold value.

Abstract: A helmet neck skirt system for covering an entirety of a user's neck to inhibit debris and adverse weather from providing discomfort to the user includes a collar member couplable to a full circumferential length around a base portion of a protective helmet such that the collar member extends down from the helmet generally parallel to the user's neck. Thus, the collar remains in generally spaced relationship to the user's neck and permits the insertion of an upper portion of a jacket or shirt worn by the user between the neck of the user and the lower portion of the collar. The collar extends down a distance sufficient to cover an entirety of the user's neck.

Abstract: A helmet, sized and shaped to receive the head of a wearer, includes a ballistic shield that is pivotally movable between a raised position for spanning and protecting the frontal area of the face of the wearer and a lowered position for spanning and protecting the mandibular area of the face of the wearer. Detent means interacting between the helmet and the shield releasably retain the ballistic shield in the lowered position and in the raised position.

Abstract: A mask tightening strap, whereby a tightening device of a conventional diving face mask or swimming goggles is configured to comprise a protective sleeve attached to an inner side of a tightening strap. A fastening strap is configured on one end of the protective sleeve close to a frame of the diving mask. A hollow out portion is defined by a side of the fastening strap, and thereby enables a retaining ring of a breathing tube to clasp onto a strap in the hollow out portion. The protective sleeve can thus realize complete separation of the retaining ring from skin of a diver, and thus not only makes wearing of the face mask more comfortable, but also averting hypersusceptibility skin reactions from occurring or scratching of the skin of the diver.

Abstract: A helmet having an outer shell defining an inwardly facing surface extending to an edge of the shell, and a lining defining an outer surface facing the inwardly facing surface of the shell, an inner surface which in use faces the head of a person wearing the helmet, and an edge surface extending between the inner and outer surfaces of the lining adjacent the edge of the shell. A strap is secured to the outer shell and extends from between the inwardly facing surface of the outer shell and the outer surface of the lining. Means such as a hook and loop fastening are provided for releasably attaching a portion of the strap immediately adjacent the lining to the edge surface of the lining, such that the strap adjacent the shell edge is pulled towards the head of the wearer.

Abstract: An improved protective headgear apparatus for usage in connection with sporting activities, such as football, hockey, cycling, and the like, and other activities requiring the usage of protective head gear. The protective headgear apparatus is specifically designed to improve the absorption and dissipation of primary forces directly into the shell of the helmet. The assembly comprises a plurality of pre-formed protective pads removably affixed to critical areas of the exterior of the helmet shell for the purpose of decreasing trauma and concussion to users thereof. Such critical or vulnerable locations are: (1) each side of the helmet, at the ear and above the ear; (2) the front of the helmet, between and above the eyes; (3) the rear or occipital area; and (4) the crown of the dome.

Abstract: A mirror assembly is provided that can be affixed to a helmet for use by snowmobile, motorcycle and ATV vehicle riders. The mirrors are capable of adjustment in three directions and are detachable from the helmet.

Abstract: An ear protection device made of an insulating fabric that adjustably and releasably fastens to the retaining strap of an eye goggles unit. The device utilizes elastic means to retain its lower edge proximate the head of the wearer under even severe conditions.

Abstract: A training device for teaching a soccer player the correct location to "bunt" or "head" a soccer ball. The device includes multiple layers of individual, removable pads which enable a player to gradually wean himself/herself from the training device and allow players over a wide range of skill levels to benefit from the training device. The pads are concealed from view once on place within a pocket within the cap member, thereby making the device commercially attractive and available for use is displaying advertising or the like. Accordingly, the device should be especially attractive to young players who will benefit from learning the proper location and produce for safely performing the "bunting" of "heading" technique.

Abstract: This invention provides an ear protector to prevent water from entering the ear during watersport activities like swimming, surface snorkeling or child's play in the water. It provides for waterproof ear pieces which are adhered to a head band worn either over the head and under the chin or, in combination with a viewing piece, around the front of the head to the rear of the head. While the ear pieces and viewing piece are watertight around the ears or eyes due to suction of suitable material, the band can also be tightened to further promote tightness against water.

