  • Patent number: 8578944
Abstract: A tobacco product is formed by rolling a sheet of material supplied by a roll or rolls (e.g. moistened tobacco leaves) and/or homogenized sheet tobacco about a slit mandrel to form a shaped tube. The shaped tube is then packaged for shipment to an end user or consumer. The shaped tube remains in the rolled, shaped tube form inside the package. After the shaped tube is removed from the package, a consumer can fill the tube with crushed tobacco leaves or other tobacco filler material of a favorite blend, thereby eliminating some steps in the making of a “roll-your-own” tobacco product. A liquid can be added to the sheet or to the finished tube to moisturize same. The liquid can include flavoring. The tubes are unfilled when packaged and sent to a consumer/end user in tube form so that they have a “memory” that helps hold a tubular cigar shape after they are filled with selected tobacco fill material.

Abstract: A cigarette package includes an inner wrapping body formed by folding an inner wrapper having a film material ply sandwiched between a paper ply and a heat seal material ply into a substantially cuboidal shape, including substantially-parallel two half-cut lines extending from a top face into an upper portion of a front face of an inner boxy body each formed of a cut penetrating through the paper ply into the film material ply, a cut line formed of a cut penetrating through an outer layer constituting an overlap on the front face of the inner box body, at an upper location. A heat-sealed part is formed to surround the cut line by heat-sealing inner and outer layers, wherein an outer side of the outer layer is bonded to an inner side of a front lid, in a section above the cut line within a region surrounded by the heat-sealed part.

  • Patent number: 8459270
Abstract: A device to process cigarette butts has top and bottoms sections, one pivotably mounted on the other for rocking movement between open and closed positions. The bottom section has two access holes which are opened and closed by the rocking movement. When the holes are open, a user can insert a butt into one access hole and then can rock the top section, thus cutting the butt into a filter tip, and tobacco and paper materials. The tobacco and paper materials fall through a passage from the one access hole to the ground but do not cause a litter problem since they quickly biodegrade. The filter tips can be inserted into the second access hole into a storage space for later treatment and disposal. The bottom section has a thinned rear portion which allows increased rocking amplitude while minimizing the device thickness.
