  • Patent number: 8795475
Abstract: There is described a system and method for recycling carbon-containing material, in particular tires and plastics materials. The system includes a heating arrangement for anaerobically heating carbon containing material to produce carbon-containing gases. A condensing arrangement is also used to condense a proportion of the carbon-containing gases to provide condensed gases and non-condensed gases. In addition, a recirculating arrangement is provided for recirculating the non-condensed gases into the heating arrangement. Further systems and methods for pre- and post-processing of the carbon-containing material are also disclosed and products of the systems and methods are also described.

  • Patent number: 8728282
Abstract: This invention is about an industrial continuous cracking device of plastics. The technical program of this invention is as following: it includes the outer cylinder and the internal cylinder, and the two sides of the internal cylinder are connected with the outer cylinder; at least one of the outer cylinder and the internal cylinder is set with heating mechanism, and the helical ribbon is fixed in the inside of the outer cylinder wall; the transport mechanism is fixed in the internal cylinder, with its direction contrary to the outer cylinder's the feeding direction. The structures of this invention are simple, and it can reduce the possessive space. Furthermore, when cycling in the cylinder, the solid heat carrier has no heat energy loss, and that can substantially reduce the operation cost of the equipment.

  • Patent number: 8382959
Abstract: This invention relates to improvements to a transportable hydrocarbon-recovery unit. More particularly, this invention relates to an integral hydrocarbon-recovery unit that comprises a first evaporation system and a condensation system. The actual first evaporation system comprises means for supplying the material to be extracted that includes means for controlling supply, means for conveying said material, treatment-chamber means including internal cleaning means, means for heating the material, means for increasing the heat-transfer area, means for removing excess material, including means for increasing hermeticity, and means for conveying the extracted vapors towards the condensation system. The purpose of the invention is to provide a unit for extracting hydrocarbons and other contaminants from impregnated material at the same time as providing, over a shorter time period and with greater effectiveness, the recovery process.

  • Patent number: 8317980
Abstract: A reactor having a shaft protruding through one end, a fuel output tube protruding through a second end, shovels housed inside, and a discharge tube, is provided. A first end of the discharge tube is inside of the reactor and the second end protrudes out of the fuel output tube. A helix thruster can be inside the discharge tube and have a driver shaft with a first gear inside of the reactor. The reactor can also include a residue collector and a fork. The fork can be disposed on a driven shaft including a second gear, which engages the first gear of the helix thruster. A system for feeding materials into the reactor is also disclosed as well as methods of converting waste plastic or rubber into fuel using the reactor.

  • Patent number: 8246788
Abstract: A biomass torrefaction system is provided which enables a continuous torrefaction process that involves the introduction of biomass particles into a rotating reactor drum having a low oxygen environment. The particles are conveyed through the drum by a heated gas stream and simultaneously torrefied thereby. Gas exiting the drum is recirculated back to a heat source for reheating the gas prior to reentering the drum. A method of biomass torrefaction is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6849160
Abstract: An apparatus and method are for the pyrolysis of waste. The aparatus has a rotating cell formed of a cylinder in combination with a truncated cone rotating on the same axis. The apparatus also has a hopper for charging the waste at one end of the cylinder, an ash box at the other end of the cylinder, a gas recuperator, and a retaining threshold between the cylinder and the truncated cone. A region of intimate contact of the waste with itself is created, whereby the waste is converted into coke which is used as fuel in the pyrolysis of the waste.

  • Patent number: 5820736
Abstract: This apparatus can effect pyrolysis of hydrocarbon containing material at high temperature of 400.degree. to 500.degree. C. and under vacuum in consecutive batches. The apparatus comprises a cylindrical drum rotatable at a variable speed about a horizontal axis and spacedly surrounded by a heat insulating sheath; a gas burner heats the rotating drum along its entire length from the exterior of the same; a chimney communicates with the space between the drum and the sheath, which has ventilation openings closable by trap doors; the drum is supported by bearings so to allow its axial thermal expansion. A manifold system of filters is stationarily mounted within the rotating drum to filter out fine solid residues from the pyrolytic gases and vapors. This manifold is connected to a discharge tube which exits from one end of the drum and is fitted with a sealing joint to seal the drum around the stationary discharge tube.

  • Patent number: 5670025
Abstract: A coke oven door for placement against a door jamb of a coke oven comprises a segmented door body and plurality of toggle mechanisms coupled to the door at the juncture of each segment. The toggle mechanisms include inner and outer toggle links pivotally connected by an intermediate pivot shaft and the links are pivotable between an extended length and a shortened length. Inner ends of the toggle mechanism are coupled to the segmented door body and outer ends of the toggle mechanisms are coupled to a flexible latch tension bar. The latch tension bar engages latch hooks connected to the door jamb and vertical movement of a latch actuator rod coupled to the intermediate pivot shaft moves the toggle mechanisms to an extended position to flex the latch tension bars and force the door body against the door jamb to seal the coke oven.
