  • Patent number: 7101206
Abstract: A memory card connector includes an insulative housing having a rear terminal-mounting section and at least one side wall section extending forwardly from one end of the rear section defining a card-receiving space therebetween. A first conductive terminal is mounted on the housing and has a first contact portion with a first protrusion thereon. A second conductive terminal is mounted on the housing and has a second contact portion with a second protrusion thereon. The contact portions of the terminals are normally spaced from each other but are juxtaposed so that the contact portions and the protrusions are mutually engaged in response to a memory card inserted into the card-receiving space. The protrusions are offset from each other, whereby the first protrusion of the first terminal engages the second contact portion of the second terminal, and the second protrusion of the second terminal engages the first contact portion of the first terminal.

Abstract: A compact vehicle-mounted electrical outlet box offering a reliable plug blade detection function. The electrical outlet box is formed from synthetic resin rectangular case 1 which includes body 2 and cover 3. A pair of electrical plug blades 100 and 101 are inserted into plug blade insertion slots 5 located on the front surface of case 1 through which the plug blades contact two blade receiver parts 10. The forceful contact of plug blades 100 and 101 rotate two pivot levers 12 which convert the insertion force of plug blades 100 and 101 to a directional force. Two return springs 13 apply pressure to pivot levers 12 in a direction opposite to that applied by the insertion of plug blades 100 and 101. Printed circuit block 14, which is comprised of circuit base plate 14a to which each microswitch 14b is installed, is housed within case 1. The two pivot levers 12 are located at the approximate mid-point of body 2 between the two mutually facing blade receiver parts.

  • Patent number: 6455789
Abstract: A shock-resistant electrical outlet is designed to prevent the application of power to the outlet only when a standard electrical plug is inserted nearly all of the way into the outlet. This is accomplished by providing at least two normally open switches in series circuit between the voltage line contact and an internal voltage contact which is engaged by the voltage prong of an electrical plug inserted into the outlet. The switches are closed by switch actuators located for simultaneous engagement by both the neutral and voltage prongs of an electrical plug when it is nearly fully inserted into the outlet to complete a circuit between the line voltage contact and the internal voltage contact in the voltage slot of the outlet.

Abstract: A socket provides power to a mating connector plug when actuated by a switch integral with the socket. The switch can be actuated by insertion of the connector plug, by pivoting open a socket cover, by sliding a slide cover into an operational position, or by a combination of the above. The switch is isolated from the power supplied to the socket and acts as a power supply signal to enable socket power. The socket is powered only when needed as indicated by the actuation method, thereby reducing draw on a power supply connected to the socket. The switch actuation methods described also provide safety features by disabling power to the socket unless the socket is actually in use. The socket cover and slide cover also prevent access to the socket unless positioned to receive a connector.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for locking a pluggable electrical unit in an enclosure of an electrical base unit, the pluggable electrical unit having at least one arresting element, which engages in a mating arresting element in the enclosure of the base unit in such a way that the physical removal of the pluggable electrical unit is prevented in the locked state. For the slot-dependent detection of the actuation of locking elements on the part of the base unit, it is proposed to arrange the arresting element (21) such that, in the rest position, it is concealed by a movable covering (24) in such a way that the arresting element (21) is only accessible once the covering (24) has been removed. The covering (24) is in operative connection with an electrical switching contact (25), each position of the covering (24) deviating from the rest position triggering the switching contact (25). The covering (24) can only be brought into the rest position in the locked state of the pluggable electrical unit (2).

Abstract: A direct-current power jack includes an insulative housing, a hole defined in a front face of the housing for insertion of a complementary power plug thereinto, a ground contact, a center contact, two switch contacts, two conductive contacts, and a joining member. When the plug is inserted into the power jack, the plug electrically connects firstly with the ground contact. The plug then electrically connects with the center contact. The plug then pushes the first switch contact to cause the first conductive contact to electrically connect with the joining member, and then pushes the second switch contact to cause the second conductive contact to electrically connect with the joining member. An electrical circuit electrically connecting with the power jack includes a ground circuit, a resistor, a capacitor and a load. The power jack prevents in-rush current sparking when it is engaged with the plug.
