When closed, a cover sidewall may engage a sidewall of the outer base housing to form a flush exterior sidewall of the closed container or the cover sidewall may be spaced apart from the outer base housing to form a gap in the exterior sidewall of the closed container. The outer base housing and cover can be metal and the inner ring can be plastic to provide a strong and robust package that maintains product freshness and is easily opened and closed.

Abstract: A three-piece pocket-size container for holding a consumer product such as smokeless tobacco product in an interior volume of a perimeter band which has a base locked to a lower rim portion and an openable cover on an upper rim of the perimeter band. When closed, the cover, the perimeter band and the base form a flush exterior sidewall of the container. The base and cover can be metal and the perimeter band can be transparent (clear, tinted or colored) or opaque plastic to provide a container that maintains product freshness, and is easily opened and closed.

Abstract: A pocket-sized container for consumer items comprises a cylindrical base, a cylindrical lid and a window. The cylindrical base includes a bottom sidewall and a bottom wall. The bottom sidewall includes a recessed surface at an upper portion thereof. The cylindrical lid includes a top sidewall and a top wall. An inner surface of the top sidewall slidingly engages the recessed surface of the bottom sidewall so as to close the container with the outer surface of the bottom sidewall flush with the outer surface of the top sidewall. The lid includes an opening in the top wall and a window fits inside the lid such that a domed portion of the window extends into the opening. The pocket-sized container can hold both tobacco products or non-tobacco products, including orally consumed pouches such as snus.

Abstract: A hinge-lid type package for containing an inner pack (IP) of filter cigarettes has an outer body (10), a lid (12) for opening and closing an upper opening end (26) of the outer body (10), and a pair of connector tabs (36) connected to the upper opening end (26) through a breaking line (38). When the package is produced, the connector tabs (36) enter the lid (12) to be adhered to the inner surface of the lid (12). When the connector tabs (36) are broken along the breaking line (38), the connector tabs (36) leave breaking traces (X) in both the outer body (10) and the lid (12).

Abstract: The device for satinizing and embossing flat materials comprises an embossing roll and at least one mating roll, said rolls being connected to a driving system and adapted to be driven individually or in common and to be resiliently pressed against one another while the individual teeth are flattened, and the embossing teeth being designed such as to produce in the corresponding locations of said flat material during its passage embossed marks whose appearance varies according to the viewing angle of the observer and/or the kind and/or the position of the lighting source, the embossing teeth which produce said variable marks having a different geometrical shape and/or surface than the satinizing teeth intended for satinizing. To this end, the surfaces of said embossing teeth and/or portions of the tooth space bottom are provided with microstructures. These microstructures allow producing largely forgery-proof marks which may furthermore provide a very decorative effect.

Abstract: A tamper resistant package comprises a packaging enclosure in the form of an open-ended sleeve or carton with a plurality of product packs inside the enclosure engaging the interior surface thereof. Each of the product packs includes outer wrap material at least a portion of which is secured to the interior surface of the enclosure. Upon removal of a product pack from the enclosure at least a portion of the outer wrap material remains within the enclosure thereby destroying the integrity of the outer wrap material which effectively prevents the product packs from being removed from the package and individually sold. The wrapping material is disturbed sufficiently so that the pack is not suitable for sale after being separated from the enclosure.

Abstract: What I believe is a totally new way to help the people addicted to smoking cigarettes to quit the habit by spacing the time between smokes and preventing the unconscious reach for one by means of a case or container for the cigarettes with a timing mechanism that will not open the container until a pre-determined time is reached. That timing mechanism can be reset from a few minutes to several hours therefore gradually reducing the absorption of nicotine until the craving for it is negligible and quitting the habit is easy.

Abstract: A cigarette pack assembled from a unitary blank comprises a body portion and a lid portion with an integral horizontal hinge line between the body and lid portions about which the lid portion moves between open and closed positions relative to the body portion. The body and lid portions each have opposite side panels. Diagonal cut lines along the sides of the cigarette pack separate the side panels of the body portion from the side panels of the lid portion. Each diagonal cut line extends to the hinge line and includes at least one uncut portion along its length. When the lid portion is initially moved to its open position the uncut portion of each cut line is broken. During assembly, the uncut portions of the diagonal cut lines function to strengthen the blank used to form the cigarette pack. Additionally, the uncut portion serves as an indicator with respect to whether or not the lid has been opened.
