  • Publication number: 20110272379
Abstract: A container having a first compartment configured to hold a first substance, a second compartment configured to hold a second substance, a frangible separator coupled to both the first and second compartments, and an actuator operably attached to the frangible separator. The second compartment is removably attached to the first compartment. The frangible separator forms a seal between the first compartment and the second compartment such that the first substance and the second substance do not mix. Actuating the actuator causes at least a portion of the frangible separator to rupture, which creates an opening in the frangible separator and allows the first substance and the second substance to mix. The actuator may be a string. The invention is particularly well-suited for mixing formula and water in baby bottles, but has many other uses.

The reactants may be hydrophobic or hydrophilic and present as fluids, solids or combinations of solid(s) and fluids(s). When subjected to suitably high pressure, the capsule wall materials will fracture or rupture, releasing and preferably mixing all encapsulates to enable their prompt reaction. The utility of the invention is illustrated by its application to development of a corrosion inhibiting passive film on magnesium auto body material and to the adhesive bonding of members where precise positioning is desired.

  • Patent number: 7900787
Abstract: Capsule containers disclosed in the present invention. In principle, the capsule container is accommodated inside of the opening formed in a common container such as a beverage container, bucket container, etc. and caught and supported by the rim of the opening. The capsule container is advantageous in that it enables blending of the content accommodated inside with a fluid, powder, etc. having different properties as intended by the user; safe blending of contents without flowing-out; and prevention of excessive flow-out of contents as only proper amounts of the contents are discharged through the opening when the contents flow out.

Abstract: The invention relates to a capsule closure, the cap of which comprises a receptacle (2) that is formed on the interior of the lid and that fits into the interior of a corresponding nipple part (3). An associated film-sealed container capsule (8) can be locked into the interior of the receptacle (2), with the film facing downwards (9), so that the sealing film (9) lies against the inner diameter of the cap (1). A circular shoulder that projects inwards (10) is configured in the interior of the nipple part (3) below the inserted container capsule (8). Several fixed and/or displaceable piercing and/or cutting elements (12) are formed on the inner edge (11) of said shoulder (10). A tamper-evident strip (15) is supported on a shoulder (17) that projects radially outwards below the lower cap edge of the attached cap (1). Once said strip has been removed, the cap (1) can be pushed down onto the nipple part (3), causing the piercing and/or cutting elements (12) to cut open the film (9).

Abstract: A cap for modifying the contents of a container with a modifying composition. The cap system permits a user to agitate the contents of the container without spillage. A collar assembly is removably mounted to the neck of a container and an elongated plunger shank is partially housed therein with a compartment for storing the composition. Upon the application of force on the plunger shank, the foil sheet covering the bottom hits the puncturing protrusion of the activator assembly, releasing the modification composition while maintaining the container in watertight condition preventing any spillage if shaken. The seal previously achieved by the shank is not being achieved by the valve seat of the spout assembly.

Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing ingredients/additives into a liquid contained in a container. The dispenser (10) includes a receptacle (14) an opening (15) into the receptacle (14) through which ingredients/additives can be loaded into the receptacle. A closure (17) can fit with opening (15) for retaining ingredients/additives in the receptacle (14). The receptacle (14) is at least in part located in an enclosure (16). The receptacle (14) and enclosure (16) are arranged such that relative movement therebetween can take place. A mounting (11, 20, 21) enables the mounting the enclosure to a container (C). Relative movement between the enclosure (14) and receptacle 16 results in the closure effect of the closure (17) with opening (15) to be removed so that the ingredients/additives in the enclosure (14) can be dispensed into liquid contained in the container. The mounting (11, 20, 21) can be part of a cap which is applied to an opening of the container.
