The airbag includes a bag body that forms an outer shell of the airbag which includes an inner wall adapted to face the wearer when worn and an outer wall opposite to the inner wall, the bag body including one or more protecting inflatable portions for covering and protecting one or more targeted body parts respectively, and an inner bag that is disposed inside the bag body and configured to be inflated with the inflation gas from the gas generator. The inner bag includes one or more supply ports for forwarding the inflation gas to the bag body. Each of the supply ports is configured to emit the inflation gas toward one of the protecting inflatable portions and toward the outer wall.

Only a portion of the hook tape overlaps and is fixed to an end of the knitted cloth.

    Abstract: The invention is a self-contained protective device/system designed to protect the hips, pelvis, buttocks, and coccyx areas of the user. The device may be worn outside of the clothing. Because it is small in size and lightweight, it may be easily put on and removed and does not interfere with body movements. It contains the following components: an inflatable air bag folded into pleats, a battery, a gas cartridge, sensors to determine angular motion and acceleration, a triggering/valve mechanism to release the gas and a relief valve. When the user falls, the sensors automatically release gas from the cartridge and inflate the airbag assembly, forcing the folded pleats to fully cover said areas of the user's body. After use the relief valve is opened to release air from the airbag assembly, the pleats are reinserted into the system and the invention is ready for reuse after the spent cartridge is replaced.

    Abstract: To provide effective and protective sliding means for in-line roller skating, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW) plates are detachably fastened to the protective outerclothes and gloves of the user. Hook and loop fasteners are used in a manner that permits the UHMW plates to articulate on the fastening as the plate slides or skids on the pavement and the user's position changes during the slide. With the hook and loop fastening, excessive shear stress or pulling, from contact with an obstruction, permits the UHMW plate to separate before these stresses damage the skid plate, the hook and loop fastening, the adhesive bonds or the underlying protective clothing. The result is a slide or sliding fall as on ice in ice skating and various fall and slide maneuvers of the ice skater are made practical for the in-line roller skater on pavement.
