Abstract: A method for manufacturing a transparent conductive film, said method comprising: forming a compound layer containing a silazane compound on a substrate; supplying energy to the compound layer and thus converting at least a part of the silazane compound into a compound having a siloxane bond to thereby modify the compound layer; and then forming a metal layer, that is configured from silver or an alloy comprising silver as the main component, on the unmodified compound layer or the modified compound layer.
Abstract: A method and a system for producing a change in a medium. The method places in a vicinity of the medium at least one energy modulation agent. The method applies an initiation energy to the medium. The initiation energy interacts with the energy modulation agent to directly or indirectly produce the change in the medium. The system includes an initiation energy source configured to apply an initiation energy to the medium to activate the energy modulation agent.
Abstract: A problem of the present invention is to prevent a base layer beneath the layer to be irradiated with light from deterioration in property and a functional thin film from deterioration in property as the fine patterning of a functional film is performed with light irradiation. Means for solving the problem is a compound obtained by dimerizing with light irradiation a compound (A) containing a group that has photosensitivity and can be photodimerized and a group having lyophilicity and a compound (B) containing a group that has photosensitivity and can be photodimerized and a group having liquid-repellency.

Abstract: Nanosize titanium dioxide having supported thereon metallic platinum are efficient hydrosilylation catalysts whose hydrosilylation activity may be increased by irradiation. The catalysts are prepared by depositing soluble platinum compounds on a titanium dioxide sol or titanium dioxide pigments followed by drying, calcining, and reduction to platinum metal. The catalysts are particularly useful in preparing addition-curable organopolysiloxane elastomers.
Abstract: A component bonding preparation method employs plasma to prepare a component for bonding. A first plasma is used to hydroxylate a component surface. A second plasma is used to silanize the component surface.
Abstract: A method for the preparation of functionalized particles includes providing a feedstock made of particles, a surface treatment agent reactive with the particles, and solvent. The feedstock is exposed to microwave radiation to heat the feedstock and react the particles with the surface treatment agent to provide the functionalized particles in less than about 60 minutes.

Abstract: Transparent monolithic aerogels based on silica, the bioderived polymer chitosan, and coordinated ions are employed to serve as a three-dimensional scaffold decorated with metal ions such as Au, Pt and Pd ions. It has also been found that the metal aerogels, such as Au(III) aerogels, can be imaged photolytically to produce nanoparticles.

Abstract: A discoloration of an aminosilane having a content of a free base is treated by adding an acid chloride to the aminosilane to obtain a mixture having a molar excess of acid chloride; neutralizing the molar excess of the acid chloride in one or more steps with a molar deficit of a base to obtain a mixture containing a salt; separating off the salt from; and irradiating the remaining aminosilane with UV-containing light.
Abstract: A glass capillary for DNA analysis is provided, which allows the DNA detection efficiency of a DNA analyzer that uses electrophoresis to be increased, and allows the DNA analyzer to have a simple structure. A glass capillary for DNA analysis has an internal hole, and each of the glass capillary and the internal hole has a rectangular cross section. Since the glass capillary and the internal hole each have a rectangular cross section, scattering of the laser beam at the surfaces of the glass capillary can be prevented and hence the transmittance of the laser beam can be increased. As a result, the detection efficiency of the electrophoretic DNA analyzer can be increased, and moreover the analyzer can be given a simple structure.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to methods for altering the magnetic properties of materials and the novel materials produced by these methods. The methods of this invention concern the application of high voltage, high frequency sparks to the surface of materials in order to alter the magnetic properties of the materials. Specially, the present invention can be applied to diamagnetic silicon to produce ferromagnetic spark-processed silicon.
