Abstract: A golf travel case includes first and second housings each having a club mounting wall surrounded at its periphery by a side wall and including an open side through which golf club retainers are accessible. A spacer is pivotally connected along opposite edges to the first and second housings to permit movement to a closed position with the open sides facing one another, the free edges of the sides walls interlocking and the spacer abutting the side walls. In the closed position of the case, the clubs are protected during travel and storage. Each of the housings can be independently pivoted relative to the spacer through an arc of more than 180° to an open position of the case for playing golf.

  • Patent number: 6216865
Abstract: A golf bag has top holder units for holding golf clubs and protecting them from damage from one another, particular club heads impacting or chafing on shafts of adjacent clubs. The holder units are separable in the top of the bag, by pivoting about lower ends either in the middle of the length of the bag, in one form, or at the bottom of the bag in another form. In the shorter form of the holder units, separation of the units is controlled by pivoting links among the holder units and a handle moveable vertically. In one form the units are separated when the handle is raised, and in another when the handle is lowered. In one sub-form the top holder assembly is provided with guard plates located between pairs of the holder units, each plate having a notch for holding a club head against movement and contact with other clubs. In the long form of holder units, the units are separated from the bottom at a support end.

  • Patent number: 6209721
Abstract: This invention concerns a sports bag such as a golf bag equipped with an organizer insert. In another aspect the invention concerns an organizer insert for a sports bag such as a golf bag. The invention involves an apertured plate, with each aperture being sized and shaped to comfortably receive, for example, a golf club handle. Side walls extend below the plate to define a single compartment beneath each aperture. A spacer is associated with the side walls to keep them in fixed relationship with each other as they extend downwards. A retainer is associated with each compartment to grip a golf club handle and resist its removal from the bag. Golf club handles may be dropped or pushed into the bag through the apertures in the plate. They are gripped by the retainers and are kept relatively still inside their respective compartments. In this way the clubs will be retained in fixed relative locations within the bag, and will be unlikely to fall out of the bag during normal handling.

  • Patent number: 6202841
Abstract: A golf bag having an upper body formed in a cylindrical structure, a frame located in the top portion of the upper body to maintain the configuration of the golf bag, and a lower body installed in a bottom portion of the upper body. The lower body is used as a bottom part enclosing the bottom portion of the upper body. The golf bag also includes a separator connected to the frame for separating golf clubs that are inserted inside the upper body. This works towards preventing clashes between a head of the golf club and the frame as well as provides easy discernment of the heads of the golf clubs. The separator may include a base located in the center portion of the frame. The base may have an upper face slanted with an arbitrary angle, a partition board installed on the center portion of the upper face, and head partition members installed on the upper face to both sides of the partition board.

  • Patent number: 6199691
Abstract: A golf bag and partition rack arrangement, which includes a cylindrical bag body having two elastic bands at two opposite sides, a first rack frame and a second rack frame bilaterally fastened to the top cuff of the cylindrical bag shell and coupled to each other through a slip joint, a lever pivoted to the second rack frame and forced by a spring in the second rack frame to hook on one of front and rear locating notches on a locating rod at the first rack frame, and a cap fastened to the second rack frame to limit turning angle of the lever, wherein depressing one end of the lever causes the lever to be disengaged from the locating rod for enabling the second rack to be moved relative to the first rack frame to adjust the pitch between the two rack frames.