Abstract: The present invention is a stabilizing strap for a cyclist helmet which comprises two flexible elongated strap members which are adjustably and releasably attached at their first end to the interior surface of the helmet rim portion, at the rear end of the helmet, by means of hook and loop fasteners. The strap members are adjustably and releasably attached at their second end to one another also by means of hook and loop fasteners. The curved strap is destined to bear on the occipital bone of the head, to prevent the helmet from accidentally tilting frontwardly, especially as a result of an impact. The flexibility and the several adjustments of the stabilizing strap allow it to fit heads of different sizes and shapes.

Abstract: A bicycle helmet is disclosed having a flexible, articulated member depending from the rear of the helmet, providing a closer fit to an individual wearer's head and improving stability of the helmet on the head, particularly for mountain bike riding. The articulated member contacts the wearer's head beneath the occipital region and applies a forward and upward pressure against the head. The general embodiment of the invention includes an elastic strap stretching from one side of the helmet, across the back of the articulated member, to the opposite side of the helmet. Adjusting this strap allows the wearer to adjust the forward and upward pressure exerted by the articulated member on the wearer's head.

Abstract: An adjustable safety helmet visor that extends for protection for the face by providing a simple one-piece adjustable add-on visor that will fit a multitude of helmet configurations. The visor is formed of a pre-cut deformable synthetic resin material that is removably secured to the helmet by continuous bands of interengageable hook and loop material along its edges.

Abstract: Winter sports goggles are secured by a two-sided headband made of a double layer of insulating fabric. Downward extensions of the fabric on the sides provide earcovers. The two sides of the headband overlap around the head and are adjustably connected by mating strips of hook and loop fasteners. An advertising logo may be affixed to one or both sides of the headband. The goggles are contoured with a foam edge contacting the face. Foam covered openings on the top and bottom edges of the goggles allow moisture to escape from behind the transparent windscreen which filters ultraviolet rays. A narrow band of elasticized material sewn between the fabric layers of the headband connect each end of the headband to the goggles through a slotted extension from the goggles on each side or through slotted hooks snapping into openings in the sides of the goggles.

Abstract: A sun visor for eye glasses, comprising a U-shape or arcuate frame member which supports a stretchable fabric covering, in which the fabric covering includes an upper and lower panel to provide a pocket therebetween. The upper and lower panels are sewn together around the arcuate or U-shape portion of their periphery in a pair of spaced apart peripheral seams that provides a peripheral through passageway for the U-shaped or arcuate frame member. The opposite end portions of the arcuate frame member project outwardly from each opposite opening to the peripheral through passageway. A strip of material having tiny hook members thereon is secured to the inwardly facing surface of each outwardly projecting end portion for releasably connecting to corresponding members having tiny loops thereon secured to the forward ends of the temple pieces of the eye glasses, to releasably secure the sun visor to the eye glasses.

Abstract: A new and improved protective cap apparatus includes a first padding assembly which is adapted to fit onto a person's head, especially a child's. The first padding assembly includes a circular padding band adapted to fit circumferentially around a person's head in a horizontal orientation. The first padding assembly includes a plurality of semi-circular padding bands. Each respective semi-circular padding band includes a respective end portion which is connected to the circular padding band, such that each semi-circular padding band extends diametrically across the circular padding band forming a vertically oriented semi-circular arch. The respective semi-circular padding bands arc oriented with respect to each other such that the semi-circular padding bands overlap each other at a ninety degree angle. The circular padding band includes a stretchable portion which is capable of stretching to accommodate the first padding assembly to a variety of sizes of persons heads.

Abstract: A combined goggles and headband assembly comprising a goggles unit including a unitary goggles connected by a retaining strap for encircling the head of a wearer, and a cover for the ears of the wearer comprising a piece of cloth and fasteners of a length and width to encircle the retaining strap from opposed end edges of the goggles.

Abstract: A helmet having an outer shell defining an inwardly facing surface extending to an edge of the shell, and a lining defining an outer surface facing the inwardly facing surface of the shell, an inner surface which in use faces the head of a person wearing the helmet, and an edge surface extending between the inner and outer surfaces of the lining adjacent the edge of the shell. A strap is secured to the outer shell and extends from between the inwardly facing surface of the outer shell and the outer surface of the lining. Means such as a hook and loop fastening are provided for releasably attaching a portion of the strap immediately adjacent the lining to the edge surface of the lining, such that the strap adjacent the shell edge is pulled towards the head of the wearer.
