  • Patent number: 8454372
Abstract: An electronic device includes a power plug and a power socket coupled to the power plug. The power plug includes a housing, two plug contacts, one conductive member, two conductive resilient pieces, and two magnetic members. The conductive resilient pieces are positioned in the housing, and are electrically connected to the conductive member. The magnetic members are positioned in the housing, and opposite to the at least two conductive resilient pieces. The power socket includes an inner housing, two socket contacts, and two metal pieces. The inner housing defines an assembly groove to receive the power plug. The metal pieces are positioned in the assembly groove of the inner housing, and are opposite to the magnetic members, such that a magnetic attraction force exerted between the metal pieces and the magnetic member actuates the power plug.

Abstract: A stacked electrical connector has an insulative housing (1), a plurality of signal contacts (23, 26) and a pair of contacts (24, 27, 25, 28) retained in the housing. The housing defines a mounting surface (19) for mounting on a printed circuit board and a receiving space (12) for receiving a mating plug (9). The switch contact includes a base portion retained in the housing and a spring arm extending from the base portion. An insulative separator (245) is formed on one spring arm and projects into the receiving space. The separator is moveable in a plane vertical to the mounting surface. When the mating plug inserts into the receiving space, the separator rotates and drives one switch contact to connect with the other switch contact.

Abstract: A combination electrical plug, receptacle and switch includes a cylindrical plug portion in which is inserted a cylindrical receptacle portion. The plug portion may be plugged into a conventional electrical socket. An electrical appliance or device may be plugged into the receptacle end. Electrical contacts in the plug portion and the receptacle portion can be made to contact to form a pathway for electrical current by a applying a twisting motion to the receptacle portion. The pathway for the electrical current may be disconnected by twisting the receptacle portion the other way. In this manner, the combination may be conveniently used as an on/off switch for almost any electrical device. Safety features include a way to block twisting of the receptacle end when the switch is in the off position unless the receptacle end is first pulled slightly away from the plug end before twisting it.

Abstract: In a connector, the position at which a pointed part of a rocking terminal slidingly contacts an insertion and the position at which the pointed part of the rocking terminal contacts an upper surface of a terminal plate are substantially the same. Therefore, shavings generated by the contact of the insertion and the pointed part or foreign matters adhering to the insertion may adhere to the pointed part of the rocking terminal and be pinched between the pointed part and the terminal plate, whereby no contact is caused by inserting the insertion into the connector. Then, with regard to a connector having a switch part comprising a rocking terminal (51) swayed by inserting an insertion (53) into a main body of the connector and a receiving terminal (52) arranged to contact the rocking terminal, a pointed part (51a) is formed on the rocking terminal, and the terminals contact electrically with each other by making the receiving terminal touch a side surface of the pointed part.
