  • Publication number: 20140034670
Abstract: A container 10 for mixing and dispensing of material having a liquid receptacle 14 and a plunger 18. The receptacle 14 has a front portion 36 and the plunger 18 has a forwardly projecting sharp protrusion 42 having a shaft 72 which terminates in a sharp outer end 78, 82. Upon the plunger 18 being depressed the sharp protrusion 42 pierces a front portion 36 of the liquid receptacle 14 and liquid in the receptacle 14 is pushed hydraulically through the front portion 36 into a main chamber 17. Thus the liquid contacts material in the main chamber 17 to form a mixture. The plunger 18 can continue to be depressed so as to break the front portion 36 of the liquid receptacle 14 away and then push the material in the main chamber 17 towards a dispensing nozzle 26. The main chamber 17 has a frangible membrane 22 at a distal end 13 thereof which is hydraulically broken by pressure applied from the material in the main chamber 17 so that the material can be dispensed from the container 10.

Abstract: A universal bottle cap capable of threadably engaging two or more bottles of a different thread arrangement having a substance retained therein. The universal bottle cap threadedly engages a bottle containing a beverage therein. Such universal bottle cap includes a cylindrical member closed at a first end thereof and open at a second end thereof. There is a threaded portion disposed on an inner surface of the cylindrical member for engaging a threaded end of such bottle. A capsule like device is disposed inside the cylindrical member adjacent the closed end for retaining a substance to be dispensed into a beverage in such bottle. A device for piercing the capsule engages each of the threaded portion of the bottle cap and the capsule for piercing the capsule as the universal bottle cap is threaded onto such bottle thereby releasing contents of the capsule into such beverage for mixing therewith.

  • Patent number: 8490822
Abstract: A combination beverage mixer and strainer is disclosed, comprising a first container and a second container, each container having a closed end, an open end, a peripheral wall defining an interior space therein. The area of each open end is greater than the area of each closed end. The first container includes a straining edge of the peripheral wall proximate the periphery of the open end and having a plurality of apertures traversing therethrough. The area of the open end of the second container is greater than the area of the closed end thereof but smaller than the area of the open end of the first container. The open end of the second container may be inserted fully into the open end of the first container such that the peripheral wall of the second container contacts the peripheral wall of the first container below the straining edge so that the internal spaces of each container are sealed and the contents of the containers shaken and mixed.

  • Patent number: 8485727
Abstract: A multiple chamber container for separately storing components of a parenteral nutritional formulation is provided. The multiple chamber container may include frangible barriers, preferably peelable seals separating the chambers from each other. The container preferably facilitates the selective activation of the peelable seals to permit the admixing of less than all the separately stored components. The container may include a chamber positioned at each of the opposite lateral ends of the container and at least one additional chamber between the lateral chambers. The at least one additional chamber may have a longitudinal length substantially less than the longitudinal length of at least one of the lateral chambers. This configuration allows for selective opening of the seals since when rolling the container from the top avoids pressurizing the at least one additional chamber and inadvertent activation of a seal.

  • Patent number: 8479943
Abstract: A sheet-material piercer (1) for a container closure (2) of the push-pull type is of essentially rotationally symmetrical design and can be inserted into the container closure (2) in the direction of the axis of rotation of symmetry (R) such that it can be displaced axially independently of the push-pull part of the container closure (2). The sheet-material piercer (1) is in one piece and has at least one sealing formation (16, 17, 18) which is likewise of rotationally symmetrical design and is arranged between an actuating end (13) and a piercing end (14). The sealing formation (16, 17, 18) is designed for sealing and latching contact with the container closure (2). Also proposed is a container closure (2) for a container (3) with a so-called push-pull closure and such a sheet-material piercer (1).
