This is achieved by removably attaching the shield to a stiffened cap, which is then worn on the head. The hood of the jacket is then pulled up over the cap, substantially protecting the wearer's head and face. The shield may be flipped up and out of the way when desired.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2013Publication date: February 27, 2014Inventor: Mubeen A. Cutchi

Publication number: 20130291272Abstract: Face covers, protective outwear systems, and methods for manufacturing the same are disclosed. A cover is disclosed for protecting the human face, head, neck, and/or shoulders against environmental conditions. The cover, which does not cover the eyes, nostrils or mouth, includes 2-4 separate pieces which can be worn together or individually. A first piece covers the face from above the mouth to below the eyes, including the nose and cheeks. A second piece covers the face from below the mouth to the bottom of the neck. These pieces can overlap on the cheeks to minimize/prevent air and moisture from reaching the face. A third piece covers the head and/or neck and/or shoulders. These pieces can be joined together by any known means. Any piece can be made with a moldable material and/or elastic components which allow the mask to fit different faces and/or help ventilate exhalations away from the face.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2013Publication date: November 7, 2013Applicant: Outeru Gear, Inc.Inventor: Kevin C. Patent number: 8555413Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a flexible nose guard is provided for protecting the nose from sunlight, the cold, and other outdoor elements. The nose guard is configured to cover the bridge and sides of a user's nose. In a preferred embodiment, the nose guard has a pentagonal body, resembling an upside-down pentagon with rounded corners. The top portion of the nose guard is substantially flat and sized to conform around the bridge of the nose. The bottom portion of the nose guard is a rounded corner or hyperbolic-shape configured to rest on top of the bridge of the nose. In a preferred embodiment, the nose guard is composed of an outer first layer of spandex having a sun protective factor, an intermediate second layer of open-cell foam, and a third, skin-facing layer of micro-suede material that contacts the skin. The nose guard offers different means of attachment to a user's face.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2010Date of Patent: October 15, 2013Inventor: Robert Gregory Beliveau

Patent number: 8549662Abstract: A protective head gear for a user having an outer panel, an inner panel, a retention pleat on the inner panel, a respirator, and an indexed fastener. The outer panel is disposed relative to the inner panel to provide efficacious spatial separation therebetween. The fastener is formed to adjustably and releasably secure at least a portion of the inner panel to the user. An indexing element is attached to the fastener, and is formed of material substantially tactilely different from the fastener, the outer panel, or the inner panel, to permit the user to unambiguously locate the point of fastening. The outer panel, inner panel, and respirator, can be composed of fabrics having one or more layer, and one layer can have a repellent characteristic different from another (e.g., hydrophobic vs. hydrophilic).Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2012Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: Wrong Gear, Inc.Inventor: Rong Chen Chang

Patent number: 8544112Abstract: A guard includes a transparent face shield, a neck strap having one end secured to one side of the guard and a second end secured to the opposite side of the guard, and a neck opening defined by the guard and the neck strap. The guard is worn by user with the user's neck extending through said neck opening such that said guard depends from the user's neck by said neck strap with an edge of said guard in contact with the user's chest and with said face shield extending upwardly in a direction from the user's chest shielding the user's face. The guard, when worn by the user, protects foodstuff handled by the user from contamination by the user sneezing or from other material falling from the user's head and/or face.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2011Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Inventor: Nigel Gosine

Publication number: 20130239283Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a spunbonded nonwoven fabric which has excellent flexibility, feel to the touch, forming properties and productivity without deteriorating the stretchability of a spunbonded nonwoven fabric containing a low crystalline polypropylene. A spunbonded nonwoven fabric-laminated multilayer structure of the invention includes an elastic nonwoven fabric which contains a low crystalline polypropylene satisfying (a) to (f) and an extensible spunbonded nonwoven fabric having an elongation at maximum load of not less than 50% in at least one direction, the extensible spunbonded nonwoven fabric being laminated on at least one surface of the elastic nonwoven fabric: (a) [mmmm]=20 to 60 mol %, (b) [rrrr]/(1?[mmmm])?0.1, (c) [rmrm]>2.5 mol %, (d) [mm]×[rr]/[mr]2?2.0, (e) mass average molecular weight (Mw)=10,000 to 200,000, (f) molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn)<4.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2011Publication date: September 19, 2013Applicant: MITSUI CHEMICALS, INC.Inventors: Tetsuya Yokoyama, Kenichi Suzuki

Patent number: 8490214Abstract: Ballistic material side elements are shaped to cover portions of a wearer's face and selectively attached to a ballistic helmet. The side elements cover the sides of the wearer's head, but leave room to avoid interfering with hearing needs and goggles. These side elements are held in place by connecting them to the existing helmet shell with an encircling strap and band, or to the straps and hardware of the helmet retention system by receiving portions of the straps through loops on the interior of the side elements. A front ballistic member may join the side elements to cover a significant portion of the wearer's face. The ballistic material is formed of a plurality of layers with a resin and joined by the application of pressure. Higher pressure in the forming of the side elements produces stiff members which stay in place when attached to the helmet.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2008Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: Lineweight LLCInventor: Caleb Clark Crye

Patent number: 8484762Abstract: An adjustable and flexible sports headgear for protecting against injuries. A front panel protects the forehead, eyes, nose, and face of the wearer. The front panel extends from the forehead to the nose tip, allowing the wearer to breathe, and has a pair of openings that accommodate the eyes and permit unobstructed vision. A rear panel protects the back of the head and has two ends and a fastener connecting the ends to secure the headgear to the head. Side panels extend from opposite ends of the front panel to the rear panel. The side panels have ear protectors with apertures that facilitate hearing. Impact-absorbing padding is located along the front panel to protect the forehead and along the side panels to protect the temples. A strap connects the side panels with a releasable connector and, when connected, spans over the top of the head of the wearer.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2011Date of Patent: July 16, 2013Inventor: Samuel A.
